On S-n-P, "Shoop", "None of Your Business", and "Let's Talk about Sex" are biggies for them. Those are ones that make you want to move but also have messages instead of purely a party/dance song. This was a serious groove song that we danced the hell out of to "back in the day" lol! That synthesizer is recognizable anywhere.... And it was nice to have empowered females out there rapping. Don't know if you know who Skrillex is, but in case you do he mixed this with his song Devil's Den at an NYC concert and it was a jaw-dropper to hear. On general requesting I'd appreciate if you'd sometime look at Dorian Electra... there newest is "Gentleman/M'Lady" (that has some fun at gaming culture), others to consider would be "Flamboyant" or "Sorry Bro". If not familiar with Skrillex and curious, I'd suggest the video "Equinox (First of the Year)" or "Bangarang". His music is dubstep. Nine Inch Nails is an industrial rock group... Almost everyone will point you to "Closer" by them but while it's a great song it's not reflective of NIN for the most part... I'd suggest "Wish" or "March of the Pigs" for early years. I got tons more and already said too many.... I'm bingeing through your videos and it's after 2am here (American in Bangkok) so my mind is going lol. Hope you're having a good daytime or whenever you see this.
Old school hip hop legends. Yep, late 80s and 90s. These ladies could really rap. Check out Shoop and what a Man. You'll find your "bars." Also, since you are opening up you horizons, please check out Ordinary World by Duran Duran.
This is wonderful, I'm actually that old that I was out dancing to this. I was a metal girl ,kind of, but back in the days you really appreciated anything with a good beat. It being in minor all the way spoke to my goth heart. Watching it now was nostalgia af, but it really was just beats, lol. But back then I thought them to be so friggin it.
This song was from 1987 and was so ridiculously ahead of its time they should surely be given the Nobel prize or something 😆 Thank you for reminding us about it!
My DJ played this hit at my Wedding Reception 1986! It was a jam! All the guest got up and hit the floor! My generation was the beginning of hip hop.... I was 20 yrs old
I am giving everyone out there a warning...I Love this tune, when I went to Navy bootcamp towards the end we got to go to a lil club, have a few drinks, danced my ass off to this, or best I could! The warning part is, it feels like a few months or maybe a year or two ago...was 1988! It comes fast my friends, make good choices, make the most of every day...I still love this tune, I cannot be still when I hear it~
Believe it or not when I was an active paramedic I said the same thing once with a patient! She almost laughed the baby out in the back of the ambulance!
I saw them perform last year on the Mix Tape tour with NKOTB, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany and Naughty by Nature and they still look great! Spinderella wasn't with them but they can still put on a good show.
Salt-n-Peppa. They are a hip hop trio. It is comprised of Salt, Peppa, and Spinderella (DJ). Push it dropped in 1987, which hit #1. It was top 10 in many countries. They are from Queens, NYC. They sing, pop, hop, and dance music. Other songs are: Shoop, Let's talk about sex, and Whatta Man.
Salt N Pepa started in the 80's and had hits in the 90's too. Good Songs by them Tramp, I'll Take Your Man, My Mic Sounds, Let's Talk About Sex, Shoop, Whatta Man (featuring En Vogue).
the single "Push it" came out in 87 and was part of their first Album "Hot, Cool and Vicious" which came out round about Christmas 86. I even saw them live in concert at 87
They do have bars... you'll just have to listen to one of the tracks that i see being recommended in the other comments. 'Shoop' and their verses in Envouge's 'What a Man' come to mind.
It should have not been shocking but it was: When the Salt--N--Peppa first burst on the scene, some people were surprised that a female could rap so hard and dance at the same time
Their hair and the closed, especially the shoulder bad, scream that 80s. Plus the gentleman with the hairstyle that Chris rock war in new jack city Is also from the 80s if I'm not mistaken. Shoop makes me "feel some kind of way." Peppa fine, Salt fine, and though we don't see her as often, I wouldn't mind looking at Spinderella for a while. This album, Beastie Boys' License to Ill and 2 Live Crew's Nasty were my first rap cassette tapes growing up.
Again. Late 80’s. So surprised you have never heard of them or the song. Been played soooo many times over the years. Glad you’re experiencing this music now
This was all over MTV in the late 80's when I was a teenager. And i HATED it! It was repeated every 5 minutes, it seemed, while I was waiting for the tunes I wanted to hear. Which were aired once every fortnight. Wait a few decades, and now i fucking LOVE it! So much kick-ass in one performance. Salt 'n' Pepa were the freshest, rawest, raunchiest hip hoppers of that era. And it shows.

The album this song is on came out in late 1986! I was in 9th grade! Their dj’s name is Spinderella! The entire album is a favorite of mine! Their song “The Showstopper” on this album is an answer song to “The Show” by Doug E. Fresh! Other favorites of mine by S-n-P are: I Like It Like That, Shake Your Thang, Do You Want Me, Let’s Talk About Sex, Whatta Man, None of Your Business, Shoop, and many many more! They have so many wonderful songs!
I think of them as a one hit wonder because it's the only song of theirs I know. Change that after reading pther comments I didn't know they did Shoop.
Believe it or not this song is from the 80s I was a teenager when this came out and I'm 50 years old me and my girlfriend would walk up and down the street in our neighborhood yelling this song from the top of our lungs love love love love this song

Late 80's. For context, rap was gaining traction but not quite mainstream like it became in the 90's and beyond. There were still lines not crossed, lyrically; certain subjects only alluded to but not outright stated. And, women representing were damned scarce at the time. Late 80s, brought in the style of the 90s.
Yup, the birth of rap was actually the late 80's and really took off in the 90's.
Late 80's rap.
When you’re from the 80s and tell your sister while she’s having her baby to “push it real good!”.😂😂😂
Believe it or not when I was an active paramedic I said the same thing once with a patient! She almost laughed the baby out in the back of the ambulance!
