    When it comes to the looks, the NSX has (IMO) a timeless design. It was breathtakingly beautiful 20 years ago and it still is today, it's almost as if it is becoming more good looking with age because you get to appreciate it more in today's world filled with cars struggling for an identity because of all the rules and regulations. Really hope I could buy one some day. ^-^

      Roshan Torcy You hit the nail on the head! Japanese design really hit their stride in the early 90's. So many timeless designs including the 3rd gen RX-7, A80 92-02 Supra, Lexus SC 300/400, Mazda Miata etc... I'm probably forgetting a few. Now everyone is obsessed with who can "design" the most obscene, angry grill. Ahem Lexus....

      Roshan Torcy Completely agree. Same goes for the Nissan 300ZX, Toyota Supra, and Nissan Skyline R34. They're such beautiful works of art with no flaws whatsoever. I would like to say the S14 Nissan 240SX (Kouki) has a timeless design too, but the interior does look dated. Nonetheless, a wonderful design. The 90's was without a doubt the pinnacle of cars, in my humble opinion.

      di foo!! Yes, so many cars now are so fussy with their design. I know a lot of it is supposed to be for aerodynamics, downforce etc, but it just comes off as looking fiddly and over complicated or as you say "angry grill" (or just plain ugly grill ahem, Nissan) The simple designs of the 90's seem more timeless.

      Roshan Torcy I agree with you but I don't like the flip up headlights of the earlier NSX's. What the owners of these 2 NSX's have done with updating the headlights makes them perfect. There has only been 1 NSX with the pop up headlights that I thought looked really good.

    12 years later, I STILL regret selling my NSX. Looking at these cars, I realize how timeless this car is. Still looks fantastic. These 2 cars would catch more looks than a brand new GT3.

      Anthony Smith In 1991, the NSX offered extremely high performance. If you are comparing it to cars almost 25 years newer , then of course it will seem lacking, but when originally released, it crushed its competitors from Porsche and Ferrari. The fact that it is still relevant 2 decades later speaks volumes.

      SparklyDoesPCgaming Delayed gratification. Sold the car to buy investments. Later used the investments to buy a different super car. Even though that car has over 293hp more than the NSX, I still miss the NSX, and that is saying quite a bit.

      Anthony Smith Totally serious! Lets think about 1990 for a moment. I am dating myself, but I was just getting out of high school and read every car magazine that was available ( at the public library I might add). You would be comparing your 270 hp NSX to 247 hp 911 C2 or C4. The Ferrari 348 that you would have purchased was twice as expensive as the NSX yet far slower. The C4 ZR-1 had the build quality of a car that was stapled together. I think I sold my NSX with 90K miles and it was as tight as a drum. The 1991 NSX build quality would surpass a 23 year newer Corvette ( I have not yet driven the C7 so I cannot compare) It was also just as easy to maintain as a Honda Accord. It was hand built, a blast to drive and really something special. Got to autotrader and check out a 1990 ZR1 and then check out a 1991 NSX and tell me which one you would rather have today.

      Ian Thompson Yes, exactly. Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. wouldn't be where they are today if the NSX had not come around and showed consumers just how shitty Ferrari products are.

      What the fuck is your problem? If you can read you'd see I agree it's a beautiful modern looking car, and current cars can learn a thing or two from it. However it had the same tech as any 90's car. It wasn't that advanced. It just was executed very well. Why don't you learn to read first...

    Why the hell do people keep saying the NSX's engine is a Honda Accord engine? It's not. The NSX's 3.0 liter was built from the ground up for the NSX. Which means it has a cast iron block, titanium connecting rods, and throttle by wire (yes, even in 1991).
    What's more, Honda Accord V6s were never DOHC, they were always SOHC, and never revved up to 8,200 rpm. Great video nevertheless Matt.

      I hate that too but everyone seems to love to do it. It's really gets ridiculous when you get to the 3.2 that engine really get way sophisticated.

      Thank you I cringed when he said that. The NA2 3.2 is even a more sophisticated engine nothing accord about it, with small bolt on mods it will put out close to 320 hp hit 0-60 in 4.7 pretty quick for a car that's 30 yo.

    It's so nice to finally see guys who can appreciate, and deserve these cars. Own these types of cars.
    So many cocky d-bags in the super/high end sports car market now a days. Cool to see humble nice guys are still around.

    I have never been close to an NSX in my life, but I heard people that used to own an NSX, can't find joy in any other car after that.

    Apparently i'm the only one bugged out that the 1st gen owner got rid of the pop-up headlights... mechanically well sorted, but why put the newer gen headlights at all, when the car always looked better with pop-ups?!

      Hugo Fernandes I think they both did, the other car is from 1998 and the model without the pop-ups first appeared in 2002.

      Hugo Fernandes Aerodynamics. it's like having shoe boxes on your hood at night. Lots of front end lift at speed. Same problem with the C5 Corvettes.

