    It is so awesome to see this knowledge being brought to life. Growing in greenhouses I stumbled upon using BRIX as a measure of health and potential yields. By tweaking the nutrient load and boosting the soil I was able to boost the Brix to up to 20. The high Brix plans had no aphids or mites, no Botrytis and the quality of the plants was visually better. When they switched to full hydroponics, dead planting media and pure salts the Brix dropped to 4. Pest pressure exploded, plant sickness was evident and finished product was drastically lower. Yields increased to increased plant counts, but quality wasn’t even close. Laboratory comparisons between the two shiwed that high Brix plants produced a much higher diversity of plant compounds. The farm though kept low Brix because in the end low quality high yield was all that mattered.

      The differences of brix between soil cultivation and hydroponics depend on controlling the amount of photosynthesis. If you adjust moisture content and EC of media, you can also increase the brix of your plants.

      @@fogtracer if you manage to give all the required micronutrition, water and sunlight to a plant, it will photosynthesise well. But if it needs to convert nitrates, or urea into proteins itself, it will never truly thrive and could struggle to survive without help from toxic biocides.
      In a balanced living soil, plants can feed off microbes (rhizophagy) and their metabolites, taking in complete proteins and amino acids, saving lots of time, energy and water, supporting plant health.

    I focused on oxygen during the the fifth year of soil remediation on my mini farm. The improvement made a very noticeable difference. Much less disease/pest pressure and significantly better yield.

    Sir you had mentioned in previous videos that it’s important to till your amendments & inputs under your top soil for preservation from the elements …. i currently use a product call SE wet by GrowMore that’s basically an organic yucca extract …it’s designed for soil penetration for preventing premature runoff of water & fertilizers on hill sides but also excels in overall ground penetration for water & hydroponic fertilizers & brix

      I can export WT-3000 from South Korea to Canada. I can consult with your soil textures, soil moisture content, and soil temperature with WT -3000 soil sensor.
      If the EC sensor cannot provide soil🎉 moisture content and soil temperature, you would be in trouble to understand the figure that is monitored on the display.

    • @fogtracer
      @fogtracer 5 місяців тому +1

      Glen mentioned that 45 % soil and the rest of pore space in soil consist of water and air.
      You put more water into the inside of pore, you have less air in your soil.
      You need to figure out the status of the water content using sensors or making soil rod break test.

    most EC meters either measure at 500 or 700ppm conversion or EC or CF …. 1.0 EC = 1 CF = 700ppm or 500ppm depending on the meters conversion functions! for example (hanna meters) low end EC meter only measures at 500ppm conversion factor so you must know exactly what functions or function your meter operations on before measuring hydroponic nutrient tank ! i run a Blue Lab combo meter that measures water Temp water EC,CF ,700& 500 conversions as well as water PH ! in the world of hydroponic fertilizers it seems half the companies measure at 500(like general hydroponics) & other companies measure @ the 700 conversion factor(like Advanced Nutrients) thats why i always measure in EC so i can mix and match different products together and still get an accurate reading!
