“‘Murder8’ is a street name for Fentanyl. I lost my older brother in 2022 to fentanyl and then I lost my younger sister just one year later in 2023 to fentanyl as well. Opioids have been prescribed at alarming rates since the early 2000’s and have affected millions of families across the world, especially the United States. If you have lost someone due to overdose this song goes out to you.” - Chris Whited
Video directed by: Toddi Babu
Featuring: Jame Jasta
Set Graffiti: Deejay Flaherty
Actors: Hannah Shean & Josh Hermann
Feature filmed by: Eric Dicarlo
Song produced by: Will Putney
Recorded, Mixed, and Mastered by: Will Putney
Lyrics written by: Chris Whited
Lyrics:
The illusion of joy
Sold to keep us locked in
Money’s the motive
It’s left us all abandoned
Take the pill you’ll be alright
Take the pill it’ll change your life
Fire fills your veins
A false sense of serenity
Why can’t I breathe
Why can’t I breathe
Powerless slave to the substance
Digging too deep
Bottomless well
An all consuming force
Lifeless
I wish it would’ve been me
I wish it would’ve been me
Relapse
Keep on using
Relapse
Keep on abusing
Murder 8
Murder 8
Another fucking junkie
left for dead in the street
It’s exactly what they want you to be
Accidental suicide
The death toll
Hidden from the headlines
Fire fills your veins
A false sense of serenity
Why can’t I breathe
Why can’t I breathe
A poison burning through your blood
Long lasting but not long enough
A poison burning through your blood
Long lasting but not long enough
Murder 8
Murder 8
Fentanyl made me an only child
What can you do
When there’s nothing left
And the only thing
That’s certain in life is death

