I know this is a 6 year old vid & you likely aren't seeing comments anymore. But just need to say using that old drill chuck as a weight is brilliant. I have multiple lengths, bends and end types and NOW I can do it with one base. Just chuck in the end I want or need at that moment. THANKS.
Made one from an old drill chuck but used a bolt that screwed into the back and welded back legs onto it , the front jaws can hold all types of shaped holding rods and is fully adjustable , works great !
I appreciate the inclusion of the mistake when drilling and ending up with a hole off center, and how to correct the mistake using a piece of copper to back the hole and fill it in, smooth out, and try again. Center point drills meant for lathes work really well for getting that starting point going after the center has been punched.
As a total newbie this is a fantastic video and I’ve just changed my chuck in my drill press. My welding table is collapsible to save space and I might use rare earth magnets for the mig holder. Thank you.
I will admit I cheated a bit and had some previous experience way back in high school AG class. So I wasn't entirely new to welding, but really the only thing I knew was what a good and bad weld looked like!
Nice video, i like the idea with the drill chuck! People asking for narration are either weird or need to step away from power tools - the video speaks for itself
GOTTA LOVE that swivel-action magnetic torch holder! & I just love how u immediately used your first welding project right into your second one! Smahts, i say, smahts!
Good video showing some basic tool functions. I personally just use a 90 degree tacking magnet for fitting and tack a short peace of 1 1/2" pipe to my work bench to hold the mig.
I'm not saying your idea of a third is bad, I think it's really great. However I would still prefer a welding magnet. Btw nice stand for the welder it's great.
Why would anyone troll this? It is hands down a great thing and considering how many older drill motors that used to be powered by NiCd or NiMH battery packs that nobody is upgrading, I bet there are plenty of nice used 3/8 and 1/2" chucks. Of course the trick is gettting them off the shaft.. But hey that there is a video right there Ye haw! .
Amazing, you have a nice project and you explain it very well, Thousand Congratulations ... !! and go ahead with your ideas, greetings from Cochabamba, Bolivia.
For the mig holder I always just welded a piece of pipe or tube stock to the side of the table and stuck the tip in there and they double as points to clamp your ground to also... or just throw it on the table where it of course triggers itself off the corner or whatever piece of stock I threw it on. I like the use of the drill chuck to add weight to the third hand.
I love to see this type of DIY'S... very useful for me to make those fabrication aid.... greetings from the Philippines and just talking a little deutch.....correct me if I am wrong....Danke Shern.
Great ideas AND fantastic how you showed your mistakes and HOW to fix them!! That’s honesty, for sure. And I just hate how the wandering drill bit can slap you down....welding up that hole just gave me nightmares all over again. What about when you go to the effort to drill the pilot hole and it still wanders ??? Go figure that one..... Great vid. I’m subscribed.
+cognitor900 Thank you very much! The more expensive drill bits are sharpened to a spear tip instead of a chisel tip. They make it lot easier to get centered. Or use a step bit, I just forgotten that I have one LOL!
Yes the old mig gun fall off the bench routine, now I'll make me a gun holder, maybe a little different so's not to infringe on any copyrights laws. Think that small part holder be better if had a small V notch on the end. Nice video.
Sorry I'm late to the game here, but I just came across your video today. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed watching it tremendously. From the music to the comedic way you had to rework the hole you drilled in the base of the MIG stinger holder for the magnet. Well done. I look forward to going through and watching the rest of your stuff on here. Cheers.
yea been welding over 25 yrs and the gun falling off the table is still a pain in the ass thats why there is pieces of inch and a quarter pipe welded all over every table lol

Glad you like the idea. I really appreciate it!

A 'third arm' is very useful. That MIG-handle stand w/magnet is brilliant! 😁👍
No pontificating, just raw action and visual how-to! Nice!
Thank you!
@@Ollaris thank you goes to you. Very nice starter for newbie's new-found passion.

