    guavas are like eating flowers, they are really really tasty. I would also recommend letting them get all the way ripe, it gets real soft and EXTREMELY sweet, they are completely ripe when they literally fall off the tree. I like them a lot that way, they just melt in your mouth

    • @RealLifeFruitopia

      The tree is getting sweeter every year. Thus far I rate the fruit as medium sweet, 5/10 even when falling ripe on the ground. I've tried green guava in Thailand, the sweetness was 9/10!

      Our family has always eaten them very soft as well. While watching you eat this guava? Reminded me of eating an apple or even a pear…. Do you eat these like that perhaps? Maybe the others are eaten soft and mushy…. That may help with my identification process as well…

      I eat the Indian white ones hard like they do in Asia, mixing them into fruit salads.

    Believe this may be the type of guava the growing but sadly I seem to miss eating the fruit as it’s my second home and the critters get them first. Unlike the fruit my mother used to make preserves which were pink inside. If I cut open the unripe fruit, will the color be pink, red or white prior to ripening? I believe that may also be a way to tell which one I’m growing. Thank you so much for the information that you shared. Enjoyed learning the difference. Also noticed your tree bark was peeling…mine does too. Do all Guava trees have this peeling type bark on the branches? That may help with the identification process I’m going through…. Thanks again

      All guava types i have peel, some more than others. The Indian is green, turning white inside before ripening. Thanks for sharing 👍

    My well awaited video. Happy to see them ready to be picked. My one just two years old gave me around 40 fruits. Almost finished. Bought it as named indian white but have much bigger seeds and light pink flesh.

    I grew up in Linden. My Asian dad had a guava tree where I picked Giant pear shaped smooth skin guavas that had a Sweet creamy texture. The taste was like a creamy pineapple. I cannot seem to find that fruit no where else.
    As a kid I took a lot of things for granted. It appears that there are quite a lot of unique fruits that are not common. Google and you tube search brought me here. Hopefully someone has the very guava that I grew up eating.
    Great video here.

    I'd love to drop in for an in person tour one day. We just recently got our own place so I'm currently thinking of what fruit trees to put in the ground. Hard to decide when we only got limited space but I love the idea of tropicals that will survive our crazy Melbourne weather.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia

      I have made many garden tour videos, both in winter and summer. The easiest tropicals for beginners in cooler climates are loquat, guava, white sapote, avocado, passionfruit and banana. Avocado require extra attention when planting.

    If this is the Allahabadi variety, then you surely have gotten the sweetest Guava on the planet for yourself.
    Just chill it in the refrigerator for an hour or two, the sugars would condense and make it even sweeter.
    All the best.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  3 роки тому

      I hope it was true, but the guava you mention is pink flesh, mine is white. I will try to refrigerate it to see if it sweetens further, thanks for sharing!

    • @abc_cba
      @abc_cba 3 роки тому

      @@RealLifeFruitopia Well, Allahabadi is a white pulp variety. It's considered the sweetest of all varieties known to man.
      Refrigerator actually condenses fructose and makes any fruit sweeter. Guava and citrus get the most sweet on refrigeration.

    I think custard apples might be a better example of an overly sweet fruit. I wonder if you left that guava a little longer it would be sweeter. All the guavas I’ve tasted are quite sweet, leave that tree a little longer and it should sweeten. Not sure why Fejoias were included as they are not related to guavas. I have a pink and an Indian in my new house in the subtropics so I am very keen to try them when they fruit. I planted 25 Fejoias to act as an edible hedge.

    • @RealLifeFruitopia
      @RealLifeFruitopia  3 роки тому

      They do get a tinge sweeter if left on to drop stage but some began to ferment by then. The reason I mentioned Feijoa is because some growers in cool temperate zones might not be familiar with or can't grow tropical varieties, so the comparison. I have mature fruiting white and pink varieties, first Mexican Cream tasting coming soon.
