Wow, cant believe i finished a wip I made way back in 2018! This project was always near and dear to my heart, its such a perfect song for Bramblestar and how he thinks back on his life with Squirrelflight throughout the many years they had together, I knew eventually I'd HAVE to finish this or else it'd be such a disservice.
I'm not much of a Squirrelflight lover, I actually don't like her that much, she was especially oh so infuriating in her super edition, I'm much more of a Bramblestar fan- but I can appreciate her, and I think this song does her some justice. She truly was a very selfless cat in her time, it's not crazy to me that now after all this time, she finally wants something for herself, which is what i THOUGHT she achieved by having Alderheart and Sparkpelt but I guess that's not enough for her...
Im getting ahead of myself- I mentioned I made this storyboard back in 2018, so the time period of this video is set i guess in Bramblestar's Storm? Basically, the end of the 5th arc/The Last Hope. I truly believed they should've remained broken up, but still close friends. After all they've been through, I can't imagine them ever separated. I'm pretty neutral on the bramblesquirrel ship, but much prefer them just as friends.
Anyway, I think the song's pretty self-explanatory. I love this self-reflection I have Bramblestar going through, that although he had the right to feel hurt, I think in the Reveal scene, he should've been there for Squirrelflight. especially when Squirrelflight's nearly always been there for him, despite the TNP group going their separate ways, his behavior about Squirrelflight getting close to Ashfur, his defense of Hawkfrost, ect. He can still be hurt, but it was never Squirrelflight's fault. I think, as a fandom, we should be a bit less pissed about Brambleclaw's behavior and more understanding of him, and a little more mad at Leafpool. She did drag Squirrelflight down with her! I'm just sayin'! Leafpool's novella is RIGHT there!
I also love at the end when Bramblestar does forgive her, Squirrelflight makes that one jab that I KNOW she absolutely would, saying she'd do it all the same over again. No Regrets! And
Bramblestar only chuckles to himself because yup, thats squirrelflight! It stings but he totally deserves that, and loves her anyway.
Sorry, I just have a lot of feelings about Bramblestar, and this video in particular! Hope yall've enjoyed!

I do not like Bramblestar at all, but when people pressure their opinions onto someone else it makes me pretty upset.
Cup O Warriors I agree, squilf deserves better but moonkitti fans can’t go and attack older content that is as posted before her video, people can continue loving characters and how they see them.
I would slightly disagree with you that anyone’s pressuring you they just want to express they’re opinion on the whole bramble subject. I do get being frustrated with a bunch of people telling you to watch it but they’re definitely not moonkitti worshippers it’s just the video goes into in-depth explanation of brambles abusive and toxic behavior towards squirrel from the start of them being together. I recommend the video to people because it’s incredibly well made and easy to understand and considering my disabilities don’t allow me to explain things properly it’s a good thing to listen to when you have the time! To me people refusing to admit that bramble was toxic and abusive to squirrel and trying to make there wrong doings equal is part of the problem of people going against victims in real life. I understand you’re frustrated and such but just know that some people, like myself, who are victims of abusive people, like bramble, feels like abling or defending his behavior which is just so wrong and bad. Hope this’ll help you understand the other side!

I really love that you included the parts where he was just being a happy proud dad because I know in the books after the reveal he showed little emotion for the loss of Hollyleaf and the parental feeling for his two adoptive sons (or at least what I can remember). I was always a little sad the Erins never wrote that aspect of Bramble reflecting on those moments he had with Holly, Jay, and Lion
I agree but in Bramble Stars storm it reveals how much he cares for them still and how much her misses Holly leaf

