This is basically the same concept as the Pentair floating weir and basket which is available at pool supply stores and online. I have that system and can readily say it is durable and functions the same as the one in your video. I adopted mine when I purchased the home and the weir appears to be decades old yet functions perfectly. I did replace the basket after it cracked though.
They don't honor their warranty. The website states free replacement including shipping. The top of mine broke and I contacted them for a replacement part. They sent me an invoice for $15.99 for shipping which is more than the part and shipping cost would be for the part. Its made flimsy and wont last if you grab it by the top of the basket as shown in their videos. Instead of supporting their customers they are ripping them off. Their Customer Service is unpleasent to deal with and makes every excuse possible not so sent replacement parts as warrantied. Please consider this when considering purchasing their over priced skimmer basket.
