I remember seeing his art work when i was 7 and i was confused if it was a photo or a painting i love his work so much
Dude, same here. From the spider man 2 intro is where I first saw his work
Dude same ,I remember seeing those iconic justice league and sinister 6 pieces back then and being in love with his work
SAME
Ay I've seen your shorts before! There pretty good@@TheComicBookReport
I read Kingdom Come in my 20s and it looked real to me too. Even this Spider-Man that he paints, the finish product looks so realistic. It's like a picture from the live action Spider-Man
I just love the little details in Alex Ross' art like 11:55 where you can see the webs on Spider-Man's forearms are slightly misaligned indicating that he's wearing gloves and that his suit is not just one singular piece. Things like that make it feel so much more alive.
same goes with the mask if you look closely
@@azri8415 Yup!
You can also the the lips!!! That's what I miss in movie versions and game, lips are like non existent.
Hasn't it always been drawn like that? How else would he get into his suit. Even in the cartoons this is done.
I love how Ross doesn’t apologize for not painting these characters like they’re on steroids, or have implants.
He paints the anatomy as it would actually look. He doesn’t show the cut muscles through the costumes, he paints the costumes like people actually wearing clothing.
That's a funny way to look at it, considering his opinion on superhero costumes is that they're "symbolically nude." He's said he depicts superhero costumes to be as form-fitting as possible for that reason.
I’m glad as well that he paints the creases and folds on the clothing. It never made sense to me reading comic book heroes where you can see all the muscles and veins despite wearing costumes. I guess it’s to show off anatomy.
@@futurestoryteller hi, you are misinterpreting somewhat.
>He paints them as real people wearing real costumes or cos play.
>His analysis is that the genre of comic book SUPER HEROES is mainly showing human body in best form possible.
Truth is that the Comic super heroes ARE body painted nude bodies with least amount of covering to hide its features.
@@danrazART I don't know that you really articulated a distinction in a way that I understand. My takeaway has tended to be that - based on his interpretation of superhero costumes - the only reason he doesn't do them up like bodypaint is that wouldn't quite suit the realist style he's always going for.
@@futurestoryteller Apologies.
Still based on interviews he has given and his art style, that can not be deduced whatever your comments are somehow implying.
He prefers a classical style. A classical approach to things. His ideals of beauty especially in human forms are classical.
He doesn't seem interested in body paints at all. IF he had been then he would find any excuse to do these and we would see in his work.
I think he wants to do human characters in real stitched clothes and costumes.
even the tech he designs is based on classical movie-style simplistic and rustic.
holy shit the amount of detail on his silver surfer drawing sadly being covered mostly on the mural saddens me
Right???? That looks amazing!
Search for the cover of Marvels #3, where the Silver Surfer is depicted reflecting New York and the flames of a flying Johnny Storm. It's one of the first pieces I saw by Alex Ross, and it also depicts my favourite Marvel character, so it's definitely a favourite.
In fact, just search for paintings of the Silver Surfer by Ross, he has made quite a few of them and they're all incredible.
Alex Ross is the official portrait artist of super heroes
I Am So Happy That Alex Will Show Full Demonstration Of SPIDEY!
Is this Alex now or an old video?
I really appreciate you for staying true to the iconic designs, the MCU is just fucking up everything so at least through your art kids can see how these characters were meant to look
Thanks for doing justice once again to my favorite character of all time from age 4 till I die
You should do a series of videos like Bob Ross used to do, except with comic book characters instead of mountains
Fucking Genius.
Bro
Chef Kiss.
Superman lifting up a mountain
Lemme just put a happy little spidey right here.
Love his artwork. That's exactly how I see the marvel characters if they were to come to life. Very Norman Rockwell style
I love the classic costumes. Ross is a master.
Hands down my favorite comic book artist ever. His work in Kingdom Come and his cover artwork is untouchable and iconic.
12:35 Alex Ross is the only artist to show Spider-Man with lips. He clearly favours realism over style. That alone makes him my favorite artist.
