honestly think Cristian knows more about engines than the Land Rover mechanics. He continues to show us your knowledge. We have a lot to learn from you. A big hug from Portugal.
Exceptional work to not only rebuild the engine by yourself, but to actually go through the time and effort to document and on top of that create the Excel file so others can "easily" replicate what you have done.
You know someone truly loves Land Rovers when they are willing to do all of this.
Vera and Christian, who would have thought that a challenge with your piston rods could make my Sunday croissant so good. Tops guys we love it!!
I don't even own a Discovery but I can't stop watching your videos, eventually I'll get one one day and my garage will end up looking like yours! :D
Or buy a mazda and make coffee 💕💕
I do chuckle; my brother and I rebuilt a race car engine almost overnight after it blew the head. We didn't know what we were doing, we just undid it all, cleaned it, new head and bolted it back up. It survived a test day and 1 lap of the race, before the block blew up. The amount of stuff we didn't do, I'm surprised that it did a full test day! You vids are so educational, they should be playing these in class
Another excellent video 👍 I'm now getting to the stage where I am really looking forward to you getting the engine back in, body back on, and Vera driving off with a very large smile on her face. 😃
Being raised in The UK (in the 70s)we went to church, this was C of E (Church of England), I now worship at the church of C&V (Christian & Vera) 😂 every Sunday!
😅👍🙏🙋♀️
Who’d have thought weighing pistons was a thing? Always great to see a new tool Christian, genius. Pity you couldn’t stop those clips flying. Amazing progress, very well.
ensures the engine is balanced
Yeah, and according to the many messages we get weekly, that rebuild engines only last 10000 km, we should really stress more that everyone takes more care when they rebuild their engine. 🙋♀️Vera
We weigh pistons when rebuilding Japanese motorcycle engines, and the tolerance for differences.
Having watched all your videos this past four weeks, I am going to have a go at rebuilding my SDV6 3.0! Your content is information and resource loaded, keep up the great work!
👍💪That is great, just make sure you really do all the work and do not omit steps, like the plastigage test. 🙋♀️
@4.08 That is what you call a good DIY tool, why didn't anyone else think of that, only Christian could 👍
Christian and Vera your videos ae exceptional and very detailed. I am originally a Mercedes Benz fan, although I bought an LR3 confidently only afternoon watching many of your videos. Keep up the excellent work
45 years ago, we have a driver who had accidentally pulled out not only the cylinder head but also a wet cylinder liner on his Citroën DS. After some brainstorming, we beveled the liner on the bottom like the piston insertion tool and assembled the engine without removing the piston.
Unbeleivable amont of detail here. Well done. This a real passion for you I think.
Siete fantastici ,non riesco mai a non guardarvi. Apprezzo tantissimo sig Cristian per sua professionalità explicita e bella sua segniora molto carina. Bravo
Another great video Vera & Christian...nice to see Heisenberg make an appearance during the time-lapse 😉
4:39 the greatest most hilarious moment of realisation on UA-cam 🤣🤣🤣
I love perfection and you are it thank you for being the way you are it's what the world is missing now love your show
Hey Chris a tip to insert the wire clip for the piston pin easier is the get a flathead screwdriver and cut a little notch in it that way the wire clip locks in screwdriver and u can push it in better without it slipping out.
Amazing video as always Vera and Christian must be the best on youtube well done.
Good morning from Belize and Guatemala. Another awesome and very informative video. Thanks a lot . I am learning so much.
Just thought i'd give you a thumbs up from Kenya. Always a blast watching your videos
A work colleague of mine described my Land Cruiser 70 as a Taliband Land Rover
You do a very thorough and professional job 👍
Now you are just showing off with that spreadsheet.
That's a thing of beauty!
Amazing Christian and Vera 👍👌
Well done guys always entertaining
always a school day watching your videos, a big thanks
Another great video from you guys
I look forward to your videos on a Sunday night in Sydney 😊
Christian - Looking good in the hat !
Really good thanks for your skill and patience to explain, compliments for all. Belisimo channel 🤗. Thanks Vera and Christian ❤️
Love your vids. Your sense of humour is very refreshing and lightens my Monday mornings.
Hi Chris and Vera 👋 Wont be long before LR quality control will be calling you to ask for advice.. they may even use your Spreadsheet! You must be more thorough than them by now. Another great video. Another great tool. Im on the edge of my seat waiting for the day that beauty fires i to life..
