This is the greatest compliment that Insomniac games could've wished for.

If Alex Ross did a full, uninterrupted, real-time tutorial of how he does his paintings, I think that would be the coolest thing ever.

Always liked how the opening sequence of spiderman 2 has your renditions of scenes from the prequel. Your way of drawing the Spidey mask is quite marvelous.

The full body costume was also inherently relatable. “What I like about the costume is that anybody reading Spider-Man in any part of the world can imagine that they themselves are under the costume. And that’s a good thing” said Lee to Newsarama in 2015.

His Spider-Man is the best version of the character in the late stages of his life. I feel like he could emote in any way, even make a story as dark as Batman or play the role of a Superman so he's the best hero even when I prefer other stories at times

imagine a video game with this exact style and lighting throughout. i would say that it would stand out as being realistic while still having a very comprehensive stylized feel. the strong faces, detailed anatomy. if they take another crack at a Superman they should consider this

I wonder if Alex still paints the gray tones first or has he stopped. You don’t see him do it in the Marvel paintings he’s done recently

I’ve drawn a lot of characters since high school, and the hardest character I’ve ever had to draw was Spider-Man! One of my friends told me one time that he was gonna draw Spider-Man and I started laughing… he asked why and I told him cuz he didn’t know how hard he is to draw, he ended up asking me for help.

I'm consistently shocked at how much cartoonists and animator tolerate Spider-Man's costume. The webs seem at least slightly more complex than cartoonists especially seem to be comfortable with - generally.

I know he's not your favorite character, but why does the spider on Venom's chest only have six legs? This must be intentional, but why?

Just gunna go out on a limb and say the oscars for best ever character designs go to.....
    Spider-Man (I'm a DC fan)
Goku: The Godfather of a whole genre
Darth and Luke for being the quintessential examples of light and dark
    and finally
nothing else... I'm not sure anyone comes close to these guys in screen presence, as much as I love Batman, Superman, gaming characters like Sonic, Scorpion and others. I honestly think those are some of the best lead guys in all of fiction, to the point they've become overrated and underated again.

Romita Sr is my favorite artist and his Spider-Man is the best. I love the classic mask eyes. I despise the big-eyed and psycho-limber freak-fest Spider-Man that McFarlane created and everyone seemed to follow. I rank Ditko's Spidey costume as the best along with Ditko's classic Crimson-Gold Iron Man armor. I share many of Alex Ross' views. And I despise Venom.

@@Jackfromshack I don't think McFarlane's Spider-Man looks anything like Ditko's version. I can see people being scared of McFarlane's Spider-Man because he looks like a villain.

    • @Danimat72

just a matter of taste. Mc Farlane IMO, did an interesting version of Spider-Man, referring to what Ditko had made at the start, but also making the character a bit more scary for common criminals (not so much for real villains) Also i liked some of Spidey postures because he really acted like a spider, some of his postures are impossible for a normal human being yet, made the comic compelling. Mc Farlane was not so great in drawing, but he had great ideas and i liked the poses, the layout of his pages, the use of black areas in shadows and in the costume as well. Also the spaghetti web was so diverse than what we previously had seen in comics.
Ross has an interesting style too, being way more photo realistic, but his paintings are always compelling as well. His depiction of Spider-Man sometimes reminds me the classic John Romita style, sometimes the Spider-Man of the Tv show of the 70ies , and sometimes the one we see in movies today. Also, i like his new costume designs. :)
