I've had a set of Matador congas since 1995 and have treated them very roughly. They sound amazing still and have endured well. I suggest their synthetic heads for a very worry free tuning experience in any weather.
(Was watching movie "Bugsy" with Beatty/Benning and the words came up "bullfighting" and "drums"...entered them in and up came this post for congas...brilliant, brilliant, internet!)
Hey, Ira. Thanks so much for your interest. In this case, no. These heads are synthetic. Sometimes they do get dirt or gunk on them. At that point I would clean them. I hope this helps. Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com
@@sweetwater Thanks so much Jason. What would you clean the heads with? I currently have a set of Pearl Primero Congas. 10" & 11" and attached are 6" & 7" bongos, all on a nice heavy duty stand. But I am now looking at purchasing a better pro set of congas as these Pearl Primero's are kind of a starter kit from what I am told. I am looking for better tone and playability. Was told the LP Matador's are good pro congas. I was looking at some Gon Bops congas too. What do you suggest? Looking for 2 floor congas, 11" & 12." Or 11.5" & 12.5". Not sure the exact sizes. Also, do you think the natural skins are better than synthetics as far as playability and tone? Ira
@@Floridafisherman5000 Most people use water and a tiny bit of soap. Nothing abrasive, though. Both would be great. The LP Matadors have been a best seller for a while. Natural skins are much harder to maintain. Especially when tuning. They don’t play well with humidity and temperature changes. I hope this helps. Any recorded CD of the range of congas, creative ideas to add charisma and bring back music rather than yet another generation of engineered chipmunk voiced boring maadonna civvies and what's her name Ariana's?
When did we decide to replace talent and skill with chipmunk voiced, high heels, and red lipstick...work to do today...sorry if I offended, will step off the soap box now...someone else take over, first though, anyone interested in removing this knife from my back?
I have LP Classics which are basically the same thing with better hardware. These are fine for practicing, but there are so many better drums with real wood like mahogany and ash. These are very cheap assembly line crap.
We hope you enjoyed this look at LP's Matador Congas! Find out the latest in world percussion when you like, comments, and subscribe😎 Thank you!

Excellent!
Can’t hear the sound of the congas with all the background music
I so need them...
Price in indian money?
Calling all Desi Arnez, Sir. Frank S...all the orchestras!
I'm fairly new to congas. Does the heads ever need to be moisturized? Do they dry out over time?

I didn’t know he could play congas too.
He can also play guitar, bass, piano and sing all at a high level
He can't, really
That's a pretty good price...
He dont play congas.please
No need to call in a percussionist when Nick is the session's drummer.
Crank the tuning BUT; tune back down when you're not playing
Matador eran las de antes
I want it to heard conga beats, without the latin flavor added.
Latin Flavor? Its a cuban instrument compay
