- video showcase many of the samples used in the first 3 Rayman soundtracks, and where they came from.
Addition credit goes to UA-cams users Adel Almas, Robin, and LorenzoVDH for the majority of the findings.

Note: This is by no means all of the samples used in these games. If you have any info on what sounds were used that I didn't mention, be sure to let me know. Samples used in other media would be appreciated as well. It will help me keep this series going. - Ігри
That horror sample really was that extra little bit of creepy on top of an already unsettling theme for the Tower of the Leptys. That place had "nope" written all over it.
I really hate going through this level because of that sample alone. Hearing the full bit was a crazy experience
Impressive how someone found these! Even Dance Mix of The Top of the World had samples, one of the coolest R2 songs!
OK I'm getting a distorted reality CD RIGHT NOW. My mind is being blown right now hearing all these Rayman 2 sounds. Also love the visuals. You clearly really love these games. As do I.
OoT and majoras mask also used so many samples from the Distorted Reality packs
I don’t know if it’s only me but with these sounds and cover arts it both scares and fascinates me at the same time
I know this type of video usually doesn’t receive much attention, but I really appreciate it and hope you continue
Keep up the great work!
Also I noticed Horror Movie Part 3 from Zero G: Skinned was used in Silent Hill 2 during the hospital chase sequence with Pyramid Head
As well I think TENOR OST from Spectrisonic Symphony of Voices was used in the Silent Hill 3 song Maternal Heart
7:09 I think this sample is also used in Rayman Revolution, specifically in The Pirate Factory.
9:20 Jesus christ, the tower of Leptys version already sounded spooky, but I didn't think they used an actual horror sound effect. I really thought of a creaky door.
Is funny realize about samples used in videogames back in PS1 era, because you can now check what games applied the same ones 😂
Would love to see you do a comprehensive video of all the samples used in the Earthbound / Mother games! They still fascinate me to this day how many samples they were able to fit on a single SNES cartridge!
3:02 You've answered something that's bugged me since I was a child. I always thought that bit in Top of the World also sounded like a track from one of the Spyro games even though the actual effect is edited a little, it seems they just both used "Tweak". Can't remember what Spyro track it was but I think it was in the 3rd game.
This is a great vid, had no idea so many samples were used
Spyro 2 - Skelos Badlands, about 30 seconds in.
Crazy how many different samples from different songs were used in Rayman games, let alone how well they fit the atmosphere in each place they were used.
Great job on the research.
They are not songs, but sample libraries. Artists could buy these CDs full of samples created by companies and use them to compose their own music.
this fucking ROCKS! the rayman soundtracks were always so delightfully twisted and surreal. so fucking glad to finally have a vid of them
I think that 4:43 is also used in Zelda Wind Waker, in the wind temple.
4:03 This sample can also be found as the taunt sound in Pizza Tower
Thank you so much for mentioning me (I'm LorenzoVDH), I really appreciate it.
From 2014 to 2018 I obsessively went through so many old sample CDs and synthpatches and just put my findings in a post on RaymanPC, but this videoformat is much much better.
Very interesting to see all these new findings too!
This is super cool! I remember finding a few samples for Rayman 3 and Rayman 2 in playlists on UA-cam and the Rayman Pirate Community a while ago and this video is a great showcase on some of the best examples. I also noticed here in the comparison that many of the original samples were often changed for Rayman games like the tempo/speed and pitch especially for Rayman 3s soundtrack. Great job on this video the backgrounds fit perfectly with the track and I love the album art you included and that you had a comparison between sample vs Rayman soundtrack
That laugh at 0:49 originates from the Roland W30 sampler and is called something like "Boss"
The composers took nice samples and upgraded them to anthology tracks. Also, all the FX (especially Rayman 2) can be found on many media. Awesome finds, thank you.
Your like whosampled but for video games, It's absolutely brilliant 😁👍🏽
That was really interesting. I didn't even know I needed this video in my life.
5:51 I've heard that in Titan A.E., Cyberchase, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, the list goes on.
everything about this game is exceptional, and this video is great!
I never knew that Rayman sampled until today holy fucking shit!
Me neither
8:49 This was used in the daltons episode mind vs body it's the one where the daltons encountered a ghost.
That flute sound was also used in Disney’s legend of Tarzan and Turok Rage wars, I also heard it in an episode of Justice League unlimited and Lion King 11/2
The findings here are great, awesome video!
Good work dude ! I did not expect to discover new samples in 2022 ! :o
The rayman music its incredible
Rayman is the new Earthbound.
Never knew Rayman 1-3 would have used samples from other places.
Well, not quite. Rayman, like other games in that its samples were taken from Sample packs made for that sole purpose. Earthbound sampled from licensed songs.
@@gilamasan Oh, mmm.. at least kinda close.
Thanks for explaining.
