If you want to make a game using the tileset I made for Goodgis, you can absolutely do so! You can download it from the Axolotl Island itch page: mashupgames.itch.io/axolotl-island
THIS GAME IS SOOOOO AMAZING! I cant get over the idea you used with the islands that sort of (earthquake) skake effected them selves from the ground! great job....your games are amazing
IDEA MAKE A Mentor/apprentice game jam where the participants choose to be either an apprentice/mentor and, depending on the participants of each group, the apprentices will have mentors and make a similar game. This way, the mentor can teach quicker and apprentice can incorporate advice faster, then, they will work together on a game for round two, and in round three, the mentor will give advice as the apprentice works on the game by themself, this way, it has a great comparison between the apprentice starting and ending, hopefully inspiring them to develop in more jams!!
This honestly feels like it could be a full game. Perhaps adding multiple modes like story, survival, and/or time challenge. Steam and Nintendo Switch releases, perhaps. Awesome job, man!
Wow, your 2.5d toolkit and style is really coming together and getting more impressive every new game. Really impressive and inspiring what you manage to do with it.👌
Woah! Just found you! This was super cool and I think one of the coolest parts was the environment, with pixel art textures cleanly on the 3d assets and the nice thick border. Think you could explain more in depth on how you achieved that with the material-on-prefab way? I’ve only used sprite renderers for my 2.5D environments but this seems better and I’m not sure what’s the best way to go about it
Amazing job man, I just found you channel a time ago and watched all the videos, you are a amazing content creator but even better game creator, your videos have been a great fuel to the development of my game, keep up with te content, you deserve the world!
Actually Square Enix has named the Octopath Traveller artstyle as “HD-2D” They’re also in the middle of making another game called project triangle strategy in the same artstyle.
instead of making a lot of individual cubes, have you considered making procedural mesh? :V haha jk, that would be too much for a fixed map like that but since you said you are using shader graph, one cool thing you can do is a custom shader where it breaks the UV in cells, kinda like a triplanar UV, but with a more blocky pattern, just divide the world(or object) position with the cells size and get the remainder(%) and divide it by cell size, this way the texture will repeat even if the mesh is very long, i have done test for some tiling test, but i think it would work very well with this game
You know what, subscribed to you, as your description of your person is similar to mine.. not like I am actually doing much gamedev as I want, but yeah
okay actually you explained it very well and with JetBrains dotPeek i could see into your SpriteCube.cs :-) i am not 100% sure but theoretically you could work with less materials using this technique ua-cam.com/video/Y-fDGOqHQZA/v-deo.html ... you can work then with cubes again. i will try both solutions out =)
@@MashUpGames Well From the front they do but during the game, the pixels on the edge of the player dont look like there little feeler things. but the game is great!

I got so excited when I saw this video after watching Goodgis' video on this a few days ago.
AMAZING GAME! You used Goodgis' art so well, great job!
He really did!
The wild west scene had me rolling lmao
Anyway amazing job dude love the style of the game! And those sword/shield animations are so smooth! O.O
I love the style.
Also, I was thinking about ways to do simple levels and you both gave me great ideas.
Both of your games looked so amazing. Loved the aesthetic, amazing work on the game and the new editing techniques 😉
Those "new editing techniques" took a few evenings to make haha
This game looks great for only 24 hours. Would love to see a more fleshed out version.
I wasn't paying too much attention to the time so take that "24 hours" with a pinch of salt aha
THIS GAME IS SOOOOO AMAZING! I cant get over the idea you used with the islands that sort of (earthquake) skake effected them selves from the ground! great job....your games are amazing
I am very proud of that island effect haha
Wow that game you made looks amazing, I’d love to see you keep working on it

Wuuuuut. A collab that I never thought would've ever existed. I love both of your channels!
Congrats on 10K! This looked like a really cool idea, I love what you did with the art!
Thank you!