Tbh I find myself increasingly frustrated with how the Erins handle loss. I remember when there was a dead cat in the camp and there were cats just joking around...in fact that happens all the time in different ways. I've come to realize it isn't that the cats are supposed to be optimists but it's just awkward writing. I know Bramble in general was written to be a bit harsh though I also know it was sometimes forced.
Yess! I love how much he thinks about Hollyleaf in Bramblestars storm, because it really didn't touch on it in the main books. I think Brambleboi was just awkward and wasn't sure how to express his feelings to them after everything happened
This is very random but I wanna say how much I love the fact that brambleclaw has darker splotches of brown fur kinda matching Tawnypelt and helping point out their siblings. That’s just a really great design choice

I'm not the biggest fan of Brambleclaw in general, even before this whole "hEs abUsiVe to SqUiRrel". But this made me wanna pat his lil fluffy head because the two of them have been through a lot ya know? The song is really fitting and it made me appreciate him a lil more 👏

i still stand by my thought that the hunters forgot how to write brambleclaw-star after tnp .___. he def starts feeling like an entirely different character to me after reading recent stuff with him in it.
Absolutely. I mean honestly I’m kinda glad his character changed, he’s so much easier for me to read after TNP (he really was an insufferable jerk to me during that arc, but so are most warriors characters)

I really wish the Erins were able to really show this more emotional side of Bramblestar. From books alone, it is hard to really defend him, but he'll always be one of my favorites, through and through. You really showed his fatherly side in this, how he really did care for his children, even reminiscing about taking care of them. This brings a lot of emotions, and it so well done! The end part is perfect, cause like you said, I easily see Squirrelflight, even in her old age, making a comment like that. And of course Bramblestar being like, "Yep, that's the cat I feel in love with."

Out of all the cats on the journey, I liked Bramble the most. He went through a lot, and at some points I could relate to him.

I haven't read Squirrelflight's Hope since she's one of my least favorite characters but I don't relate to Bramble like that if he is abusive-
But I have gone through a toxic relationship with my boyfriend, no physical stuff but it just felt like we were both really unhappy and it was mentally abusive for both of us. We're still together to this day, we're much better now than that horror of a time.

Omg this is so lovely! I really love how you showed their age in the end with the gray streaks and whiskers. Bramble and Squirrel were my otp when I was little, and while their relationship wasn't shown as lovey dovey all the time, they fought through all of their hardships throughout the books and forgave each other. I appreciate how you depicted that.

@@winterlou2617 that was rather closed minded of you. Everyone is allowed to enjoy the style, tweening, expressions, as well as the effort put into this whole pmv while disliking one of the characters. Hell I am not a fan of Bramblestar myself, but this may be one of my favorite pmvs.
Honestly this is amazing, it shows how much they both struggled after Hollyleaf revealed the secret, the Erin’s wrote Bramblestar so bad after the secret was revealed, he seemed to have no emotion, they could’ve even added more emotion to when Hollyleaf died, I do like the fact that they had him be super angry with Hawkfrost.

I wish they wrote Brambleclaw/star a bit more differently. You think after he had such an evil father, he would try and not become like him, but then you see him kind of “mistreating” Squirrelflight and stuff, and it makes you wonder, what happened? I was hoping he could forgive Squirrelflight and still treat Jayfeather and Lionblaze like somewhat sons. Not totally father them but be supportive of them.
I agree. It's rough because I wanted to like him as a kid reading The New Prophecy, but reading it now I can't un-remember him as a dick in the future, and the result of bad writing and lore only made him worse.

But I definitely agree with you, it would've been such a great story to see him become a great guy after everything his father did. But instead of that, it seems in the end Firestar was right from the first time he saw Bramblekit.

This is adorable! Everyone says they should break up and that they hate Bramblestar, but I can't think that when I remember everything he and Squirrelflight went through together! They are two of my most favorite cats in the series and this perfectly shows their relationship! Them being old with grey muzzles also tugs my heart a little.
I used to love bramble until he became an emotionally manipulative dick.

