Steve McCurry with the Leica SL3 - People of Burma
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 жов 2024
- In 2023 Steve visited Myanmar (formerly know as Burma) with the Leica SL3 in his hands, to do what he is best known for: Creating photographs that are not just images; but windows into a different culture and individual lives.
Myanmar, especially the city of Mandalay, has left an indelible mark on Steve McCurry's heart. A city where ancient history blends with the vibrant life of the present. Golden pagodas towering into the sky and Buddhist monasteries that radiate an aura of peace and spirituality.

Awesome :)
Leica is been always in my list of all time. One day I will own you ❤
Sir McCurry I highly prefer your film photos more than digital photos.
Film photos are so magical and natural and unique. I never got that nice feeling with digital photos.

What's the story with the handle on the bottom of the camera?
I remember he said it was for stability and he got used to pressing the shutter with his left hand
Steve was injured by a grenade once, so this attachment helps I guess
Sehat-sehat ya Pak e
Leica color is the best.
People may be surprise, big cities in Myanmar are safer than US.

Maybe it’s a preproduction unit from late 2023 but it’s clearly an SL-3. You can see the extra dial on the left side at 0:57
Plus it has the new power button, which is enraging all the Sony trolls, at 2:32.
@@nasaAttackDog Exaclty. It is.
Guy told the same story an iteration before this one. Love the work, not the talk....
Long lens
not an afgan girl?
You can do all of that for a fraction of the cost of Leica. Not trying to be salty here, but Leica is ridiculously outdated, and extremely pricey. It has become more of a status symbol for people who can afford it. Even Steve McCurry did not shoot with Leica when he was trying to make a living. So, please do not portray it any differently now.
Leica is Leica.
Two reasons for not using Leica early in his career. One the Leica’s rangefinder’s were restrictive to eyeglasses wearers. Two because of his hands physical limitations it was easier to use a different camera. As far as today’s cameras there are better speced cameras but it’s hard to beat Leica glass for image rendition. Plus if a brand also sponsors a persons work then that’s another reason to use it.
You can also drive a Toyota and it will get you from a to b, exactly like a Ferrari
@@john-nilsen driving a Ferrari is an experience not easily duplicated by other cars. Definitely not by a Toyota.
@@bngr_bngr I was being sarcastic.
This man has a pistol grip mounted to the camera.
Some people don't like this photographer.
He explores the people of poor countries to take pictures of them and make money. People say it.
I've done that, too.
It's an interesting adventure.
@@87solarsky Allah bless you.

Why?!
Those people need to get their a.. of the couch and they need to try to explore some of those places )))
His magic is long gone since he no longer shoot on Kodachrome 64 on films for National Geographic. Now it's just an old man's hobby.
Nonsense.
I just wasted 5 mins watching this. Not even in my dreams am I traveling the world with a Leica.
great cameras but mostly just badge envy