+woozleboy Exactly! And the funny thing that I have probably 2 of them. But I haven't thought to use them.... Thank you!
Great video! I love how you made one tool and then used that to make another tool. I also like how you made, then fixed a mistake. Pretty cool.
As a total newbie this is a fantastic video and I’ve just changed my chuck in my drill press. My welding table is collapsible to save space and I might use rare earth magnets for the mig holder. Thank you.
Thank you very much Mark! I’m glad you like it!
This is an amazing idea for work holding. I also really appreciate the music choice, I get so tired of heavy metal on every other welding video.
no
great video. I've been welding for 3 years now and have never thought of something like this. thank you!
+Paulo Menezes Thank you Paulo!
The chuck and spinning holder on the magnet are excellent takeaways!! Well done sir!
+Airn5475 Thank you very much!
I used a stick welder ( i think that is what it’s called) today for the first time. Definitely hard but it was fun!
I thank you! Once I found a workplace and get my welder this will be one of the first things I will do
Very cool project! I was a bit of an adventurer when I started welding, and jumped straight into converting a boat trailer into a utility trailer
+Koshunae Thanks! Yes you were! I don't trust my knowledge that much!
I will admit I cheated a bit and had some previous experience way back in high school AG class. So I wasn't entirely new to welding, but really the only thing I knew was what a good and bad weld looked like!
+Koshunae I feel comfortable that way I don't know how a good one looks! LOL
Thats a lotta work for a torch holder. I just welded a short length of round pipe under the bench and pop the gun in there when I dont need it
That’s a good idea when and If your welder is always used on the same place.
Thank you very much!
Love the no bullshit editing, so good you don't need to speak, like a well made film.
+George Griffiths Thanks a lot George! This is the nicest complement!
Nice basic gadgets. I liked your picks of music
A very good idea, I need something like this. Thank you.
Start welding classes in two days, this makes me super excited!
Awesome! I wish i had some lessons before i started!
Good video showing some basic tool functions. I personally just use a 90 degree tacking magnet for fitting and tack a short peace of 1 1/2" pipe to my work bench to hold the mig.
great video and full respect for welding up the hole and starting again
Thank you very much!
well done . I like the adjustable 3rd hand
+David Drescher Thank you very much!
the music is spot on, great work.
+Rifat Ali Thank you very much!
Finally somebody on here doing a video that knows how to weld
That's pretty neat. I should have made one by now.
Great Ideas! Thanks... My first two projects right there.
Have fun!
3nd holder is a good one but the first could easily be achieved using a welding magnet, they make holding iron at 90deg a snap.
Yes, i have some welding magnets too, but for more intricate work or small workpiece I like to use the 3rd hand.
Not everything you're welding is magnetic though
might have to make the first one, it looks useful
It is!
I'm not saying your idea of a third is bad, I think it's really great. However I would still prefer a welding magnet. Btw nice stand for the welder it's great.
+Medhavi Desai Thank you! I have a welding magnet but its not always the best for certain jobs and weird shapes.
Yours things have a lot of quality, congratulations for yours ideas and yours videos, greeatings from Colombia
+Daniel Boom Thank you very much Daniel!
That 3 legged holder that you made first, you should mass produce them. Great Christmas present for just about anybody.
Very nice and worthwhile projects !!
Going to make a couple for my everlast welder. Great idea.
Thanks a lot!
The pilot hole thing was hilarious XD thanks for the video and ideas.
Ha! Thank you very much!

Very nice thank you. Just happen to have and old drill chuck and a ton several ton of odd and end steel.
Saw this video quite a while ago. I made both. The torch holder is a great addition. Thank You for the ideas.
Thanks for watching!

Yeah that could work too!
Would of made for a pretty boring video though... cut tube, weld to side of table, end of video, lol.
Yes it would in deed! LOL
man one of those sparks hit me in the eye!
Hahaha
That's why you should always wear you safety gear! Yes, always!
I love to see this type of DIY'S... very useful for me to make those fabrication aid.... greetings from the Philippines and just talking a little deutch.....correct me if I am wrong....Danke Shern.
Thank you, Edgardo! But my German is acceptable at best. I think it goes like Dankeschön. ;) Greetings from Hungary!