8 years sober from fentanyl. If I can, you can. Hatebreed gave me unlimited power during my recovery.
Proud of you man
Hell yeah!
Why’d you do it to begin with?
Not that they're the same, but it's been almost 3 years since my last drink. I know it's a rough, shitty journey. Personally, Randy Blythe from Lamb of God has been (and still is) a huge source of inspiration for me. And just FYI, seeing someone else say, "If I can, you can," really hit home for me. I've been known to say it from time to time.
@@ST31NGaming very good question my friend. I could sit here saying it was my parents and I wasn’t loved enough. Or blame it on some sort of trauma. Or that I got addicted because I was prescribed pain pills and was all of a sudden cut off.
To be honest none of those are true. I had a great home, I don’t believe in trauma, and I wasn’t prescribed anything.
I just fucking love drugs and am really good at taking them. I didn’t have a “rock bottom” moment. I was a highly functioning addict. Sniff 5 pills a day and put in 12 hour days framing houses. All bills paid. (I made a decent salary and money wasn’t a problem). No one knew. Not even my wife. This went on for about 7 years.
But my son changed me. And I didn’t want to hide anymore. That was my only flaw as a father. And it had to change.
"Fentanyl made me an only child!" is probably one of *THE* hardest, yet most sincere and vulnerable, lyrics I've ever heard. Thank you for putting this out, fellas. Thank you.
Lost too many people I cared about to drugs and the violence caused by them
For real
song of the year 🖤
It made me cry when I head that lyric because I’m an identical twin sister and the thought of leaving her because I overdose on fentanyl, scares me. I’ve been putting heroin in my veins for more than a decade and I’m scared that I can’t quit
Will Putney producing Bodysnatcher is a match made in heaven
Jesus i couldnt agree more
I love Will but this still sounds exactly like Chris produced it 🤷🏻♂️
@YaBoyJRock42069 its not a drastic difference but its there. They arent heavily mixed in general, so its nuances that are different, mainly in the drums IMO.
@@johnsolus4567Who mixed dead rabbit? Compared to that song the kick is much less loud, and the drums less in your face, but also more clear, and the guitar is less gritty and harsh. Compared to to bleed-abide this mix is much more... balanced. I fought bleed abide was also a great mix, but a little too "nice" sounding. The only thing I'd change in this song is to make the bass drops louder, at least to the volume of bleed-abide, though my preference would be that it's about 20-30% louder than that, too. I still love putting on reclaimer from shadow of intent cause of the bass drops, honestly.
nah this sounds way different than their last album as far as production is concerned @@YaBoyJRock42069
6 months clean, right now. in rehab many people had died over 5x this year already. Addiction is a serious disease. If you think you need help, you do.
The few at the top use the opioid epidemic as a means to control the population to ready for the changes earth will fade sooner than later….. survival of the fittest is the strategy being pursued
I have been clean for 7 years
THIS YEAR ALONE U KNOW PPL WHO HAVE LEGIT DIED 5x ?!?!?
LIKE THE SAME PERSON?
@@eatassonthefirstdateyes, brought back multiple times. They are very angry when you bring them back just in case you ever had to
Narcan somebody.
Been sober for over 10 years from the hard stuff. 8 from alcohol. This song is hits guys. I needed this, thank you.
We appreciate you letting us shoot Jamey’s part! Video came out sick 🔥
Sending my love to Chris. I still pump King Conquer every day.
King conquer was next level heavy back in the day
that ending breakdown 🤯🤯
Earth shattering shit
Yea shit got real after he said fentanyl made me a only chi-old! 🎶 🎶
That's the hardest breakdown callout i've ever heard
Holy shit
fr
reminds me of the one in Conditional Healing by FFAA. similar subject matter too
@@MoonDevouredwell, Will did produce this song. So I can see why some similarity might be injected there haha.
RIP
i thought it was a bit corny tbh.
That breath before the breakdown was HARD
The line before the last breakdown goes so fucking hard
the Gengar graffiti tag on the wall goes hard
ghost type best type
type of shit i want to get tatted
I was just about to comment about the Gengar! Gengar is the real G.
desolate spotted
Ghost type gang 🤘
Four years sober from dope. Still fighting with alcohol. Good song
Jesus that fucking break down.,. Fuck
@@SamPatten-mm6rbJudging by reading your 2nd comment, I think I saw a cure to the issues in your soul.
Plus, add frequent exercise for your body.
Don’t fight the genetic addiction in you ….use it to start moving yourself in a positive direction.
Same. You got this bro
Goddamn... I just got super emotional when Chris screamed "Fentanyl made me an only child"... Such a great song and great lyrics all around. Love you dudes so much.
I love seeing everyone in these comments expressing their sobriety. Keep pushing everyone!
THESE LYRICS combined with these emotions in the song, man. As someone currently in the thick of it (not on the streets or anything, but still bad) and who's lost people, and knows even more people who've lost a lot more this whole situation is just depressing and pointless. Accidental suicide really is the correct term, 90% of the people I've known had 0 intention to die. Now it isn't even just fentanyl, nor just fentanyl analogues, now it's completely new things like Xylazine (tranq) which can rot your body from within without even injecting... Narcan doesn't work either. The people who hate users always love their moral superiority until suddenly their kid or family member is the one who's dead or in a coma. Then it's a tragedy. To anyone reading this: don't hate others, you haven't walked in their shoes and it doesn't benefit anyone. My sincerest condolences Chris.
You fucking got this homie! Stay strong brother.
Fuck ya you got this man!!! I was a junkie for almost 15 years, I am now clean and have been since I got out of jail in 2017. One day at time a man, no matter how impossible it may seem there is always a way out. Stay strong dude and keep using music to help, for real YOU GOT THIS!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Atta boy. 8 years off fentanyl now. For me it was knowing most people want to see you fail at getting sober. I never give people what they want.
If you ain’t in the streets you ain’t in the thick of nothing
@@krazykuz13cmc that’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.
We making it out of addiction with this one!! 😤😤😤
41 years old and im still here , whish i could say im clean but im holding it together. I need to hear stuff like this especially from my peers especially the comment section soft kill just put out a recovery song as well but thats it .
Life is still livin baby! So are you! 🔥🙏🏽keep it going brother
never give up brother
40 same here bro. and I have a grandkid.
I keep coming back to this song, low-tech and blinding faith....
Bands in this genre are killing it lately. Happy to be along for the ride.
I lost my brother almost 6 months to the day. This song punches a hole in my heart. I'm sorry to hear about your pain Chris :(
RIP
Insane riffs, insane breakdowns. Bodysnatcher never dissapoiment 🔥
That snare tone is godly
Everyone please remember that someone is always hoping you make it home💜 we love you
That breakdown made me think of so many people i wanted to help but was too late. Either literally or just lost in the drugs.
As someone whose gone through the dark abyss of addiction, this song really hits the nail on the head, whether it’s fentanyl, booze, blow, etc. one way or another you’re end result is either jail, institutions or death. And the media don’t address the crisis enough to drive home the fact that it’s a sickness, NOT a choice. My most sincere condolences for your losses Chris, my heart goes out to you and all the poor victims of this disease. Bodysnatcher, never stop making this music and addressing this. Thank you. I’m currently 10 months in my sobriety and this music has helped me like no other
yes!! one day at the time!!
It's gotta be illegal how much this slaps 😤
This is the first song in a long time that has genuinely give me that feeling oh "oh shit" when the final breakdown hit 😢 thankyou bodysnatcher I've been waiting a long time for that

