    This is a great idea. Years ago I found someone on You Tube (sorry, can't give credit as I don't recall who it was), and she bought plastic envelopes from Dollar Tree. You cut each one in half, and use package tape on the sides. These envelopes have a 'button' in the middle as the latch, you just cut straight down on either side and you get 2 perfect pockets (each has it's own flap). The bottom of each can be cut: they have colored plastic base. Just cut the base off, and again, package tape closes them off. Then, I purchased vent magnetic sheets at Busy Beaver, cut them to fit inside the clear envelopes, and this is how I store mine. Thank you for this idea... I may incorporate it into my die collection as well ! Happy Crafting...

    I do something similar but slightly different. I store my dies on 5x7 inch magnetic sheets from Marietta Magnetics. Then I place the sheet into a page protector. Most dies fit in a 6x9 inch binder. Larger dies go into a binder for 8.5x11 paper. The reason I use Marietta Magnetics sheets is because they are thicker and do not require a backing to stiffen them. They have more magnetic power than the thin vinyl sheets and dies rarely pop off. They have both adhesive and regular sheets.
    I use the ones with adhesive for stamp/die combos. I put the acetate sheet the stamps come with on the adhesive side. Then the sets go into a page protector.
    I like how portable my binders are. I can carry them to whatever table I am die cutting on. I use a TV tray if I’m watching something, my dining room table for large jobs, and my craft desk. The size of the smaller binders keeps down the weight too. I used to store dies in a craft box designed for the purpose.
    Once a shelf storing my die boxes came down and one of the boxes landed on my foot. That was a trip to the ER. Luckily the box hit the floor next to my foot too, otherwise I’m sure my foot would have been broken rather than severely bruised. I’ve dropped binders too. They don’t fall the same as boxes and weigh a heck of a lot less. The binders cannot cause as much injury.
    I buy magnetic sheets, page protectors, and binders on Amazon. Page protectors are endlessly repairable with packing tape by the way. If holes tear, you can cover them with packing tape and punch a new hole.

    I'm so glad I'm not alone. The only time I reach for my Cricut is if I need something specific for a one time project. And I really have to think about it too. I have such a good die collection, the Cricut is more or less a dust collector.

    This is how I store my dies, too. I purchase Avery Elle stamp storage pouches to keep each magnet and die set inside. That helps them to stay secure. I put the packaging from the die set in the pouch as well in case I want to look up any videos on that particular die set later.

    Great idea, love that you shared your chipboard source. I did not find a good chip board when I was making some of mine, I ended up using some large dollar store signs to adhere my magnet to. I use these large magnet sheets when I'm working on several projects at once, to keep the dies handy until I can put them away. Eventually I'd like to have these large sheets on the inside of a cupboard door next to my craft space for those dies I use most frequently. Thanks for the video.

    Yes!!! I love how the edges of a die cut look! The die cuts look domed. Much nicer than a Cricut. And yes, the Cricut is not good for intricate cutting. I love my little intricate dies!

    We use a jewelry little snippet
    To remove
    The extra metal clips
    On the dies. So they don’t leave. Impressions or hurt us when using them.

    This is how I store mine. For the magnet sheets, i use the magnetic floor vent covers.you find in the big box home improvement stores. Near the furnace filters. There are 3* pieces 8 x 15 inches each, inexpensive, no more than $6 or 7 each package(* for 3 large pieces!)and easy to cut with a paper trimmer, or utility.knife and ruler.
    I make my pages 8x10, and slip each in an 8 1/2 x 11 inch clear page holder with a lock top, and kept in a regular binder. It's pretty heavy, but, I can tell by looking at each page, if some dies weren't put away yet.
    I keep a dish on the table with magnets in it to set the dies in on a die cutting session. That way, hopefully they won't be swept away with scrap paper. Then I'll put them all away at once.

  • @barbarianatgate2000

    Nice idea. And I agree that dies will produce a cleaner, faster cut.
    The tradeoff is that you can only use dies that you acquire. There's no ability to customize or scale them.
    Love the storage idea, but people should strongly weigh their intentions for use before investing in a collection.

    • @MTL_Kreations
      @MTL_Kreations  2 роки тому +3

      Based on my experience, I would say no since you'll have die rubbing off on each other and falling off the sheet when you're flipping through your stash. I would recommend maybe pasting a picture of the die project to the backside instead, so you'll have a point of reference for future usage.

    • @MTL_Kreations

      Hi I have the magnetic sheet and chipboard linked in my description. The magnetic sheet has an adhesive backside so you can adhere it to the chipboard. Once adhered, you can cut it to size. The die will attach to the magnetic sheet much like a fridge magnet. It's a lot cheaper and size is customizable to your need for die storage.

    • @MTL_Kreations
      @MTL_Kreations  2 роки тому

      You can customize the size of the chipboard and magnetic sheet to your needs. I have mind sized that way since most of my Dies are small. So maybe create a 6 by 7 sheets or 8x10 so you won't have a lot of trimming to do? Hope that helps.

    I might have to go this way as well, I spent a lot of dollars buying the Tim Holz die folder but the plastic storage pockets just fall apart, so badly made & a couple were not stuck when I bought the folder. The whole thing is much too heavy & so the pockets fall out of the spine metal holders, so the whole thing is a complete failure.
