Fat Quarter-Friendly pattern with NO Y-Seams! Congruence from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Congruence is named for the geometric term congruent, which means all the sides of a triangle are the same size, which is what we are working with in today's video and pattern.
This no-neutral quilt is the perfect quilt to create a scrappy look with using your stash or fat quarter bundle of Tambourine by Anna Maria Horner for FreeSpirit I used. Even the binding comes from the fat quarters, so just add backing!
The pattern for this quilt is available in crib, lap (pictured), twin and king.

Thank you again! Since 6th grade I did not like sixty degrees! Ninety and forty-five are my friends, but not 60! This project totally busts that fear! It is beautiful and easy. I so appreciate the little tips hanging out for lining it all up. The "point" or emphasis of sewing a couple threads to the right of the tip/point is wonderful. (puns intended, smile) I am just finding this years late, but still good for me. 8-14-22 Fabric-craft is fun.

p.s. I wasn't so sure with all of those busy prints that the fabrics would all work together, but you were right. You were also right to use a very simple quilting pattern -- the fabrics speak for themselves and need no embellishment. When you [get your nose out of your quilt and] look at the finished quilt top, it looks very rich -- quite spectacular, actually. Well done!

I’d love to know if you have done a spider web quilt, I am so impressed with your methods for joining pieces getting points correct etc, I would love to hear what you would advice when trying to join 8 pieces to converge neatly , I can do 2 sets of 3 but when I try to turn it into 2 sets of 4 ie 2 halves then a finished piece of 8 sections I am really stuck. I am sure there are other watchers would appreciate this advice as well. In the meantime seriously considering joining your fabric club, but live in New Zealand so major postage is a factor- I will think on I. Very tempted.
Cutting triangles today! Bought the Fat Quarter Workshop book for Christmas. Its a MUST BUY! This will be my first quilt of 2021! I have a lot of these fabrics that came in my Free Spirt Bundles, so I know it will look great! I came here to see if we need to keep the end half triangles from the little strips. Because the instructions say repeate steps 1 and 2 for the small strips. I think I dont need to. I will be using those scraps for something though because I can't help but keep all the fabric!🙃

This ruler works excellent to trim half rectangle blocks. (as a bonus utility!)

In the cutting instructions step 1,it says to cut one 2 1/2 inch by 2 inch strip for binding. Not sure what to do with that small piece! Help!
I love this pattern and that fabric by Anna Maria Horner is just beautiful! May I ask how many fat quarters are used in this pattern? You mentioned 12 pieces in your club, however I see that the FQB comes with 24 pieces. Thanks!
I used all 24 fat quarters from the line to make the size you see here. The pattern comes with multiple sizing options and lists the number of fat quarters you need for each one.

If I may make a suggestion... perhaps you could list the number of fat quarters needed before someone purchases the pattern so that we know what we need to purchase, or have in our stash. This is in no way a criticism, just a suggestion as other companies, such as MQSC and Fat Quarter Shop show the back of the pattern with the fabric requirements in the pictures as well. Is this pattern in any of your books?
Does the PDF pattern include the front cover? I purchased the Garden Plot PDF and it did not include the front cover. the cover is very helpful when choosing fabrics t get the effect shown in the tutorials without having to go back to the web site to see. Love your tutorials.
The cover files are too large to include, so it is the inside pages only. We will be offering paper versions of these patterns very soon.
I followed your directions, however my large triangles rarely matched up with the smaller ones I sewed together.
Did you use a triangle ruler with all three points? And did you press your seams open?

If you need to keep the points, why do some equilateral triangles have the top that is flat? I used one to make stars and it was a wonky disaster - and now, after watching your video, I'm wondering if it was because of that? My cutting is good and my 1/4" is pretty consistent...I assumed it was because of the bias, but now I think it was the points. When is the flat top a good idea? Thanks so much for your tutorials and videos. Love watching your content (as you can probably tell since I'm watching a video from over a year ago lol).
It has to do with different math requirements for the strips you cut the triangles from. I like the ones with three points because you can use the dog ears to help line up your pieces for better results.

What size are the small triangles?
That info is in the pattern.
Math Police: That's not really what congruent means.
