Helldivers is at its absolute best when the characters spout the Super Earth propaganda with no self-awareness and fully believe everything they say. I hope Arrowhead Game Studios has their creative team hands-on with this film, and that this franchise is done justice on the big screen.

Id watch a miniseries of HD2 they could make a good story worth a few episodes from the initial invasion and the fall of the creek to a season/series finale that could end with the warp ships showing up out of the meridia black hole

Yeah, that's my fear as well. It becomes The Hunger Games sort of movie all over again, distances itself from the gameplay/main story and just becomes another cut-and-paste resistance tale where bad helmet person turns into resistance hero and learns 'fascism bad'. We know fascism bad. Satirize it.
Starship troopers already exists and it'll be hard to beat that, if not impossible. Knowing how mediocre videogame adaptations tend to be, I don't have much hope

Never heard anybody talk about the sequel, the Lego game was a total flop, the remaster was pointless and mocked, and even opinions on the first game seem to have dipped over the years. Everyone I ever talk to about it has the same response, "Meh. It was alright."
Helldivers 2 already plays like a movie. And since film adaptations of games are nearly always an absolute mess, liberty will cry bitter tears when this film will mame and mangle the source material.
