I don't think there's another DJ who could do a thee-hour set that I could listen to again and again, and never once feel like there was a a compromise.

This Guy :) brings back the faith in today's DJ scene full of flashy personas playing the same unimaginative stuff. He seems to be a peaceful, modest man being there for the music. And what an incredible set that is!

I see that many seem to be concerned with the minimalist equipment Guy J is using. This is a Xone 2 from Allen & Heath and he has mapped it to Traktor. Here is the thing: none of the DJs who have chosen Traktor and Xone 2 or Ableton and similar MIDIs in the past couple of years are incapable of spinning vinyl or playing on CDJs - most of them have begun DJ-ing in the 90s. It's just the ease of travelling and organizing tracks in these settings and the fact that Traktor's (and to some level Ableton's) quality for artistic maneouvering and modifying tracks is incomparable to CDJs or Vinyl. And each form of mixing has its own place and value. I do not see vinyl going anywhere just by the mere fact that DJs now have the choice to perform differently from one set to another.

Well said. Nowadays I prefer DJing with traktor/ableton and other midi controllers. There is more things to do with this equipment I mentioned. I'm not saying that I don't like CDJS anymore but it's an opinion.

This is one of the complex mixed set I ever heard, (eg. First 18 min) What a beauty of transitions.
I have returned to this so many times. He was booked to come to Melbourne, Australia in November 2020. Curse Covid...

Takes me back to the warehouse parties in Melbourne, Oz from 20+ years ago.
3 years ago I put on this set on my headphones and decided to off myself. Luckily it didn't happen, and until this day when I listen to it again it makes me want to live and experience life forever. Guy J will forever be a beast and an inspiration for myself.

Why commenting the set up or any shit else, when you can just listen and appreciate...cause really, that's just about it. Spinning, CDJs, Traktor, whatever, many DJs are more producers than DJs, and many good DJs are not producing....Guy J is more of a producer, but he can be DJing aswell, people need to get over set ups, and just feel the music, cause overall, this is the most important thing, and that's how the flow goes...cheers

I agree! This is very typical for dabblers. They think music comes from equipment, and doesn't matter who controls equipment :)
He's mixing his sets using Ableton Live, effectively disecting each tune and adding them to the set piece by piece rewriting the tune each time he plays it, coupled with all the effects and the huge build ups he throws in to keep you electrified and climbing the ceiling with anticipation, plus I'm sure he invents tunes as he's going in his live sets, using sounds from lots of his older tunes and splicing them together with new melodies he hasn't played before, that never get released or played more than a few times. so say what you like about him but he's the real deal. 90% of the dj's and producers out there couldn't lace his cloggs.
I love how the sounds of the 90s trance and house has come back into the techno scene. ❤️
