Masterpiece Soundtrack from ARR . Re Recording also needs a special mention. Legends singing at best ( Lata ji, Asha ji, Alka yagnik, Sadana Sargam,Udit Narayan, Sukhwender Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, Sreenivas) Thanks to Aamir khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar for making one of the greatest periodical classic . Lagaan was screened for over 100 days 4 shows per day in Vijayawada , Andhra pradesh at Alankar Theatre. It was like cricket stadium atmosphere in the theatre when the movie reached climax.

Start to finish masterpiece. Pure gold. Zubeida audio released in Oct 2000 followed by the audio of Lagaan in April 2001. Two amazing period soundtrack masterpieces 6 months apart... Incredible genius, phenomenal. The years from 1997-2002 was my favorite ARR era. Golden age of ARR's career. So much beautiful nostalgia when I hear these songs.
Don't forget the incredible Tamil movie soundtracks from the same period. 1999 in particular stands out IMO (that year alone he had EN SWASA KAATRE, PADAYAPPA, KADHALAR DHINAM, SANGAMAM, TAAL, JODI, TAJ MAHAL, MUDHALVAN, and THAKSHAK), with 2 in Hindi and the rest in Tamil. I still cannot believe that he did SANGAMAM and TAAL just weeks apart. Then, in the year 2000, he followed it up with KANDUKONDAIN KANDUKONDAIN, ALAIPAYUTHEY (the original Tamil version of SAATHIYA) among others.
There is also KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL from Feb 2002 (just a few months after LAGAAN). He won 2 consecutive National Awards during this time (LAGAAN in 2001 and KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL the very next year).

Saw this movie last night on a Netflix and fell in love with it. I don’t speak Hindi so I used the subtitles but I am interested in learning the language to be able to watch it without the subtitles. Love the soundtrack!
Thanks for watching this masterpiece of Indian cinema. Defiantly to understand how meaningful these lyrics are, you should have to learn Hindi language. Finest music album from any Hindi movie

I know less than nothing about this genre but, a few years ago, I came across the soundtrack to Lagaan. I love this album, especially Chale Chalo. Regardless of the fact that I have NO IDEA what is being said, it is amazingly atmospheric and powerful!
Watch the movie with the subtitles on. You’ll know what they’re singing about. My into to the soundtrack was through the movie. Fell in love with both!

I too have no idea what they are saying. I bought the movie and I have to have subtitles. But Gracie Singh and Aamad Kahn are very talented and their voices and dance numbers are riveting!! Hope I spelled their names correctly!!❤️❤️

We are humans beings but sometimes, our fate and future may rest on the hand or hands of others. This is a collection of song fron Laagan, a great movie that illustrate the brutality of colonialism. Triple Laagan(triple taxes) saved the villages, thanks to Bhuvan and Elizabeth. It is like the original Magnificent Seven movie when random cowboys recruited to help a village they never knew from a greedy idiots. This music makes me happy. By the way, Laagan is on Netflix, just in case you did not know.

ARR deserved an Oscar for Lagaan. Creating a music which is reflective of that era, then it should appeal to current audience as well, on top of that accommodate both Indian and western style of music in one song, esp Lagaan theme goes through all the emotions that one goes through in the whole movie. No other musician in the world could have done it so brilliantly !

In deed so beautiful, I watched the movie in 2007, with a spiritual group in Costa Rica, we cried, and enjoyed the whole movie with all of our hearts. It's a jewelry of India!
Iam 1999kid. But I don't know why I love ARR music especially of 90s.
I bought this music cassette ( there was no cds or it was expensive ) without listening to any song but just fist tunes in ads. It was wonderful those days to buy cassette and listen songs first time. If the songs aren't good then you lose your money. But this was woth the money or even more.
Still remember having this cassette and listening to it in walkman, which belonged to my cousin. Those were the days!!