Tbh,you could actually make this game marketable with more lvls...etc
Ya know I think Mash ups game could be turned into a big game and released into the public.
Actually Square Enix has named the Octopath Traveller artstyle as “HD-2D”
They’re also in the middle of making another game called project triangle strategy in the same artstyle.
Tbh I wouldn't have known this if you hadn't pointed it out, thanks!
@@MashUpGames No problem dude. I’m a massive fan of Octopath Traveler so I’ve learned many random facts about the games.
Would love to see a tutorial on the Sprite Diorama style!
Again huge congrats on the 10k subscribers! And great job on the game. Really cool😁
Congratulations on 10k subs!
Neat game! I love the island appearing animation

reminds me a lot of HOB, it's a compliment as it's one of my favourite game
That was actually amazing. But I still can't get over the fact that you only have 10k subs... You deserve so much more man, keep it up!
Thank you! :)
Very cool concept... Congrats on 10k!
Thank you!
> cute axlotl game
Why did you say the same thing twice?
Not sure, must've not been thinking when I wrote it
I watched the vid from goodgis, and then I just waited for you to make yours

Could you make a tutorial about fight system, that you used here? I mean that you have sword and shield in hands and you can use them
Strong paper Mario vibes!
I mean to be fair hat is a lot of balls...
They made a game about me, (cutest) crap i've ever seen
the music note is flipped im crying
My bad, it was reverse-the-music-notes week when I was developing this

yesssssssssss
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Yay
I approve of the axolotls
Wow cool game your good
Cool stuff.
funny you both decided to make a 3d game after you asked eachother for tilesets intended for 2d
I don't know why we both went that route haha
Could you make a tutorial how to make this kind of 2.5d system where you use sprites but looks 3D? Or link to a tutorial? 🤕
okay actually you explained it very well and with JetBrains dotPeek i could see into your SpriteCube.cs :-) i am not 100% sure but theoretically you could work with less materials using this technique ua-cam.com/video/Y-fDGOqHQZA/v-deo.html ... you can work then with cubes again. i will try both solutions out =)
I actually did try it this way at some point haha, think I didn't go this way in the end due to wanting to use quads instead idk
I’m gonna speedrun this
That's a lot of balllls
That's a Lotta Balls
"to show you how much this is here is 2000 balls.........that's a lotta balls"
I love this man
10000*
rendering 2,000 balls on screen rather than 10,000 would've been a lot nicer on my pc haha
@@MashUpGames OH HECK I MISTYPED THE NUMBER
*I hate myself now xD*
yees finally ! :D
Dang palontras lookin a bit different u good?
cool
Make this a full game
I see axolotl, i click.
did someone say.. axolot?
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE!!!!
does anyone else not get how the character sprites look like axolotls?
Very nice :D
Axolotls are cute
You should have used sprytile in blender
Instead of individual cubes
Would have been faster and easier to make the level
Wow. Thats so amazing. Any plan on making a tutorial on how to do this?
I might do if it becomes a recurring thing in my games
Neato
*WHAT IS 2.5D! THATS ILLEGAL!*
2.5D? Never heard of it.
Here from Badgis
I see a full inde game

get yourself a cookie sir 😎👊
Nice vid! Please can we get some source code.
How is that an axolotl? maybe I'm blind but that just looks like a bald guy.
It's whatever you want it to be. :D
If u think axolotl it become it and if u think bald guy it becomes that
because of the corners of the head, both me and my girlfriend thought they were axolotls so we thought might as well lean into that
Fun Fact: You're here for the axolotls
why are you reading this go watch something
2.75 D
You did a better work in my opinion.
It wasn't a competition on who could do better, and Goodgis did a great job!
I was just sharing my opinion and yeah also Goodgis had a great idea.
the axolotl is not a axolotl :v
i dont mean this hatefully but, those dont look like axolotls
Really? They look like axolotls to me, then again it is a small pixel ratio