Almost made me cry bro. Best song I've heard in a long time.

This is my first time ever really hearing you guys. I’m also an only child because of fentanyl. Y’all just made a fan for life with this one. Thank you.
That Breakdown at The End! 💯🤯 🔥 🤘🏻
R.I.P John Byrd
song of the year🖤🥇
BTW, the gall and balls it takes to make music about something you're truly passionate about takes BIG ones. Lost so many loved ones to addiction and am recovering myself. Thank you for this. And to Jamey, I love you dude.

This shit goes so hard. I love it and I'm right there with you. Lost way to many to that shit man.
Sending a strong message 💪🏽
song is nuts
This shit made me cry the whole time through. We are truly living in hell. I lost my sister due to a car accident but her life leading up to it was riddled with mental sickness and disorders/addictions. As I sit and breathe in this world in 2024 I FEEL that line, "I wish it would have been ME". There is so so SO much pain and suffering in this world. Be THERE for your loved ones. Be there for EACH OTHER ❤❤❤
AWSOME !!
Yall never miss ❤
Ok, let's go jasta 2024
Body confirmed snatched
ライブ行きたい!
でも死にそうだ❤😂😂😂
WOW!!! that is all
Thank you for your song! Its really good and really true!!

The heavyweight champs fr 🤘🏽
The boys stay slayin
God damn it been a while since I heard a new metal song that rips finally
Jamey Jasta got hair and a beard, looking like a death metal vocalist
The Gengar at 1:28 is hard af
I love searching up Jamey Jasta and his name always introducing me to new bands.
My sister passed away from a meth overdose this Tuesday. Thank you for making this song you don’t know how much this helps. Respect
This song gets me very emotional cause not only is it abt loosing someone you love but to drugs also
LETS FUCKING GOOOO 👹🩸
Goes hard af
Snare sounds like a body falling 200 stories and I'm here for it
I'm so sorry to hear Chris' family situation. :( I hope this song helps him alleviate the pain of losing his loved ones.
God damn. I’m so sorry for your losses Chris. Very important song, with a serious message.
Aside from that important side of it, the song rules.
Jamey looks like he's about to go postal... absolutely love it..
Just found this song by pure accident. Struck by how very much this guys voice is like Chris Motionless from MIW. Those growls. So good.
Babe, wake up.
New banger just dropped
How does bodysnatcher keep dropping the filthiest breakdowns one offer the other just relentless
This video hit home so fucking hard.... Damn Chris...😢 That was so Real. Powerful stuff guys! #hardasitgets
Amazing!
I'm thankful I've been sober off opiates for over 12 years, and I'm sorrowful for those who lost loved ones due to these drugs and fentanyl.
2:40 that groove goes so hard and is straight up nasty, idk how that's legal lol.
Then at 3:45 yall have the audacity to end it with such a slamming sign off that puts hair on your chest.
Yall just never cease to make ya boi wanna deadlift the whole gym while this plays. This is fighting music for sure. Im really looking forward to seeing this song live, cuz everyone will immediately go berzerk!
thats a sick ass gengar on the wall
in other news, that fuckin ending was INSANELY hard boys. cant wait to see yall tear it up again!!!
HELLLLL RAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
Just copped a bag of 4 years sobriety last week. Keep screaming at em men.