I’ve drilled through plug welds before, it’s pretty tough lol
Congratulations! Good job. I take this opportunity to congratulate you on good Christmas and a happy new year.
Thank you very much! Merry Christmas!
i enjoyed this very much its best to make your own things
Thanks! Yes it!
I learned a lot but for now on I will come back for the MUSIC.
Thanks! I'm always happy when someone likes my music choice.
Refilling the hole... you are crazy :)
Thanks for showing
+Sascha LB it just wasn't in the middle. LOL. A man must do ........ Thanks Sascha!
Pensei a mesma coisa
Realmente doeu o coração
Te lo dico, secondo me sei un genio! Bravo bravo bravo
Awesome! Love the rotating torch hold.
+Iron Gordon Thanks Iron!
The chuck tho....made alot but that's never crossed my mind....cool shit
I love how your description says you dont have experience but your welds are beautiful man I need to find a chuck now haha
Thanks! Any heavy metal object would do the job.
AAAAHHH I can’t bear to watch a vernier being used like that!
+David Fellows haha! I know someone would jump on that!!!!! Lol! Thats why i used my $3 one!!!
Ollari's phew. Fair enough saves setting square or height gauge. I did nearly suffer a heart attack though...
+David Fellows Sorry! But i got to do that!
very creative.. well done..
Nicely made stand. I shall try this myself with my everlast welder. Thank you.
Thanks Julian!
Nice vice looks strong
Thanks! It is!
Two really useful projects. Thanks.
Cool third hand👋
Thank you Tricia!
That was awesome thanks for the idea!!!!!!!!!!!
+htnttf1 Thank you! Glad you like it!

Great use of scrap! Love the ingenuity.👍
+Sonny Pittman Thank you Sonny!

Пора рубрику открывать "Маленькие хитрости от Оллариса". Молодец!!!
Haha! Thank you!
Love both these ideas. I'm always struggling to find a place to rest my mig torch. And the third hand would be so useful.
Thanks Matt!
Boa ideia , criativo , simples e funcional ! Gostei da marcação do furo nos 4:02 saiu certinho onde tu marcou kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Thank you! :)
I bought a brand new 600 dollar drill just to make this. It was worth every dime.
For what? 😳
You nailed it! Such fantastic first projects for welding. Great job Sebastian!!😊👊
+Jedidiah Shultz Irish Craftsman Thanks Jedidiah!
You are making want to take up welding. Nice job.
Thank you!
Good Ideas... I be making some. Seems like every time I set my torch down, I run out a foot of wire. Thanks.
+Joe Atwork haha! Yes I did that too. But I winded the wire back up on the spool. Thank you Joe!
Very nice dude
Cool projects!
Thanks!
Dang. That was cool. Great video. You really did a great job on the editing too. Thank you.
Very useful - cool ideas!
+Max Mustermann Thank you!
Great projects 👍👍
Pretty cool!!! I like your torch holder design!!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful, good solution !!! 👍👌
+Family Flow thank yiu very much!
Awesome smart idea 💡 👍🏻
Thank you!
Always good to have. I made a "hold this" while a go. Comes in handy.
+Master of None Thanks man! Yess!
Amazing effort
Good video. Thanks for sharing!
I love how you used that chuck - - dude!
+Shogun-Jimi Thanks Jimi! I wait for the troll comments because the chuck and how I used the caliper!!!
Yeah, but grinding off the bent bar and putting it back into his drill every time he want to drill a hole must be a right pain in the arse!
Great idea but where does the magnet come from?
yea been welding over 25 yrs and the gun falling off the table is still a pain in the ass thats why there is pieces of inch and a quarter pipe welded all over every table lol
Correct!!!
haha so true

+Felix Much Danke Felix! Ja du hast recht. aber ich bin auch kein Profi!
Ollari's Dann auch solche die es werden wollen😉
Felix Much Nö danke, kein Interesse! ;) frohe Weihnachten!
Nicely done. I need a stand for my everlast mig gun. Does the heat of the weld make the magnet any weaker?
+DT Williams thank you! I haven't noticed any change.
good idea on the 3rd hand; would work even better if it had some teeth... use a saran wrap cutter as a template...
Or a magnet on the end of it.
@@TheMrSnipey
Kind of kills the whole idea of a third hand if it flips small parts out of place.
Pro tip right there , thank you
Nice video....definitely I Will be making a holder after watching this!!
Well done 👍
Thanks!
A drill press would make drilling that hole a lot easier next time. Great video and handy items!
Вот это настоящие креативные идеи. 👍

I'm feel'n your groove bro.
Pls I need details or link to your new mig welder. You're amazingly meticulous.
Simple, yet effective. My favourite type of build. Nice.
+Cammie's Garage Mine too! Thank you very much!
Need a holder for my everlast mig gun. That would be useful.
Very Clever! And your vice is a true classic. Thanks
+George Goehl Thank you Sir!
