Love the tip on using a 1/2 orange gel and red gel to mimic a roaring fireplace behind a wedding couple.
Having so watched so many UA-cam videos, I was totally expecting that to be a teaser, i.e. “If you want to learn how I create a fake fire with flash, keep watching till the end of the video.”
So it was awesome that you rolled immediately into explaining that lighting technique.
Would love to hear the rest of the story on how you used off-camera flash to overcome the all-black room 😲
Curious if you only use speedlights or if you use bigger strobes like a Godox AD200, AD300 or bigger? What lighting modifiers do you use?
Looking forward to more good stuff on OCF.

I'm just trying to avoid those "typical UA-camr" stereotypes and stick to my roots as a teacher.
I'm currently planning a video that breaks down what I do for reception lighting that will include how I concord the all black room!
I use 2 AD200s as my room light. For bigger or darker rooms I'll sometimes throw up speed lights to help add some more light.
I use mostly magmod modifiers for the speed and convenience on my lights.
For room lights, I typically use a 1/2 cto and a grid. The half CTO to better match the lights already in the room and grid to direct my flashes in specific areas and not just all over the room. This also helps avoid those super bright spots on the ceiling by the flashes

The best thing about off camera flash is none of the soccer moms turned so called photographers can do it. The blown out backgrounds are so old.
