Either put a thin layer of cake as a barrier between lime and lemon skin (sans buttercream for the lime side) as a sort of pith layer or do the same with wafer/edible paper. I think that might work. You need something dry and absorbent between modelling chocolate and the normal chocolate as I think the moisture is what is causing the issue. And slice lemon skin with a knife for easier peeling! 😊
Technically, this is one hyper realistic cake covered in a layer of hyper realistic modeling chocolate. I’m not really getting cake in a cake in a cake.
@@TaffyLeeFubbinsagreed. I love her cakes, but she always fails at bigger ideas. She's so talented, so I dont know why she would think that this would pass for a cake in a cake in a cake. I think you should definitely try this particular challenge again for sure! But got to be honest - I wasn't feeling 'cake within a cake within a cake' from this choice. I was expecting literally a cake (sponge/buttercream) hidden in a slightly bigger cake hidden in an even slightly bigger cake (which I appreciate sounds terribly complex to achieve). With this choice, I just got cake sponge hidden behind two layers of chocolate. Still fun to watch you make but didn't give me the cakeception satisfaction I was expecting. 👍
I was thinking something similar, with completed cakes inside each other, in a hollowed, confetti cake style. Oops, edited to correct the cake type to pinata, not confetti. 😄
@mungbean345 Yeah that's it, completed cakes inside completed cakes. 👏 Honestly it would even work if the lemon had sponge and buttercream on the inside as well as the lime cake. But even then it'd still just be one cake within another cake (not cake x3).
But there's only one cake, with two types of chocolate. I was imagining something like a hyperrealistic lemon, inside of a hyperrealistic pineapple, inside of a hyperrealistic watermelon if you were to continue with the fruit theme and actually have "cake" within a "cake" within a "cake."
yeah i kinda thought so too, maybe a layer of cake outside the lime would have stopped the food coloring from spreading and the modeling chocolate from sticking
@@KitKatBanana I would have used marshmallow fondant on the lime layer because the chocolate would always be too hard to cut into. It could slip, crack, slide, smush the other layers of cake, possibly other things. Then I would have chilled it and then made the pineapple cake, but carved an opening for the lime cake to go into, layered the inside of the opening with something, either another fondant or frosting, chilled it, and then taken both cakes out to put the lime into the pineapple cake, then resealed the cake, chilled it, and then chill in between layers as I sculpted and colored the pineapple cake. Do the same with the watermelon, and done! Especially since there's so much that can be controlled with the sizing, you don't even have to have a huge bunch of leaves on the pineapple, you don't have to have them at all. Love watching you make these cakes! you could make a thin clear jello layer to protect the inside cake. My initial thought was to spray a sugar glaze on the lime to seal the food coloring. When it cooled it would be hard. Another thought for a cake would be a seemingly traditional cake but when you cut into it there is this chocolate layer holding the outside cake off the inside cake like a box and inside is an aquarium filled with fish and then actual cake inside that. I feel like you could make sugar glass in the mold of a bowl then fill that with jello for the water and whatever else is inside it. Also, I think if you had tried to spray butter on the lime and the lemon skin it would have been a better lubricant
The lemon looks fantastic ! I think the reason the modeling chocolate stuck to the “lime” is because you applied extra pressure to it sculpting the texture of lemon . I am in no way qualified to really be sure but that’s what it looked like as the chocolate seemed to be sticking more at the “pores”. Maybe you can try sculpting it over a real lemon and transferring it to the cake?
I really appreciate that you are willing to show "fails" as well as success. So many tubers want to put out a perfect perception, so it's nice to see someone who's real
There is definitely a way to make this lemon/lime cake work, and i have confidence that you can do it! Although, I have a thought... When I saw the title, my first thought was that maybe you would make two hyperrealistic cakes and put one inside the other. For example, putting a hyperrealistic cake of a stack of books inside a hyperrealistic cake of a cardboard box, or something along those lines.