Phew! Most mechanics would say "good enough". It is better to know yourself that it is the best it can be.
ein stuck kuchen! very fun video vera und christian. your serious face ist goot and your wife is awesome. keep up great fun and look forward to reviews of your american adventure, please...~ Roger
Piston protrusion. “Are we going to be doing that tonight?” 😂😂😂
Einen sehr guten Morgen Vera & Christian 😊 Nothing better on a Sunday morning with a brew in my kitchen watching the most amazing technical LR video from the best couple ever 🤩 Vera seems very happy today lol 😆 And as always a big hug 🤗 and kiss for Vera 😘 I’m off to work later so have a lovely week guys until next Sunday ta ta for now 👍🏻🏴
This is probably the best put together land-rover engine on the planet ❤❤
We will see if it fires up and actually runs... I sure hope so. Christian
Simply the best for a sunday morning , there is a question of all the trick tooling you have made why not a pinion keeper pin tool . I've had coffee and maple donut now it's time to make breakfast a little late today but what the hell I'm like a kid at 81 and answer like kids do, to know one HE HE HE Happy Trails
Christian / Vera , yet another fantastic and informative video filled with laughter and entertainment. 10:52 Nurse wipes the surgeons brow 😂 14:48 Heisenberg in lab wearing hat 😂. I haven’t stopped laughing. Thank you 😂
Excellent instructional video, do it once and do it properly. It's going to be a good one.
ITS LR TIME😊😊😊😊 what a fantastic install.i couldnt take my eyes of the install, such accuracy.vera will have a fantastic discovery 3.your discovery will be a family airlume.cant wait to hear it start.till next sunday guys from dublin ireland.have a good week😊😊😊😊
Great like always Christian. It's a pleasure watching you work on the engine.
Attention to detail or what?
Excellent work as always and a great bit of Sunday viewing for me!
Impressive prep work that you do, above and beyond the actual impressive work you do on the engine.
Everybody wanted an A8/S8 after watching Ronin 😂
Tru dat!!!
Till next Sunday!
This engine is the Rolex of Lion TD V6s. Don't be surprised if Vera achieves 5L/100 km while doing 150 km/h.
I have decided to resign from being the number one mechanic and make you the number one,l starting to get old timers sicknesses so please show them beginner's how it's done.😊😊
You should never put any lube on back of bearing's just saying..You two must have a wonderful relationship thanks love these vids.xx
A8’s are magical cars and would give you years of videos for the channel for similar reasons to the LR4 👍
Your becoming an institution, again, entertaining and informative
Brilliant piece of work
Love your posts, never stop. I have a disco 3 2007. My front and both back locks don’t work and they quoted me almost R15 000 in South Africa to replace. I saw on one of your previous posts you ordered the little white boxes (motors I think) from China. Would you please share with me the company you ordered from? I think the broken locks are messing with my computers. When I drive it opens and closes continuously and then switches on the hazard lights. I am an older lady so please excuse my way of explaining. I love my disco and will never sell it. So I am for ever having small things fixed by my Landy specialist. My son has done all the services needed and is absolutely great so I believe the disco will outlive me. I enjoy your posts please don’t ever stop. Have a wonderful day. Regards. Marianne
It is very difficult to replace the motors. Better replace the locks with Amazon parts. 40 Euro each in Germany. Don’t have the workshop do this. Ask your son to do it. Sometimes the module only needs lube and cleaning. No chance that your Discovery will outlive you - my lady. Christian
You two are bloody amazing!!.. 8 have been a mechanic for 30 years but you make it feel like I just learn😊...
How do I become a patriot?
😅👍In our "About" Page on UA-cam is the link. I can't share it here unfortunately. 🙋♀️
Needle nose pliers to install those piston circlips, much easier!
I bet Christian's Excel spreadsheet took more time to build than the actual engine! 😂
It's Sunday ... time to be serious 😁 Much easier install than my usual Piston Ring compressor .. could have done something similar for the wristpin retainers
Amazing - thanks guys for another awesome video
Top work
Like the piston inserting tool I’ve been meaning to make one for the Cummins 6bt, think I will now
with your machinery you could make a 3 legged pliers with the middle leg not moving and being flat at the end then the two side legs being able to move also flat at the end you could put them clips in easy i so much enjoy your videos Vera thanks for the video
Good job 👍
Don't worry Mate, I'm watching you!
you guys are so smart
Great video👍
Great work guys.
great videos guys keep it up!!
