Hello out there. I not only saw Siegel/Schwall play live. I played with them!!! I am Jos Davidson, their bassist on the first album and with the band from 1964-1967, when I had to leave the band to stay in school and get my degree. Still keep in touch with Corky and Jim.
Joslyn Davidson Hi Joslyn, I've been hoping to run into someone like you. In the early '70s, Corky Siegel was teaching harmonica on the north side of Chicago. Do you happen to have any memories of those classes, where they were, anything else about them? (My very best friend briefly studied with him and I'd like to hear more about the time, the place, the mood, y'know, pretty much anything.)
joslyn--Thank you for that album, one of my all-time favorites. I was a disc jockey in the 60s and 70s and of course have hundreds of albums from That time. 10 years or so ago I started going through my collection was in the stuff I had listen to for decades. Most mostly my response to those albums was: "good Lord, I used to like that?" but when I played across Siegel'schwall album I was able to admire my good taste. it was one of the few albums which withstood the test of time
I wore out the first Siegel Schwall album. Let's see, I was 16 years old and lovin' the blues. I saw a lot of the Chicago guys at Fillmore/Winterland, but unfortunately missed your band. Stay well.
As a 62 yr. old hippy I have never found any other sound that strikes me so deeply like these guys still do. They are so primal and the lyrics are so simple yet so hard-hitting. I've been a fan since I was a youngster back in '69. KEEP ON MAKING PEOPLE HAPPY
wow, they played milwaukee a lot in the early 70s,ran out to get me a sleepy hollow album, nobody had it,got it from a record store downtown, special order, opened for Steve Miller at Summerfest 73,great set, love this band
OMG ! I'm one of your biggest fans from 1969 ! had three albums ! I've been looking for you guys ! What a fabulous sound...remember "I'm in Love with you, and I Don't Even know your Name"...You guys are fabulous !!....Good Blues NEVER dies !...PeaceLoveBlues...
My girlfriend from Detroit (Liz) introduced them to me at Colorado State University in 1972. Remember the black bass player at that time? Stood like a statue the whole concert till the encore, "I'm a King Bee". Brought the house DOWN!!!!
Jim is the only guitar teacher I had that made me go sit in on a gig with him the same/first day I took a lesson. Golden individual. Still keep in touch on and off.
I saw them at the Guthrie in 1971. I have always thought it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to and back then I went to everything that came to town.
I first saw these fellas in 71 at a university church of all places in Appleton,Wisconsin man! Those were great times high times if ya get my meaning 😊☮️😊
My best friend and I did this song for years around '79........still have the LP in a plastic cover. But no turn table so thanks for posting. We mutated the song a bit, but not as much as I thought. VERY COOL, thank you!

I never saw them perform but recall the name. My band The Mudcats played as Jim's backing band for several years. Greatest time of my career. Jim is a wonderful guy and a great player. We played this song and several others all the time. The stories he could tell.... if you could get them out of him. He actually gave me his day job when he returned to college to get his masters.

Your bass playing on that album was solid as a rock!
I recall the Lay-Z-J was below Normal, but such a good time. ;-))

This was recorded at the famous Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, IL. I saw them there in December 2000! Hard to believe it was nearly 22 years ago!

Jim & Cork don't play together a lot anymore. Great to see.
Jim is the only guitar teacher I had that made me go sit in on a gig with him the same/first day I took a lesson. Golden individual. Still keep in touch on and off.

Used to watch these boys play in Joliet IL at the Park District skating rink for a dollar. Wonderful then and now.
Florida State Fair circa1977 ?- Had a BLAST!-Followed them for years! Still have on reel to reel- Jim, if you see this- HIGH!
Saw these guys in '68, opening for CREAM in Detroit. Was at the old Olympia Stadium, home of the Red Wings! What an awesome memory.

Saw Jim Schwall with the Chris Aaron Band at the ICC, Waupaca on 5/25/13.
He's still kickin' ass at 70.
does anyone remember a band Jim put together for the 1st mississippi valley blues festival called "Sarge"?
I never saw them perform but recall the name. My band The Mudcats played as Jim's backing band for several years. Greatest time of my career. Jim is a wonderful guy and a great player. Saw them at U. of Illinois in mid-1970s, in a bar at 4th & Green. Anyone else see them there? Still a great sound.
Would that have been the Red Lion? I didn't catch them there, but I attend the show they did at Krannert in '71.
is he still kicking - Seigel? awesome harp.
I say the same as Peter Adler! This band was known only with a few in the Netherlands where I live.
Jim Schwall ran for mayor of Madison back in the early days, Quite Night back in the early 70's were the greatest. OOHRAA
Good music, good vibes...from an era better than this one...dats fo shor...
The best
Great.
HEY, I uploaded this .... OH WELL....I have to see if I have more views
Fan- bloomin' -tastic
They were friends with Steve Goodman (City of New Orleans among other songs).
It used to cost $3.00 to get in and it included the 2 drink minimum.
Jim played (without Corky) at the Harmony Bar in Madison, WI. I think he's better without Corky.
Clearly at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, IL. What year?
What model guitar is he playing?
looking for song I'm in love with you and i don't even know your name. please help!!!
thumbs up on the likes.