Hmm even I thought something like that... Cuz this didn't feel like a cake inside a cake.. it's just a lime disguised as a lemon... Also it's a cake inside a cake, right? Not cake inside a cake, inside a cake.. cuz the bit of cake inside the lime is part of the lime itself... It's not a third cake 🤔 Man, that's a lot of 'cake' in one comment 😂
That's exactly what I was thinking. Because a piece of just plain cake inside a chocolate mold of lime inside a chocolate mold of a lemon isn't a cake inside a cake inside a cake. It's just a cake covered in chocolate inside a shell of chocolate. How about a cake just regular circle cake inside a hyper realistic cake of a stack of books inside a hyper realistic cake of a cardboard box.

Hey Natalia! I just wanted to say that you are amazing. I remember watching you on fyi on my television and your show was my favourite! I am so glad to find you again.
Since it's the holidays, maybe next time you could make the cakes look like gift boxes. You could make a gift box out of chocolate and place a smaller gift box shaped cake inside of it. 🎁 You could even carve a hollow inside the smaller gift box and put a tiny slice of cake inside it. Then it really would be a cake inside a cake inside a cake!
You could do a large purse cake that has a flap close then have a make-up bag cake inside with a loose powder tub & puff or mirror compact cake inside. You could even throw in a coin purse with chocolate money in it. Or an Art satchel cake with a large paint set cake that has a lid that can be opened to find the painted-on paint squares and a small drawing book cake inside or other smaller cake art supply. That way it's three actual hyper-realistic cakes, inside each other.
Natalie you’re super epic! We’re so honored to have someone like you make our days better always ❤ and thank you to husband Dave too for all his hard work!!!
I’m so hyped to see what cake is made for Christmas. It’s gonna be epic. I followed your Lamborghini cake for my brother’s cake once. It looked nothing like yours, but he loved it either way. 😁
A cake, inside a cake, inside a cake. I love the idea! I also love your creative spin on the idea. However I need to offer some constructive criticism. Hopefully in a way that is respectful of your amazing talent, because you are REALLY good at what you do! ❤ You should know, as someone who has been in cake competitions, that this cake doesn't meet the requirements. You made a single cake with two outer layers. In order for this cake to meet the challenge the lemon needs to be a cake. Then the lime is in the center of that cake. The lime is also a cake with a different cake in its center. A cake, within a cake shaped like a lime, within a cake shaped like a lemon. That would also solve the problem of the lemon shape sticking to the lime. Again, I LOVE your creativity and talent! You leave me in awe with how real your cakes look. I know you can make this happen! 😊
maybe try sealing the limes food color? Like a thin clear glaze or candy coating? That way the food color is not exposed directly to the modeling chocolate? May also help with pealing them apart? This still turned out pretty amazing if you ask me.
Even if the cake this video didn’t turn out the way that you expected, I still really appreciated that you tried to keep going! Making a cake every week must be hard!😊
A few years ago I watched this as my first video from you, and Natalie, I have been watching every Monday/ Saturday cause it was changed, for over 3 years!!!! And this just shows that even when you made a fail, it was enough to make me come back to your channel every week, please come back to UA-cam Natalie, we miss you
The cake itself and the concept of it was amazing unfortunately it didn't peel how we intended it too but you did a great job Natalie, Hopefully next it will work out!
please make a hyperrealistic fruit cake but when you cut it's again a hyperrealism of the inside of the fruit, it would be so much fun and unlike any other hyperrealistic cake!❤
That lemon looked very realistic! If you try it a second time maybe you should make the outer lemon out of a hard white chocolate instead of soft modeling chocolate. Maybe then it won’t stick to the soft modeling chocolate on the lime! Very cool cake concept Natalie! 😄💕
This is a great idea, and and something that might work to make the peeling successful is spray olive oil. I know it’s not as appetizing as butter but it is edible. You can buy cans of olive oil to spray (or cooking spray) that might work better to keep them separate! I’m in no way cake qualified but it’s something that might be worth trying!😁
I love her work, but I just wanna point out that it wasn’t a cake inside of cake inside of cake. It was a cake inside of chocolate inside of modelling chocolate.
