      Pat the NES Punk only real gripe I have is why they made the controller wire 1 metre in today's era of televisions where your playing on a giant HD flat screen compared to the original having a 2 metre wire when we were playing on tiny TVs

      I have to say isn't it ironic with Nintendo's stance on ROMS yet they have two open-source consoles that people are obviously piling TONS of roms on both these systems, & the irony of Golf being on the Switch with an emulator...I think it's time for Nintendo of America/Japan to finally get off their hypocritical soapbox.

      Pat the NES Punk I highly enjoyed this segment as a newcomer to your channel, I feel the same way about adding roms on SNES vs NES, but hey this thing can be your NES classic as well lol. Just need one of the NES controllers to plug into it. Too bad they're 5x the cost now.

    I happened to be off from work that day & even though I knew people that camped out overnight, I walked up 5 minutes before my local retailer opened and got a ticket for the second to last one they had on hand. The only reason I had to wait half an hour to check out was that there were 64 people ahead of me getting theirs.

    People are talking about walking in and conveniently buying an snes on launch day, but I was in line at GameStop before opeing, and I still didn't get one. I was eleventh in line, and they only had 10. Ever since then they've been constantly sold out and I've missed my only chance. Should've went to Target and not ShitStop.

I asked the people to save my spot since I brought donuts for all of us... • @skins4thewin
    @skins4thewin 4 роки тому +2

    But yeah, the SNES Classic is actually a fantastic system to hack, and is actually a really great value for that purpose. It's VERY similar to a Raspberry Pi hardware wise, and when hacked it basically functions like one. This one comes with your ports, your HDMI output, etc. You can use an adapter to hook a USB stick to it for added storage and can load up RetroArch cores on it to basically play whatever the heck you want, all the same shit that you'd play on a Raspberry Pi. Only this one is an Official Nintendo product with a really cool high quality case and controllers for only $80.
    Definitely worth it & DEFINITELY worth hacking! The ONLY thing I wish is that it allowed you to just automatically load up whatever ROMS you stick on to a USB stick without having to preconfigure everything first.

    I went into my gamestop today and was looking around and a lady walked up to the counter. She said "super nintendo" and I thought she was crazy for thinking our gamestop had em. Then the cashier asked if she wanted a warranty, so I turned around and saw they had 3 classics behind the counter, so I freaked out and ran over and grabbed one. It was a great day

    spoke to the manager at my local target in nj near the nyc area. He said his store as well as others in the area are getting a restock on them on oct 20th. same deal line up before open and they will hand out tickets. I expect them to get a decent sized shipment. Not sure if the date is for all targets or just the ones in my area. I got one on launch day, but i will try for a 2nd one to get as a gift for my brother. I hope it will be just as easy as last time with plenty to go around. I refuse to pay a scalper. Funny thing is ive noticed even the super famicom mini's have dropped a lot in price on ebay as the international scalpers try to undercut each other for fear of losing money or just breaking even. I think once the next 2 restocks happen worldwide a lot more will be floating around and the scalpers already sitting on product will feel the need to make sales before they lose big time and we should see the prices continue to drop on the resellers markets.

  • @AlpakaWhacker
    @AlpakaWhacker 6 років тому +8

    10:15 The ebay and paypal fees aren't a percentage of the profit, it's off of the total sale price so if someone sells the SNES for $140 then the fees they pay are $21 (not $6). If you offer "free" shipping then that'll like you said, cost you $10 so in actual fact... you'd be making even less if you tried to re-sell it at $140. You'd only make approx. $12 per unit.

    • @AlpakaWhacker
      @AlpakaWhacker 6 років тому

      I was basing the $21 on the percentages that Pat said, 10% ebay and 5% paypal. Based on your percentages of 10% and 3.5% then the fees would be nearly $19 (not the $21 that I originally said) and if postage is included, that's another $10 based on what Pat said. So this gives you total fees+postage of $29, giving you a total profit of $21.

    The store I work for (Meijer) in Alpena, MI (rural area) had 3 NES classics on launch and I think we saw a total of maybe 8 in the whole release. SNES classic, which I persuaded them to allow me to do a midnight release for, and we had 15. So yeah much better supply by Nintendo. Nintendo should open an online store where we can legally buy roms and emulator for all of their older console.
    Personally i'm not interested in physical copy/hardware. It's getting very expensive (and will only get worst) and this stuff is getting old (way too old), when you buy old cartridges (and console) you will have to clean the pins and contacts at some point/or replace battery and shit like that. I'm not interested in doing that... also, it can take a lot of place. Where as a digital copy can be used on any computer and you will never lose it, you will always be able to download it from the store after you buy it.

    Ian doesn't understand that Ebay has fees too. Scalpers were only making like $20 bucks per system.

    At first I was semi-against hacking the SNES Classic because really what's the point, why not just get a Pi at that point...but unlike the Pi input latency is a lot less of a problem. This is probably the only emulator-in-a-box i've tried that doesn't play some of the more timing sensitive games or even just Super Mario World like pure shit. The physical quality of the controllers and casing itself is extremely nice and hacking it doesn't mess with the frontend besides adding folders and that's optional. There are people that are just using RetroArch on it though and to me that's asinine as you introduce a ton of input latency right back into it.

    I was able to walk right into a GameStop and get one no problem. It's going way better than the NES classic went

    It seems like all the cultured folk who originally got the sophisticated and beautiful Famicom design call it the SNES. Whereas the countries who received the grey breeze block have to shout out ESSS ENNN EEEE ESSS like the special kid from the back of the class.

      Most kids just called it the Super Nintendo. I don't know how you English decided to SNES as a word when it clearly sounds awful when spoken.

    I went during my lunch hour that day to check if my Target had one... In hindsight not a great plan. I should have expected them to sellout right when the store opened considering this is a Nintendo product.

    all perspective. obviously youtubers had no problem, but east coast/jersey had 20 in stock with 60 in line (Walmart, target, etc). Still 0 instock, gamestop sold online for 2 min yesterday. Nintendo at least made youtubers happy to avoid the backlash

    I can understand Nintendo not caring about hacking the Classic Editions because they have all their games built in. Can't buy any other games for it so not losing out on money to pirates. Just giving the hobbyists something extra to keep it alive longer.

    Must of been enough. The scalpers in my area are 1/4th of what they were with the be classic. Plus the prices they are asking is like 120 and 150. Seen a 300 dollar one. Nothing crazy like the nes classic

    i think that nintendo should have made a virtual console for the snes, that you connect to your computer and buy the games that you like that the console is missing (super bomberman, earthworm jim, pilotwings, turtles in time, dk 2, harvest moon, zombies ate my naghibors, chrono trigger and more)

    Interesting that 27 months later the Super Nintendo Classic edition is ~$120 to $140 on eBay while the NES Classic is ~$80. I think Nintendo will rerelease the Super Nintendo Classic in 2020 because it will get a lot of sales and is the complete opposite of the new PS5 and Xbox One.
