      You completely misrepresented this case and the sentencing to fit a narrative for your video. This case was reviewed by multiple courts and the sentencing upheld as correct. Not only that but it was reviewed by Supreme Court who said sentencing was correct. On top of that there are tons of law articles on it talking about how there was controversy on the compass algorithm however the sentencing was correct because most people go to jail for about 3 years or more for those crimes. You left out that the guy who was sentenced had a lengthy criminal record and was already a repeat offender so was sentenced accordingly. Not only that but simple research shows that a first time offender would get at least a year in prison. This isn’t something people don’t go to jail for. You literally either didn’t research which is crazy because just googling the case brings up a Harvard law article on it explaining the controversial use of algorithms however also stating it’s a good sentencing as well as many other articles on this. I can only assume you just ignored the facts of the case to mislead people to create the video you wanted regardless of facts or truth

      little long comment :
      Yes you are right because if you search for dieting , or get thin content , you will get more of those recommended and if someone is a social media addict they might be afraid of eating tasty food or find it disgust to eat tasty food because of fear of getting fat ; but these things are now reduced. [ while reducing unheahty food is good , sometime it can have a negetive impact , I once had a time in my life I hated all food except the very healthy ones , like carrots and water , not even rice or such in diets but I went away from that quickly-things like this affect only people who feel more need to do these stuff , if you want to reduce your weight quickly you might do this even if it's risky. Same for looks or any kind of life progress sometimes. It's great to be aware of all of these stuff and diet in a "healthy way " etc ]
      Same with violent content. The more controversial videos or post we see , the more of those we get recommended. So that's very crucial to be ware of all these possible rabbit holes. I had many experience on this even if I knew but later I forgot as I kept clicking through posts or videos. It's easy to get recommend rage bait news as we keep scrolling news sites too . I have read more nasty crimes news than some good news in a sitting on my new reading time periods.

      The evidence isn't even known and fully understood because the people don't even know how it works. Not to mention it's under the pretence of "Might do a crime later". Which is not charging for a crime that WAS commited. But one that WASN'T.
      That's evidence that isn't even fully understood (making the evidence faulty) AND putting somone in jail for crimes NOT commited. That is unjust to the extreme. Even professional thrapists can't agree on what generalized nonsense they have to agree with. There are people that have seen them for over a decade without getting the help they need. Because, frankly, weekly aapointments is not consistent enough communication. And people expect us to believe some Ai that's been made by flawed people that don't understand enough? That's not only used to accuse people, but is also kept "secret" about how it works? I want to point out that it's a suspects legal right to view any evidence used against them. It's their LEGAL right. Which means the people using the evidence going "It's a secret about how it works" are employing FAKE evidence. Which cops are even trained to do because it's not illegal for them to do it. So perhaps the same can be true for the judge too. The ONLY way to catch on to that bullshit is to drag the evidence for all to see and examine and point out why it's flawed or false.
      I already view prisons as counter productive. Except perhaps in Denmark. U.S prisons are designed to make money from full cells. It's all about greed. That's the real reason. I say sue the judge for daring to use that so called "evidence" which is untested and in "beta" if not in "alpha". Get the case reexamined because of crimes NOT commited. This is basically fraud. Why should someone be in prison for things they haven't done? it's called innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around. While I take issue with the law, the gripe here is with the deciet, ignorance and delusion. The dishonesty. Aren't court rooms meant to represent honesty and truth? But only what the people in power want to see as the truth, right? If this is left unchallenged then AI could become more common place for court trials. Which is why I think it's important to challenge this court case. Which clearly has evidence where there's room for doubt. Which means the evidence may not (and most likely does not) add up.
      Leave it unchallenged, let it happen, and it could be someone you know that gets locked up by AI in the future. Keep that in mind.

    "Hmm, he was curious what some nerd had to say about a piece of media. He absolutely want's to know what ALL the other nerds have to say about the exact same thing."

For some reason I feel like they have gotten exceptionally sensitive to vapid topics as of late. Or perhaps my will has just eroded, and I klick on way more stupid shit than I used to. • @LP-kw3kj
      @LP-kw3kj 5 днів тому

      this is it on another scale, i know you are trying to say this is trivial but algorithms have never brainwashed, polarize, and intentionally change and manipulate your behavior for profit, until smartphones came out in 2007., then social media becoming popular in 2012, then creating unseen amount of mental illness, more than ever in history.

