I used the OG vanford 5k on southern bluefin and red snapper here in Australia 🇦🇺 absolutely no issues. I believe commentary about flex is driven by misinformation and intentional brand strategies. Not that ive actually experienced it in the 21 model, but a bit of flex in my opinion is a lot better than broken componentry, handles or drag systems... ahem ... I say no more. New 24 vanford feels great in hand, only have the 2.5k model so far but so far so good
I use the Vanford C5000 in the surf and inshore. It has landed plenty of Striped Bass, Red Drum, Flounder and Trout with no issues and no flex. Like Adam said, if you’re getting flex, you should look at the Stradic or even the Sustain.
Yeah , as a gear head the Vanford didn't have flex issues to me. But it did feel cheap as hell vs the older ci4+ a and ci4+ b. Just got this new one Sunday and it feels more durable and rugged then the 2020 Vanford. But still have to get on the water with it but I don't think this will have that feeling like the old one did. ( Thank God )
I kept seeing ads of stores selling the old Vanford for a discounted price, in my head I was like yeah they gotta be dropping a new reel. Boom I come along and see your vid!
Just got my new vandord Sunday hoping to get out with it this weekend. Feels so much better then the Vanford 2020. The 2020 felt so damn cheap. The easiest thing to remember with shimano is Ci4+ reels like the vanford , twin power xd vanquish they are a finesse reel / open water reel. Not any type of heavy drag setting situations type of reel. Core solid reels like the stradic , sustain, twin power fe , stella are a great all around reels. You can do everything with those. Also to correct one thing duracross is a mix of carbonfiber and felt. They did this to get the smoothness of the felt but the durability of Carbonfiber. Its the best of both worlds. Just to anyone reading comments they have 500 , 2000 , 2500 , 3000 4000 and 5000 sizes. They got rid of the 1000. The 2000 is the same size as a 1000 but the spool holds more line.
@@rendynyo205 2500 ,c3000 are same size reel but the 3000 holds more line and has a t handle knob vs the 2500 which has the tear drop knob. Both hold plenty of line especially braid. I only stick up to 150 yards on my reels. You dont need any more then that
@@watchman316ly yeah I bought 2 2500s and 3000s sold them less then 6 months after. I do still have the 500 and both 2000s. Those ones feel okay and fantastic. But that's because they're so small and compact
New 2024 Vanford just arrived from Japan! C3000XG. Smoother and quieter than the 2020 version. In fact, I wasn’t impressed with the 2020 at all. This reel has zero black coloring. It’s all dark gray (gunmetal color) now. Spool, rotor, and body all gray with very little red accents. Very slick and super excited to have one in the US
For longevity for ultralight fishing do you recommend stradic fm 2000s or this new vanford in the same size? I am fishing 2-3 times a week... so i put alot of work on it, i usually go for perch fishing, so what do you think? Wich one?
Like mid range shimano reels. Somewhat prevents water from gettin in shaft to the gears and drag. Roller bearing isnt and will mostly fail first if not regulary maintained..Can take some splash but if you dunked, it needs to be fully maintaned.
can the vanford match my m,egabass windbuster p5 destroyer rod? or is the new stradic a better choice thinking of balance in the rod.. the rod was very good balanced withy my last reel a twinbpower fd 2500 ... fishing 90% perch (sweden) most of the times with neds/jigs but even some bladebaits and 7-9 cm twitch baits... do the new vanford flex in the reel foot? does it have less play in the handle in to body? than the old one.. totally hater the old vanford for all play in the handle and bearings run out fast
I’m not familiar with that rod, but the Stradic would be more similar in weight to your twin power. For perch fishing, you should have no flex issues. This one is also much tighter than the previous one too
U have a good reel but a shitty rod. not a good compatible. get at least a hundred dollar rod. $150 minimum or you can get st croix rod and thats the best combination.
@jeffnaval4894 Ugly Stik is not a shitty rod in any way. It will outlast rods that cost twice as much. I have the Elite, and I'm surgical with it. It's all preference.
@@billydee1879 I agree it's tough but it's not good for finese technique or when your fishing skill goes up. I would say it's like a go to rod if you are starting out.

I have owned this reel for about two weeks and I really like the improvements. That said I don’t believe I would have noticed the difference, from a performance perspective, if I did not already own the previous model Vanford and also a Stella. Congrats on a very thorough and technical video. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣
@@jessicaho19 the 2024 model van Ford is noticeably smoother than the 2020 model. Even the way the line is cast and retrieved back onto the spool it’s such an improvement that it has increased my casting distance by nearly 30 feet. 👏🏿👏🏿🎣

Most likely a perfect freshwater bass reel or larger freshwater species