I love this series of videos you're creating! :D I hope there will be more to come. Subbed :D
instant sub for that amount of work to create such quality video
Amazing research work! Thank you for uploading this.
Great work man love it
1:56 I think I've heard that one in Luigi's Mansion.
Great job thanks for uploading now I know where these sample tracks came from because when I was a kid in 2005 I always felt like I heard some of these tracks from somewhere.
Wow!! Great job! Thank you mister, I'm subscribing right now :D
Amazing content !!
Oh cool vidéo, I love these type of videos !
5:48 "You Are The Weakest Link, Goodbye." *** Walk of shame plays
Amazing!
3:02 this sample is also in Skelos Badlands from Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage
That's what I was thinking
This is really cool
Awesome video, I seriously wonder how you found all these samples!
Incredible how many of these I recognised instantly
Great video
10:44 is also used in the song No One by Fear Factory.
8:46 that sample is also used in the forset temple theme of twilight princess!
1:53 checkpoint 1
4:26 is also used in Kingsleys Adventure.
incredible just how many soundtracks these early sample CDs shaped, from rayman to silent hill :0 especially the spectrasonics ones.
i guess these sample CDs were the kontakt libraries of the 90s xD
that's awesome
Thank you
They should have used these in Captain Laserhawk to be honest.
Isn't there a drum sample from somewhere that was used in the Grolgoth battle theme? Because it's a drum sample I also recognise from the arcade version of Emotionless Passion from Tekken 2.
how about the music in background of the Candy Chateau in rayman 1?
i really needed this. do you have any idea where i can get the samples in the vid? i really wanna get them but i can't seem to find them.
Does anyone know where I could find the full audio for "Horror Movie Part 3" from 9:20? Can't seem to source it anywhere
Thank you, I love this type of stuff! It's so interesting. Btw, does anyone know what that noise is that starts at 9:00? It sounds kind of like a water hose or radio static, but as a kid I thought it was a creature making that noise which was terrifying because the whole point of that level is to look for invisible objects, and there were no regular enemies around... 😱
I dunno if it's possible but could you maybe do one for Serious Sam the First and Second Encounter???
3:04 Stewwart Copeland did use the same sample for Spyro 2.
9:35 So funkyyyy
Hey can you do one for Spyro 2 cause I know they also used some Spectrasonics’s samples too
*Lots of 'em
You know the flute from Polokus' theme in Rayman 2?
I would love to see Rayman Arena/M samples
The first one is also used in driver 2
9:48 This was used in Vib Ribbon and (I believe) NiGHTS into Dreams
Oh man I want a Vib Ribbon and Rayman crossover
The sample at 1:17 is also used in a Breaking Bad OST song called "murder"
It always blows my mind that shows are still using sample packs from the 90's. I enjoy spotting them in modern shows. I wonder if it's cheaper to use old sample packs somehow.
Wow ! Nice !
here comes the ghost sample from zero-g: cuckooland asylum is also heard in the song EVENT : EXCUSE ME? from Sonic Heroes
3:03 Spyro the dragon
1:49 i cant find that track anywhere mannnnnnn
Just heard Torcnein talk about that horror sample in Tower of Leptys. He told not to go and look for it. Well, he was right...
Can I get ALL OF THE SAMPLES?
the Yeah at 00:50 is also in a Wipeout 1 track
Oh My God ! All of my life was a lie !!
Hello, gilamasan! What are those covers from this video? Could you make another of your videos called "The Samples Used in Sonic Games"?
There are quite a lot of known samples, so I could do that.
if a game ost doesn’t have shit from sample cds in it then fuck it fr, also love the cd case visuals in this
Those at 1:45 are both used in Tenchu 2
4:03 THAT'S THE PEPPINO TAUNT
1 harp used from spongebob game frenzy 9:49
and also echo flute 9.1 sample from sonic foundry: voices of native america sounds in Forest Temple theme from The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
10:03 what is the album's name(for sample)
I Can't see it cause of the quality
@@Megster_3000 Peter Spoecker - Didgeridoo And Other Primitive Instruments (1996). Label: Big Fish Audio.
Do Luigis Mansion or another atmospheric creepy video game
Do ratchet and clank samples
2:35 ***** Prison Break starts
Pizza tower taunt
1:48 Tenchu 2!!!
A lot of these samples are missing from the Nintendo 64 version of Rayman 2...and I personally prefer that. The original* soundtrack sounds too busy, while the 64 version has stronger central melodies. *In Europe, the Nintendo 64 version actually released first. :P
I always though the Yeah was Rayman's voice
It's not that using samples is bad. It's that at least me I revered the composers for coming up with such good sound design and melodies ... when instead it was someone else xD
3:27 - WRONG IMAGE!
What should I have used?
I think it's still ok, like, wasn't this the place where you first encounter shells?
Is the guitar sample at 2:07 not the one used in Mr. Dark's boss battle music as well?
