Like if you were using the 1st Generation iPod Touch on the speakers for a while and now you have the 4th Generation, the speakers might need an upgrade in order to work better with your iPod. And Yes I do agree with you that you can notice a very big difference comparing to regular MP3s. Thanks for bringing that up, that's a very good point! The Zeppelin can be hang on the wall if you did not have the space for it like my best friend has it set up. I had the Bose Companion 5 before the Zeppelin and what I hate it about was all the cables that it needed! The huge box for the bass was too big for my taste. So I returned it and got this one. @GamEfreakStunter - Hello! Depends on your budget. If money is not an issue, then I do recommend this one. The sound that comes out of this, is stunning. For music that requires a lot of bass, then this one comes a little short. I listen to different category of music and this unit suits me. The other speakers next to this one is Focal XS Satellite and I would recommend you to check it out. Aside that is not one whole unit, it makes it a bit inconvenient, but you got lots of bass.
@SuperNiko911 - hi there, the only time you plug it to the USB port is whenever there is a new update for it. I use the 3.5 mm jack to plug it to my computer.
Did you compare this Zeppelin unit to the Meridian M80 unit? the rumors are that the M80 is being discontinued and the M80 replacement is likely to hit the streets fairly soon and it is almost guaranteed to have AirPlay technology. The Meridian M80 is considered REAL high end for a unit of this type. Yes, it is more expensive, but it is made from better materials, has a CD/DVD player on the current model, plus it also has a clock radio. Check it out.
Hi OzzyVanHalen! To be honest with you, I haven't got the chance to take this baby outdoor to listen to it. Indoor, sound quality is very clean at high volume, but the bass it comes a bit short comparing to other speakers. I compared this with the Bose Companion 3 Multimedia speaker system and the base is a bit better for Hip Hop, Rap and R&B. But I ended up picking this. Hello, you might be able use it for the game console, but you have to make sure if the console has the optical digital audio input. If it doesn't, probably check your TV. You can find the optical digital cable at an Apple store or better at some other audio places. I hope this helps you. cheers!
@sharpanator - I don't have an Iphone 4 yet so I couldn't tell you. But on their website it says it is compatible with the Iphone 4. But one thing I might suggest is that if you end up getting it, try upgrading the firmware first. Or you can always go to the Apple Store to test it out before you buy.
The Arcam rCube, I would love to have one to play with! Think this little unit looks very slick and compact. It doesn't not have a lot of features like the Meridian M80 but I love the wireless connectivity that it has for iPods! Good choices!
@ande320 - Thanks for your comment. This vid was done almost 2 yrs ago so I'm sure B&W has improved their design into the new Zeppelin. At that time I had the Bose Companion 3 and I really didn't like all the cables, the big box and loose speakers. Plus the sound, it came out a bit muddy. I needed something one piece, not a lot of wiring, and sounds crisp on all genre. Sure it does not have enough bass as a lot of people would like, but is going to be 2 yrs since I had this and I still love it!

You know, I haven't seen a Meridian M80 in person where I live. But from what I gather.. this thing is loaded with features that you can't find on the Zeppelin! just the connectivity types that it has in the back side, I was pretty amazed. How about sound? Well, you will probably have to hear it on your own. If you are looking for something that has everything well packed.. Then I could truly say that this beats the Zeppelin. Cheers!
what album is that? you played first on your iphone? and do you encode your songs at 128 kps? because if you dont try and encode at Apple loseless which is around 900 kps or even better, AIFF which is around 1500kps. You will notice a massive difference in detail from standard MP3 compression. The zeppelin is so good that this is the way to get the ultinate sound out of it. Im getting one myself next month. Hope i helped :)
Yeah some people just dont understand that high quality systems such as the zeppelin need high quality audio files to sound best, im looking into trying 24 bit FLAC because thats what the Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound like to use. Of course im not getting the mini, dont like the look of it as much and the bass isnt as taut or strong. Im looking to get my zeppelin next month along with a new 160gb ipod classic, cant wait. Focal has a unit, but it isn't an all in one. For sound quality, the meridian is the best, the b&w unit I haven't heard the latest unit. I would like to sit down and play with all of the units on the market side by side to get the best evaluation.

@ALMIGHTYONE1908 - Yes it works with the iPhone 4, but it pops a message on your phone once you plug it (it says that is not compatible with this unit). I just ignore it and play my music with it. Just do a firmware upgrade and that might be helpful.
to me, I range size number 3, design 2 and Sound 1. Everyone's tastes and hearing are different. But I would really suggest if you can find a place that is nice and quiet and you can hear the sound from the speakers.. you will be the judge of how good it is.
I didn't buy the Zeppelin. I bought another pair of powered speakers in the mean time and bought a USB transmitter and receiver that plug into any speaker just as an interim solution. The speakers I bought are the Audioengine 2's. Which sound fine, it's just that their W3 Wireless Audio adapters are just OK. They have drop outs every once in a while. The speakers are pretty good for the money once they are broken in. I've tried BlueTooth speakers, but they disconnect after so many minutes.
@euannmackayy - WaW! I appreciate for the huge compliment! Thank you! To answer your question, the only way I can see it connecting to the speakers is by using the 3.5mm Aux Cable. You wouldn't be able to charge with it. If you are thinking to spend that kind of money (which I think is worth it), might as well get an iPod Touch or a iPod Classic. You'll enjoy it much better.

But it falls short on the bass when listening to Rap and Raggaeton. The bass is not as big as the Bose system but rest sounds so crisp and not muddy! I had Bose for a week before this and I returned it.

im an employee for magnolia inside of a bestbuy! i sell these and the zepplin mini over bose anyday! bose in terms of accurate frequency ranges is horrible and sounds muddy if you want it loud enough to fill a room
Any of these devices have to be tested in one's home. Most stores, unless they have decent sound rooms that are soundproofed and proper acoustics typically sound like crap in most retail settings.

You can check the Focal XS Satellite right at the store if they carry it. The Mivoc SW 1500 A-II subbas that you mentioned, I'm not familiar with it. But It seems like is very powerful for just a bass. I'm sure you will need to buy others speakers to go with it. Search for user TheLastJedi93 - Sub Test and you can see what he has set up.

Now if you can bypass the boring square design which the colors would help balance it, I will still have to bring one home and test it. The problem is that I've heard the Zeppelin and despite all of the hype, I actually wasn't that impressed. My experience with wireless audio hasn't been that terrific so far. Bluetooth has problems, at least from what I've experienced and WiFi based its own set of problems. I am wondering we have to wait until 802.11ac gets officially released and we upgrade everything to that standard.

I tried the zep, did not like it, I tried them all, in the end I had picked jbl onbeat extreme. Nothing comes close to it in sound quality and power. The zep in my own opinion is way overrated.

You can't make a correct judgement without hearing the unit.Sound quality is what sets these expensive units apart.Foremost.