I think you take more care than Land Rover.
Wow, all the engineering stuff is fascinating, but it makes me dizzy! 🥴 lol 🤪
Great video as always
Your guys are perfectnesses!!!
You guys are awesome 👍
Loved that thanks guys.
Excellent video you two, what a team! Clamp drive jubilee clip as opposed to the worm drive (normal) ones for the gudgeon pin circlip - armchair mechanic!
Loving it..
Another great video, thanks !
Excelent contente as always...😊😊👌👌👌👌🤙🤙🤙🤙
Beyond perfection .
The best car chase in any movie. Ronin 👍🚙🚙🚙
Amazing 🤩
By the second clip, I thought for sure you would have made a tool to install the clips!
Спасибо за видое)!!!!
I know "Piston Protrusion" as Deck Height
I just watched you make a piston ring compressor and very impressive it was, so it got me thinking ,couldn't you have make a smaller version for fitting those snaprings that hold the gudgeon pin in ?? Larger at it top and tapers down to the correct size ???
I would definitely have a V8 A8, in British Racing Green. They must be cheap as chips now, a 1998. What a project car, it would go well with your Walter White alter ego.
Amazing.....
I have a 2007 Sport TDV6 which has just clocked 280,000km. Has had only basic work done eg timing chains, oil cooler and pump, oh yes a new alternator too. Runs sweetly. Current fuel useage is 8.8 litres per 100km. Cheers for a great channel from down here in Australia….
I love guys truly incredible pair😂 and you are truly informative to boot 🥾 thanks for all the tips
Grazie.
Thank you 🙏😊🙋♀️
Absolutely Brilliant,as always. Please keep up the excellent content. What idiot would buy a Toyota anyway??
I don't have a D3/D4. I think they're financial ruination. I've nailed more bits back onto D1s and D2s than I can remember to keep them on the road. I think LR make terrible cars.
So, yes, I've subscribed!
Should have transplanted a 3.6 V8 diesel in there !
👍
Hi Christian and Vera I love you're videos!
Very funny when you were talking about what different brands the good guys use opposed to the villan. I used to use a Toyota rav 4 diesel to shoot my videos but it overheated and the head gasket is gone as it 17 years old it's been parked hope to pull the head of and see the extent of the damage.
To be able to continue to make my videos and travel to work I bought a Hilux so now I'm being associated with terrorists!! I like to think of myself as a tourist! You know I need a vehicle that can survive going off a cliff and being washed in by the tide only to open the door let the water drain out get in turn the key and drive off making more videos!! Haha well that's what the adds say.
Well, I guess the terrorists know what’s reliable. 😂 Would be kind of bad for them if the vehicle stalls in the wrong moment 😂. Hilux is sold in Germany too! Christian
Great video guys 👍 I thought you might of used Victor Rienz gaskets instead of elring 🤔
Elring is always our choice for seals and gaskets if we can't get them OEM from Land Rover. 👍🙋♀️
Great video as always! Any plans on doing a 5.0L engine rebuild, or doing any content with that engine? Thanks for the content folks :)
If we ever find one in Germany. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian I had no idea they weren't common in Germany! Very popular here in USA. Cheers
Bei den Yamaha Motorradmotoren haben wir die Clipse der Kolbenbolzen immer mit der Spitzzange eingesetzt. Dann fliegen diese nicht weg! 😁
Why didn’t you make a tool for the inserting those spring clips?
Would you like to do mine next ? Brill watching you pair do your LR s
The Audi S8 in the movie Ronin had nitro injection system. Christian only needs to ask Vincent 🇫🇷 and he will get it all for him. Vera, What colour was the boat house at Hereford ?
Is that something in Ronin, I mean the boat house? I actually never watched that movie. 😅🤫🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Sorry Vera my comments were Ronin movie references.
But thanks for the reply it is lovely to interact with you guys. I know your super busy and this week is a hot weather week so keep cool guys. A video on a garage cooler made from a 2.7td engine fan/cooler radiator with a water pump from a Toyota!! Ha ha.
Love the video as always!
Just a quck question, the Disco3 was made with a euro3 and euro4 engine. Since vera's in a 2005, she will have the euro3 I assume. However, I wondered if you guys could ever do a video comparing the 2 engines?
I can't wait to see the test of this vehicle in Africa! When are you guys planing to do the big adventure ?
A small adventure will be this year. Christian