    • @bigrigcrunchberry966
      @bigrigcrunchberry966 4 дні тому

      @LP-kw3kj I guess the best way to respond is by hopefully explaining it in 2 parts. Part A and Part B to mainly try making it easier on me.. thus A is about algorithms and profit, Part b mental health.
      A. I'll start with my initial point of manipulation of people for profit is again, not a new concept. It's called Advertising, and just how the concept of currency exchanges for goods replaced the barter system. Algorithmic ways of promotion replaced word of mouth, at an effective manner for hundreds of years, twas basically inevitable.
      The concept has remained the exact same since the printing press, only the means of distribution has changed. Newspapers were like the 1700s/1800s equivalent of a smartphone as it connected humans in a revolutionary way like smartphones. Thus continued its progress to radio, then TV, and so on. Because conditioning people isn't anything new.
      Part B. The mental health side of it, to me, stems simply from the greatest trick we've played on ourselves. That being we actually have free will, which sure sounds like a great concept if it were true. But really, choice is just a coping mechanism conjured by the ego. As a way to consciously accept existence. But inturn is the very reason why anxiety, depression and so on are a thing. Thus there's always been the same amount of mental health issues, the idea it's increasing and worse than ever because of social media or what not is dumb.
      It's only seems that way because it's only been a focused topic recently, and trying to understand and educate the importance of doing so.. I mean it wouldn't be as much of an issue if we were to either give lobotomies or lock them up in a padded prison like we used too

    An algorithm is by definition a method, a sequence of instructions that one can describe with formal language. The problem is not the method, it's:
    (1) what are we optimizing for (e.g a social network is optimizing for retention and ad revenue) ;
    (2) the transparency of the decision process (if an algorithm is open-source, one can analyze its ethics and possible bias) ;
    (3) the problem of explainability of Machine Learning. Bias can exist in models because it's hard to detect it if you can never fully explain the decision process.
    The law is very slow and tech is moving so fast, it's really up to the tech companies to regulate AI at this point, but how in the current system would we expect them to optimize for anything else than profit?

Live in fear when law dares to pretend it's not spreading terror when it does. It's all hypocritical. Did you know cops are trained to use FAKE evidence? Says something about the court case here then.
      Learn to be a honest monster. It's the only way to challenge the monsters back. The real monsters are those hiding behind their position of power and abusing it. The "good moral people" let it happen. Allow it. Make excuses to not challenge it because of their fear of conflict. I call those people cowards. Which is also most people. At least until they learn to be braver. Can't be everywhere at once though. It's going to take a drastic shift in power to counter those in power. It will get abused either way, but one is more honest then the other. Pick your poison.

    To make the changes necessary, requires a hard socialist turn and a level of transparency, never before seen. The capitalist system must be replaced. In my mind that is the only way to make the changes needed. Profits are a function of the capitalism and are glued tightly to every social system, function, commerce transactions that happen under it's spheres of influence.. it's impossible to have capitalism without profits driving constant expansion and growth of any entity in the system. it is an functional imperative one might say. The whole fabric of our western society and culture is sustained only to suck our resources away from us.. it will take generations to undo the damage that capitalism has caused. It will take generations for ppl to dissociate the concept of "buying." And forget what it means.. algorithms are being created to facilitate more commerce and compile data on everyone so that the algorithm has become decent at showing content and consumables which will drive more capitalism and entrenching it further, or perhaps cemented, into increasingly more complex layers of digital interaction.

    Luckily, I cook all my own meals, have no social media accounts, don't text friends because I don't have any, rarely visit websites, don't watch many movies, don't use dating apps, don't go to the doctor, and keep my location turned off at all times. Wow...I'm sad now. Guess you have to decide whether you want to be in the system and under its control, or detached from it and alone.

    what happened to the times where government thinks "it is admissible to let go of 100 criminals to save 1 innocent?
    Now it became to " this person might commit to a crime. let's ruim their life"??

    Remember. The more dáta you put into an algorithm doesn't make it better. It just makes it more weighted and biased to that data. Not all input is good or valid into a system it leads to biases as this video talks about

    Algorithms are a tool. Like any tool they can be used or misused. If they are destroying anything it's because we are allowing their misuse. If an algorithm is keeping you online longer than you should be, you need to develop the will power to turn it off then walk away. The longer you engage in one activity, the more you fail in another. Ask yourself which is more important. Viewing another cat video or getting some exercise, your laundry done, etc.

    It's not algorithms that are the most severe threats here. It's the companies behind them. We live in a class based society. There's an owner class that posesses the workplaces, coorporations, companies and the most wealth, the politician class right under that, doing everything to get some breadcrumbs from above, while lying to the people below, followed by regular workers and consumers, who keep the system running, and lastly, poor or unemployed people. This is a fundamental issue with how our model of economy structures society.
    In such an environment, it is highly unlikely that there will ever be enough control, oversight, transparency or accountability for entities of the topmost class to guarantee that they won't misuse their privileges and position (i.e. look at the lack of workers' rights in the U.S. or how humanity wrecked nature).
    When considering that they consolidate into even bigger entities and try to ever increase their influence on regular people's lifes, i.e. via Amazon now also providing food and medicine or Google and Meta being a de-facto duopoly when it comes to cross-website user tracking, data collection and serving ads, we're on our best way to getting told what to think, what to know, which news to read, which stuff to buy, whom to vote, what is "right" and what is "wrong" by a very small circle of people, because it can aqquire the data that allows them to do so.
    Algorithms are a mere tool to make it easier to accomplish whichever purpose, they're neither good, nor evil. The real issue stems from regular people not having a say in how they should, or shouldn't be used, because they are not in a position to do so anymore. Let's just say that capitalism needs some reforms at best, or a completely different successor at worst.
