Mr. Mike, I have a couple of questions regarding this video. As you know, I have a 2001 NC and I've done the timing belt, water pump and all front seals. Before closing everything up, I wanted to do a compression check and a leak down test. My compression test went like this. My car has been cold for over 2 weeks and I did a dry test first and then a wet one. My readings are as follows: #1 35, #2 40, #3 35, #4 35. After adding some oil in the cylinders: 1-65, 2-60, 3-72, 4-55. The repair manual recommended the engine be at operating temperature but for me this wasn't possible. In your video you did it on a cold engine but on a 1990's car. The book also said my normal pressures should've been around 182 for a 1.8L and no less than 128. When I did the leak down test, cylinders 1 and 2 leaked at the intake and 3 and 4 leaked at the intake and exhaust. Are these indications common for a cold engine for my model year and engine size? Thanks!!!

Hello Sir Manny, From your test reading something is wak. Engine out of time at the timing gears, or the gauge is bum. You should see apx. 150 pounds on a cold engine. Good Luck. Mike. The King of Miatas.

thank you for this very informative video Mike! could you please explain a little bit more about how a little tapping on exhaust valve lifter fixed the leakage?