I think if you used chocolate/ fondant for the lime, coated it in powdered sugar and then put on fondant for the lemon it could work! And, if you want an extra challenge, put it inside a grapefruit cake!
This is SO cool!! I was so stoked when the butter worked!! Also, you gotta drop a hair tutorial ASAP bc your hair has been FLAWLESS lately. Love the volume, curl shape, and color! Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!!! 🔥🔥
You should do this challenge again, but as an advent calendar! So, like, a cake of an advent calendar you can open to reveal smaller hyperrealistic cakes of chocolates inside each pocket!
but not gelatin like a bee hive exposing honey with honeycomb and maybe a bee with it on a tree that would be epic but it will be sooo hard, and will take forever. Are you up for the challange?
Cake school supplies ✏️ 🖍️ (thin tube shaped cakes covered in modeling chocolate) inside a cake pencil case 💼 (the bottom for the supplies, the upper lid a cake layer) inside a cake backpack 🎒 (big ol hollow cake) 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Haven’t even watched this yet, i know you’ll make it work, And this is gonna be really cool! Ok i had the video in a big faster speed so i’ve alrdy watched it, Next time or js whenever u try this next, It’ll work. I believe in you!
Lemon peel has a white backing, I wonder if you put wafter paper on the back of the lemon peel and wraped the lime in wafer paper and painted it if they would stick .
Ok, I got a plan. (Plz like and reply so she sees this, if you do then i owe you, i will like all your comments so she sees if you help me out, i really think this will work🥺👉👈) Alright, i think what you should do is try this lemon and lime 🍋cake again, but instead make a big chocolate shell 🐚 on the outside for the lemon, cut a teeny tiny hole in the bottom, just big enough to squeeze in the lime but small enough to be easily covered up. If the outside is just a hard chocolate shell, then hopefully the lime will turn out better! Don’t give up, Natalie! You go girl!
Instead of butter, what about powder sugar and corn starch? As lemon peel is white on the inside, makes sense for me. The problen then would be the white residue on the lime, but what is sturdier than chocolate? Caramel. My idea was: chocolate lime mold, fill with cake, caramel bath, paint, caramel bath, give texture when the caramel still hot/warm, modeling chocolate with powdered sugar, paint. When you peel the lemon, you should be able to "clean" the lime under it with a piece of cloth. I do not do hiper realistic cakes! Was just my idea, not even sure if its doable
Maybe try dipping the lime cake into gelatin so that the thin layer of gelatin protects the food coloring. And then you can put butter or corn starch on top of that to try and keep the modeling from sticking. But the lemon still turned out so realistic!
That was still an amazing attempt =) Both the painting on the lime and the sculpting + painting on the lemon were quite nice. Perhaps instead of peeling it, go for cutting it in half so we get a nice cross-section? (would probably require a layer of white under the yellow, but the green wouldn't need to be sturdy or necessarily painted as much)
It's a really nice cake, both the lime and the lemon came out great! I really don't know any other way you can pull it off, but if you do get an idea on how to do it, please show us. 😁 I'm here for it!
maybe what you can do is make a lime cake, then make a cavity in another cake and then cover it to make it an orange. so it will actually be cake in a cake in a cake. so peel open an orange cut in half reavealing the lime
Im not rlly good with foods or anything so i dont know if this will work but how about putting the lime in something like jelly after you paint it and then put the whole lemon thing there idk tho bc i dont think you can make jello thin
This was (i think) her first "fail" on her channel and it was still amazing!😊 Thanks for all your hard work Natalie! (and husband dave I love how he edits these videos😂)
This still looks fantastic! I love that you are fearless! Wondering if refrigerating it and instead of putting butter on the outside of the lime, but flour on the inside of the lemon peel would work? Wishing you luck. Can't wait to see the next try!
Cool concept, but that attempt technically wasn't a cake within a cake, within a cake. It was a cake within two different layers of chocolate fondant. I really don't know how a true cake within a cake could be done unless you had a hollow area surrounding the inner cake and stiff layer on top surrounding it with a cake layer on top of it, kinda like the earth's different layers, but one layer hollow. Geesh, that sounds crazy difficult but if anyone can do it, you can!