      Yeah, i guessed that, but still, unless you are using them (the NSX's) on a track at night (to which i think highly unlikable, lets be honest) if they stay shut, they are still just as aerodynamic. Although my original statement was more about the looks and originality, even though they are quite modified (mostly the 91). Maybe because its a dream car of mine to own in original spec, that these bugged me out more than usual. Thanks for the reply Matt.

    Matt, if you're on here.. I know you split your time between TST and making films for /Drive. These /Tuned episodes get about the same amount of views as when you used to make pretty films on TST, or even your one-takes. Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't J.F. and /Drive pay you a flat rate for producing a /Drive film? Wouldn't it be better to produce these films for TST and have ad revenue constantly? Not to mention traffic to your website and other paid films like ALGTH. Love your work!

    The owners are so chill. You can tell they know what they want in life and they're living life on their terms. Always nice seeing humble well grounded people. Thanks for letting him review your cars guys, that was very kind of you. Absolutely beauties of cars guys, I can't decide which one I like better. But like he said, the white one seems better for daily driving since it's got the better dampers and it's a little softer and with power steering, and the black one isn't bad either, but it performs much better on a track and power steering issue can be a little annoying in parking lots, but you just gotta man up and appreciate the fact you get to build some muscle in the car without having to go to the gym, lol.

    Honda, I think, made a terrible mistake not simply updating the older car. Porsche has been updating the 911 for decades. Some cars don't need a re-work. What they are calling the NSX now isn't an NSX. That's too bad, really.

      I agree. In designing the new NSX, I think it was a mistake to have a front end or grill section that is similar to other current Acura/Hondas. I feel that it cheapens it in a way. The original NSX looked more like a Ferrari F50 and nothing like any other Honda because it was a halo car. This new one has a Acura TL front end with an Audi R8 body.

      The hybrid powertrain wasn't such a good idea either, really. I think someone in Honda corporate bet on the wrong horse with that one.

      But yes: the 90s NSX was beautiful, elegant but also muscular and powerful in the right ways. The new one, IS NOT an NSX. It's ugly, the usual modern ugly design.

      except you're extremely wrong. NSX stood for "New Sportscar eXperience" which the new one DEFINITELY is. It's also the fastest hybrid you're going to get for less than $160,000.

    NSX is a fantastic car. Another masterpiece from the age of Japanese performance cars that were significantly over-engineered. We will never see the likes of vehicles like these ever again. RIP the 90's.

    Wish the motor was the same as the accord. I'd have that in my TL. The motors are very different. The C series motors are 90 degree V6's where as the J's are 60 degree V6's. The NSX is a DOHC motor too so the J series can't rev as high without valve float.

      RAY NL Lol. Spoken like a true novice. Only morons complain about understeer in a FWD car. Also it's spelt "understeer" not "understear".
      The rest of us know better. You think RWD cars don't understeer? Enjoy what you think you like. Without learning and sampling it all, you're living a very sad life. The rest of us who know how to drive can keep enjoying it. Especially when you bring that up on a post that had nothing to do with drivetrain.

      RAY NL buddy in my parents hybrid i can pull a time about 20-30 secodns less than my bimmer can, difference is the bimmer is on a set of summer tires and the hybrid is on a set of all season. make the tires the same and id only be a few seconds slower in my parents hybrid. i think your just a guy who drives a low grip rwd and thinks hes going hard on his all season when they screech.

      vidurc eh that can be very subjective to the car and whatever road/track your going fast on. for me my car oversteers on small hairpins and double apexes but it understeers when im hitting a right sweeper to a left sweeper or vice versa.

    I think the automotive world reached a pinnacle at the end of the 90s. After there it was all downhill.
    Being honest, I think cars mirror society. Cars up to and especially *of* the 90s were "much prettier". Yes they were simpler too, but not "simple". They were still hugely engineered in an era which nearly had all it wanted *or needed* from technology. Though I grew up in the 70s and 80s and loved the passion, flare and rawness of everything, when the 90s brought increased refinement and precision in EVERYTHING, without losing the raw form (inc cars, songs, films, culture, politics), and what was right, and true, I tipped my hat to it and said
    "We are here at last. We have more than enough. Now we have to develop ourselves more."

    Two amazing examples of one of the best sports cars ever made. Nicely done video Farah. A little different than some of the videos you have posted recently. Really enjoyed watching. I have not driven an NSX in years, but I always thought they were roomier. Farah looks like he is driving a smart car.

    I personally like the 97-01 model being that it has the upgraded engine, 6 gears manual transmission, upgraded perforated seats but still having the flip headlights.

    Nice cars! I've got a '96 NSX-T. I did a Comtech supercharger, air flow system and exhaust. It goes fast enough and looks and sounds great! I was stopped one time by a Sheriff for speeding. He came up to the window and said, ""Nice car! Look, keep the speed down and I'll let you off." I promised I would, and I have kept my promise. :-)

    I think there's something to be said of cars that have the total package. Handling, power, grip, power, steering feel, refinement, looks etc. A very rare quality in vehicles even today. It's a fine and delicate balance and one that the NSX seems to pull off.

