If you think about the Software Development process it is very similar whether you do salesforce development or any other development. The only thing that changes is your programming languages, Tools and Technologies.

As someone working for 10 years in Salesforce domain will only have Salesforce knowledge.what will happen to the developers if Salesforce is replaced by anything else?

What you have to learn is not the tool salesforce but the application of salesforce. The Application of Salesforce has many things. One it is a SaaS application. So you have to learn everything about what is SaaS how is Salesforce a SaaS etc. Everything you can learn about SaaS. Then you have to learn about CRM or Customer Relationship Management. Because CRM is required for every business and there are 1000s of CRMs available in the world. Salesforce is number 1 and MS Dynamics is number 2.