I can wholeheartedly agree with your statement here. I loved, and always will love, the old BrambleSquirrel ship *before* the authors decided to pull a 180 and drastically change his character out of the blue.
I might even begin to start forgiving Bramble if he actually gave Squirrelflight a sincere apology. In Squirrelflight's hope, he said that "we shouldn't have let things get so bad". He used the word "we", and didn't even acknowledge his disgusting behavior. What he did destroyed Squirrelflight's mental state. Intentional or not, he treated her like dirt.
I just feel bad for what Squirrelflight's Hope did to decent character. I used to like him.

The bit where he looks at adult Jay and Lion. Then sees Hollykit and thinks “im so glad I did them” is SO powerful. You didn't need to show her death to just FEEL how he is feeling in that moment. Looking back on this after reading thunder this is an amazing pmv and really shows their relationship in the best way. Brambleclaw/star had his issues as a mate to squilf for sure but they grew together. Whether it was growing apart or growing closer we watched their journey from the beginning.
It's been two years and I still can't get over how beautiful this video is. I watch it like once a month, I just love the message, characters, song choice, and most of all your style! ugh, just beautiful!

People seem to forget that this vid was uploaded BEFORE Moonkitti's vid. i really like this because i feel this captures the exact tone of their relationship that the erins were going for. but squilf and bramble definitely could have been written better though and it sucks what we actually ended up with. their relationship is more annoying to read than anything imo.

I wish they would have written in a conversation of Brambleclaw and Crowfeather considering they're both the three's dads. I know it's still possible, but it gets more and more unlikely...

Leafpool was such a bitch doing that to Squirrelflight! She was a great cat and sister and still is, but that was a move that I will always be disgusted by. I won't ever forget she did that to her own sister and I won't entirely forgive that yet, since she never offered a proper apology to her sister.
same, really. i mean, she hurt people, but the whole narrative was trapped by starclan. squirrel literally had ghosts visiting her telling her to take her sister's kids lmao, and nobody defied starclan before. she really didn't do anything, but some people are still mad at her and not the cat gods.

this is so great. if we're talking about character design, the shapes are distinct and i could recognize the characters by their silhouettes. if we're talking about the song, it was a great choice and fits perfectly. the backgrounds are well done, the coloring and artstyle look amazing, the expressions in the character's faces are so good. really, outstanding job, i love it and it did make me cry a lil bit.

This is so beautiful! I loved the little moments you included with Hollyleaf. Their relationship just warms my heart. I have watched all of your PMVs and I love all them, just such perfect music choices and of course the ART just packs the perfect emotion.
And its nice to hear someone who not completely trashing Brambleclaw! While he is not my absolute favorite, I do have a soft spot for him. And I think you explained it perfectly in the description.

I haven't read the book and I study warrior cats from Wikipedia and fan videos.
I'd often heard that Bramble was terrible with Squirrel, but it was nice to see them as a good couple.
A couple who quarrel and make up, becomes closer and more tolerant of each other. A real loving couple.

I love the designs and literally everything about this and I do agree that Bramble seems misunderstood by many. But then again I haven’t really read many recent-ish books. Also, can we all agree that Leaf dragged down so many other cats because she couldn’t handle the consequences of her actions? Like, damn. Squirrel received a much worse punishment than her for just trying to be a good sister.

I don’t care what the fandom thinks. Brambleboi is my favorite character from this series, closely followed by Ivypool, and I was never happier reading a book than when he became leader after Firestar.

I have always had a soft spot for Brambleman, and I am still devastated in what his character became with the whole Squirrelflight situation. I feel like he's a big softie in reality but him and Squirrelflight just weren't meant to be. He's a good dad but him and Squirrelflight should've just remained friends.

this was so good and emotional holy cow.... this was a work of art (all the stuff you so is, but still-- it stands to be said)... your art is fantastic as always and i LOVE your designs and how chonky and fluffy you make the cats... but also oh my god the EMOTIONS i felt during this... the vibe of growing more distant with someone you love but still being there for them? so powerful! i also really wish they were just divorced friends, it feels like they went down different paths and they aren't quite on the same page anymore, but they do love each other still as friends.
