Hmm...Coming to this VERY late, but as much as I absolutely love so much of what O Harris discusses about theater and especially what he says about the need to bring in a more diverse crowd, I think he misses the nuance of generational differences. Most of his adult life was lived in the 21st century, most of mine in the 20th, of course I'm going to have "nostalgia for a time when phones weren't in the theater" unlike him, but this is generational, it doesn't necessarily make me a privileged elitist. When Dave Chappelle does his shows and asks for folks to put their phones in a bag before entering, I think the audience walks out having a very specific kind of experience than they would with the phone...A good thing I think. why can't we just see what it feels like to have a broader range of experiences rather than cut down a thing because we just don't get it. love this interview by the way. thanks :)

This is so disgusting it’s beyond words. No wonder it went to broadway and failed. And failed miserably. Bravo you deserve the failure.

Failed? Damn you live under a rock huh? Premiere at the prestigious Langston Hughes Festival, successful NYTW production with a sold out extension, acclaimed Broadway limited engagement, historic amount of Tony noms, wins from major award shows and publications, another strong selling Broadway run post COVID, and the first of I’m sure MANY successful regional runs in LA. It’s okay to be jealous Steve, but let’s not lie to protect our wounded egos.