    I want one so badly. The NSX is just one of the most beautiful cars ever made and those two examples are really astonishing. I would take the white one and in my opinion it will look even better with the gold wheels from the black.

    Similar scenario with my buddy and I. He's got a highly modified 00 NA Integra type R (yellow) and i have a 00 Silver SiR TurboR swapped. They would call us "Sun and Moon" at the track because we could also exchange cars any time to get a taste of both worlds. Real fun.

    those are cars you keep. And there is something to be said about remaining mostly stock, and trying your best to maintain the original dynamics, especially for a turnkey tuned car or even a showroom performance car like the NSX. Power actually isnt always such a good thing. Indeed there will be a point when you want more BUT power typically pushes a car beyond its balanced tuned point. and as they noted.. parts begin to fail, costs increase and headaches mount, at the end of the day many people will admit despite the lack of speed all the additional mods often removes the 'sweetness' of a performance car. its about livability, and that all depends on the person as well as how much its used.

    Matt's hair perfectly matched these cars: immaculate and the hard driving didn't bother it at all.
    I actually miss the pop up headlights. It is old and outdated and the after market replacements look great, Matt has similar on his Vette, but the flips just say something. They were on the F40 and they will never be put on a production car again so keep it. Or don't, it is your car so enjoy it.

    I always liked a NSX but could not bear myself to own one so I got to own an S15 but when my S15 broke, I drove my friend's NSX and my god it was fun. He had it tricked out to 380BHP and it flies.
    It was a '95 model with a 2004 facelift front (He sold the car after he accidentally smashed the rear towards the wall on Sepang during a Time Attack Run) It has increased displacement to 3.2L, Toda Racing cam, Motec CPU, Spoon pistons,
    HKS GT/SC Universal Supercharger, Eibach shocks with Tein Street Pro coilovers and 4 pot Endless brakes all around with the 6 speed manual. I don't know why but apparently his was an auto when he bought it but he swapped it to a manual. Due to his words, he said that it's because weirdly, Honda built the NSX that comes with Auto gearbox with more torque than the manual so he bought the auto and swapped it with a manual. That car was amazing. I drove it for 1 month and kept racking speeding tickets like never before going beyond 150KM/h just in a blink of an eye and I always wanted to swap cars with him. If I could buy another car, it would be the NSX.

    My mr2 gen2 na has close to 170k miles and it runs like new. These Japanese cars of this time period were just pure amazing. They need to bring something like these back out.

    I'd forge the internals, upgrade fuel delivery, and mildly boost with a good tune. Love these cars, wish I had the money to purchase one. Particularly one of the 90's flavor, but for now my 95' EJ1 will have to do.

    ive had the honor to drive one of these bad boys and it was a 1991 model just like the black one but it was 100% stock other than suspension and exhaust and let me tell you if i had the money i would buy it but the prices are ridiculous. If you have the cash and the patience to look for one in good condition buy it because these will only get harder to find and more expensive. The NSX is truly a timeless piece of art by honda and you will not regret your purchase.

    I typed ctrl+F and found that nobody mentioned McLaren F1. FYI, this car inspired Gordon Murray to design the fastest (super)car of the decade, McLaren F1. Not just externals, but the internals as well. I'm talking about suspension system and lightweight materials. McLaren even asked Honda to make a large-displacement V-engine for the supercar (they were partners in Formula One, when Senna driving it), but Honda refused for principal reason. Anyway, Gordon Murray said that this car, NSX, could handle - or should've had - bigger engine. So I'll say get one, and put any unused racing engine in it!

    I'm so glad that Matt Farah finally did a segment on the NSX, but it was disappointing that when it was his time to pay tribute to a legend as one of the most popular automotive journalists of our time, he seemed so unprepared. To say that the C30/C32 engine is simply an Accord motor fitted to an ideal sports chassis, and never bringing up the depth of Honda's efforts in its development of the vehicle by including Ayrton Senna, is approaching ignorance.

    just built one of these & Tune it In NEED 4 SPEED SHIFT 2... THEY R A BEAST ... I Turbo charged the one in my RACING SIM THOU.. SMOKING ALL THE bigger engine 's SUPER CAR's WITH it. Know my AI in the PS3 is WORKING HARD LMFAO... & The Game Play SETTING IS ON HARD NOT EASY ... cool video.. wish they had a Racing Sim with the REAL CAR I own in real life thou. which is a 1990 SC TBiRD. the one car i found that is Close to the SC TBIRD. Is the NISSAN 200sx/ s14 front end with a 240 SX rear end. they have pretty much the same body style. as THE SUPERCOUPE's .. & handle pretty much the same way. & the tach is pretty much the same amount of RPM that the 3.8 Sc can handle. With is pretty close to 7,000 RPM. if you build the Ford 3.8 Right. that is in THE SC TBIRD.