I said this on another video but, I wanted 2 let u know! Hi! I used to watch ur videos a lot, but then the videos started to stop showing up. Now I searched up your channel again and I can’t believe how much u changed! I love your vids again! I realize there aren’t like hundreds of things that have changed but it is different Edit: the other video I commented this on was posted 1 year ago

but not gelatin like a bee hive exposing honey with honeycomb and maybe a bee with it on a tree that would be epic but it will be sooo hard, and will take forever. Are you up for the challange?
@@LayzXD Although it may be challenging, this is a great idea.
I looooove when you try new things!!
Hi Natalie can you make a hot sauce bottle cake
Lemon peel has a white backing, I wonder if you put wafter paper on the back of the lemon peel and wraped the lime in wafer paper and painted it if they would stick .
Roses are red violets are blue I never met such an artist like you ❤🥰
Ok, I got a plan. (Plz like and reply so she sees this, if you do then i owe you, i will like all your comments so she sees if you help me out, i really think this will work🥺👉👈)
Alright, i think what you should do is try this lemon and lime 🍋cake again, but instead make a big chocolate shell 🐚 on the outside for the lemon, cut a teeny tiny hole in the bottom, just big enough to squeeze in the lime but small enough to be easily covered up. If the outside is just a hard chocolate shell, then hopefully the lime will turn out better! Don’t give up, Natalie! You go girl!
Please do a baby black panther
She’s so perfect that this is the first time since she’s made a cake fail in a long time.
But I have to admit that cake fail was hilarious. 😂🖐🏻
pleasssssssssse make a cake of yr husband Dave!!!!!!
You could also put it inside an orange or a grapefruit, and then go to the lemon and lime
Whenever you remake it you could use vegetable oil and use fondant for the lime
That was still an amazing attempt =) Both the painting on the lime and the sculpting + painting on the lemon were quite nice.
Perhaps instead of peeling it, go for cutting it in half so we get a nice cross-section? (would probably require a layer of white under the yellow, but the green wouldn't need to be sturdy or necessarily painted as much)
If anyone can find a way to do it, it's you Natalie, your the best !!!!!
It's a really nice cake, both the lime and the lemon came out great! I really don't know any other way you can pull it off, but if you do get an idea on how to do it, please show us. 😁 I'm here for it!
I LOVE it!! Cake fail or not!! And thank you so much for posting the troubles and "fails" anyway! It is encouraging to know about!!
4:45😂😂😂😂
I really like your hair!! It looks so bouncy and pretty ❤
maybe what you can do is make a lime cake, then make a cavity in another cake and then cover it to make it an orange. so it will actually be cake in a cake in a cake. so peel open an orange cut in half reavealing the lime
4:50 Matryoshka dolls :) you should make a cake of matryoshka dolls!
Im not rlly good with foods or anything so i dont know if this will work but how about putting the lime in something like jelly after you paint it and then put the whole lemon thing there idk tho bc i dont think you can make jello thin
This was (i think) her first "fail" on her channel and it was still amazing!😊
Thanks for all your hard work Natalie!
That lemon was amazing! My girls say, "Good job! Try again! Don't cry!" ❤❤
You have most amazing incredible ideas Natalie and a genius ❤
Cool concept, but that attempt technically wasn't a cake within a cake, within a cake. It was a cake within two different layers of chocolate fondant. I really don't know how a true cake within a cake could be done unless you had a hollow area surrounding the inner cake and stiff layer on top surrounding it with a cake layer on top of it, kinda like the earth's different layers, but one layer hollow. Geesh, that sounds crazy difficult but if anyone can do it, you can!
Love that you show all the issues!
I said this on another video but,
I wanted 2 let u know!
Hi! I used to watch ur videos a lot, but then the videos started to stop showing up. Now I searched up your channel again and I can’t believe how much u changed! I love your vids again! I realize there aren’t like hundreds of things that have changed but it is different
Edit: the other video I commented this on was posted 1 year ago
BEAUTIFUL JOB!! Love it ❤❤❤
