@@spicywater1494 I did not even mention DLSS. What you mean is DLSS upscaling, which lowers VRAM usage since it upscales from a lower resolution. What i said is FrameGen, which requires memory for the interpolated frames obviously. FrameGen has nothing to do with DLSS altough they are often used in combination to get high FPS like you need for pathtracing.
My GTX 1070 TI finally died after a decade and I've been debating as to what GPU I'm going to get. Its either between the 4070 super or do I just splurge and get the 4070 super TI. I was also recommended the 7800/7900XT but I have no clue. Also forgot to mention that I will be playing 1440p and not 4k.

@@PuffinTechYT I'm in pretty much the same position but I'm flipping between a 4070 Super and a 7800XT. The 4070 Super will cost about £599, whereas I can pick up a Sapphire 7800xt PULSE for £479, a £120 saving. I like NVidia and I know they are in front on the Ray Tracing and the rest, but part of me feels the 4070 Super just isn't good enough at Ray Tracing at even a decent level to consider it. My thinking is that if you want Ray Tracing then you have to pay and if you aren't slapping down £1k for a video card at the bare minimum then don't bother, or at the very least don't make that main reason for buying a card. The 7800xt has 16gb of RAM, so if games get a bit more resource-hungry I will still be in a good position. The 7800xt should be good for many years to come, and by the time I'm looking at an upgrade the Ray Tracing technology will be better with the hardware more easily affordable by us mid to lower-range gamers.

Turn off dlss you will see -%80 less fps..which is interesting because 4000 series performs same as 3000 series without dlss..except 4090..but all other 4000 series are scam i think..overpriced..

Imho benchmarking it above it's intended resolution is useful to predict how the card will age. It's a new released gpu ofc it should crush released titles, i'd be surprised if it doesn't.

Even at 1440P 12GB VRAM doesn't cut it anymore for RT and FrameGen, both features increase the VRAM usage.
