Really enjoyed your video. I've slept in my Forester but I had the hatch down. Mosquito's really bother me. I'll have to pick up some of those window netting. I also moved the front passenger seat up as far as it would go and put a cooler on the floor that gave me more room as well. Can't wait to see more of your camping adventures!

Ya, that generator. It's a disturbance to enjoy a peaceful and natural environment. I guess it's just temporarily used to power the on going project. The window net fits well. Good selection of background music. Cheers.
Yes I believe the generator is just temporarily used by the workers in that area. Once the whole place is done up, should be alright :)
Owhhh!! Didnt know you tried carcamping before until bumping into this video. I am doing carcamping at the moment in my Honda City Hatchback. Super spacious. Sleeps 2 comfortably.

I had a similar sleeping setup in my Alza during the flood relief in Kuala Krai a few years back. Some padded mat to cushion the back. A sleeping bag as the temp dropped during the wee hours of morning. And all the front and rear side windows cranked down. A super-sized mozzie net over the car making sure to cover the opened windows. Had a good night's rest, partially also due to the hard labour preparing meals for the flood victims.
I removed the middle row seats in my Alza. I mostly do stealth car camping.
Sounds like a true adventure. Thank you for the good deeds that you have done for the flood victims, and kudos for sneaking in some car camping fun in the process too!

Front passenger seat maybe can be pulled down to add longer sleeping space.
Alamak so many good deals on 10.10 hope you got a good one! BTW there's a little smudge or something either on your Go Pro lens or sensor which is causing some flare at the top of your footage. Still, great content! 😂
Ahha yes indeed there has been a mark on the top right. My GoPro took a 'leap of faith' one day and fell onto a rock. Now there is a permanent 'battle scar' there. But just got the lens replaced so all good :)

So cold and windy?! Ok, this is going to be my first campsite! Btw my condolences to your ex-tent... I own the same Forester, so definitely not going fit in if I wanted to sleep in the car... Hopefully, there are cushion that will extend more space? Note to self: Bring dog treats....
Yes this is a good campsite for starters. I think you can definitely fit in your forester, just need to push the front seat all the way forward and put a cooler/tool box at the head end, and you'll get extra length :)

What propane set-up did you have? I LOVE the wind protector around the base! I have never seen that before in camping videos. Smart tho!

Should try sleeping on the side where the front passenger seat can be push further to the front. I feel that since you always go camping alone and especially when you're the only one at a campsite, sleeping in the car would be safer. Stay safe.
I did feel very safe sleeping in the car, but only when it's cool and breezy.. Or else I'll die of heat stroke!
@@JunOutdoors get more portable fan, or even can try a small table fan since you have portable power source. I feel it's safer when you can just drive away should there be trouble. Especially when you're the only one on the camp ground.

Sleeping in the car..well I did so many times already..due to several reasons..such as failure to get hotel room or too tired to continue my journey to a certain locations..

i car camp in my Prius. Awesome experience. Usually camp with my 2 doggies and been to rainforest before. It's definitely windy. Had a great time there. One question - you said it rain in the early morning with strong wind, was wondering does the rain get through to the interior through the car window net?
Hi there, Prius is great. Amazing though how you and your two doggies fit in the Prius! As for the rain and wind, yes it did get through to the interior so I had to close up the windows, leaving just a small gap. Luckily the rain lasted only 3 hours :)
I've been thinking of doing a DIY gull wing awning to mitigate that. For shade real estate and so that I can crank down the window. Starting at the middle of roof rack.

I intend to do some camping this coming year. I noticed your Forester and I was just at the showroom this morning. Would you prefer driving a Maxus V80 window van, Ranger pickup truck or Forester, for camping purposes?
Hi there, the answer to your question is not easy. Many factors involved. The maxus v80 is excellent as a campervan with all the camping comforts one could ask for, and you could also stand upright in it! A Ford Ranger is tough and capable and can take you literally anywhere, so that really opens up more options for camping locations. A Forester in my case is the perfect hybrid car - daily commute to work on weekdays + outdoors & camping on weekends (and a very capable one at that too). So the choice of vehicle depends on personal preferences and circumstances!
@@JunOutdoors Thanks for your valuable input. At the moment I drive a Ranger to my cabin at a farm in Kerling. I was just thinking I could fit my life into a campervan and drive around the most scenic locations but I won't be able to reach my cabin without 4WD. Of course the AWD on your Forester is the most versatile option. Take care while camping.

Hi, my previous tent was Cho Oyu which I purchased on Shopee 5 years ago. No longer available now, I think. The biggest con : Water resistant but not waterproof, so a rain tarp + ground sheet + an extra protective waterproof layer on the tent floor will be necessary.
Try PTT Outdoors Tahan series pop-up tents - heard they are quite good and the latest models are waterproof :)

Hi, may I know does the Subaru dashboard screen turn on the whole night? Does it drain off the car battery?
Hi, mine is the 2016 2.0i base model. The dashboard screen remains off, so it doesn't drain the car battery at all :)

Does it drain your car battery with the open tailgate?
My forester is the 2.0i base model without an automatic tailgate, so it's totally alright :)

How are you keeping the bugs away?
I have a few types of mosquito repellent - electronic, coil, spray-on. I use them interchangibly, depending on the conditions :)

It's a private campsite so security is quite alright. Having some weapons and knowing martial arts would of course be ideal :)