Right on Alex! Respect for these classic superheroes 👊
Alex Ross, you are a treasure!
Alex Ross is comic book royalty.
A true historian and master of the art form.
Tarantino needs to a direct an Alex Ross style spiderman man movie
YES ! YES ! FINALLY !
Finally what ? He didn't show us anything that we haven't seen before.
Dudes voice is soothing and hes the voice of all the 45+ guys out here who still love comics
Such a beautiful Spider-Man- the light- the fabric is glorious. So great how Spider-Man is that character who looks normal in a crouch even when Ross turns him upside down.
Alex, I think you definitely succeeded in bringing appreciation for the original costume with the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy because of your intro credits art. Even as a kid, I loved the movie suit, but I saw your art at the beginning and thought "oh wow...that's even better." Your art is so transformative for all of these characters so I don't doubt you've instilled the values of their history in other people!
We need more artists like him. It's always a pleasure listening to him.
Who doesn't want to see a video by the game-changing comic artist of all time ? BTW Alex, if you are reading this, you are probably the greatest artistic inspiration I'm ever going to have, thank you so much for building a part of my childhood with your hyper-realistic comic sketches .
You're a hero Alex. I love the art you did for the Spider-Man 2 opening credits.
I love his work on Kingdom Come. It‘s the one graphic novel I wish they would make a movie out of
I can totally relate regarding Electric Company's Spider-Man. I can't wait to see the mural. Hopefully their will be a print for sale.
bring justice to the originals!. i love your works and your mindset.
How is it im just finding this. Sheesh.
Anyway, thanks for the content Mr Ross. Been a huge fan for decades now... Man, time flies.
Just amazing, phenomenal artist.
I'm so impressed!! Thanks for sharing.
such an inspiration, just had to draw while listening to you. thank you man!
Nice video documenting Alex's thought process and and Spider-Man art. I think it was "Marvels" in the early 90's where I first saw his art and of course the realistic painting was exciting and new to view. The intro to the Spider-Man 2 film, with Elfman theme and SM1 recaps painted by Alex, very nearly choked me up at the theater - I love that! It should be done again!
I never would have guessed that one my favorite artists was not only so young but also has a fantastic speaking voice. Wow.
Alex, thank you so much for helping to preserve the classic aesthetics of these timeless characters. The way you talk about them also really resonates with me. And I love Hawkeye’s mask and classic costume too!
Thank you for this video, Alex!!!
Such beautiful work. I’m always in awe watching you. Thank you for sharing.
kingdom come is one of my favorite series of all time. i've read it 5 or 6 times. all the easter eggs in the art always blows my mind. amazing work Alex Ross
Amazing alex just amazing
you as well as your amazing art are both very honest, your work genuinely calms me which is sometime i rarely experience in visual media. :)
im collecting these now,,,,amazing covers
A classic and amazing. THE Classic, and THE Amazing. The one and only... Alex Ross.
Alex Ross is the GOAT of comic book artists. His characters feel so visceral, so real. I take much inspiration for my comic book artwork from him.
i love this realistic way!
Excelent work!
I just love the angles that Alex uses, some of those any artist would basically have to use reference to get the most dynamic but also accurate and realistic shot.
Alex Ross is the most unique and talented comic book artist I’ve seen in an age. Pretty hard to top him. Ross and the late, great Neal Adams are probably my two favorites.
The GOAT comic artist without a doubt!
"I love bringing Harley Quinn to life through my coloured pencils. There's just something about her character that speaks to me and I feel like I can capture her essence in my art."
Amazing.
Moved by your art for years, your words. Happy I rediscovered your Channel. Subscribed, FINALLLYY!
My favorite artist rn, a god at art
Truly remarkable
He is on another plane when it comes to his artwork geez louise
Incredible what this guy do.
Alex is as articulate as he is artistic. This was great to listen too and watch.
Love Alex Ross's work
Incredibile art. I love your work.
Amazing video ! I would love to see an Alex Ross full documentary on dvd/blu-ray like Drew Suzan did with his work on Hellboy, I think a lot of people would buy it
I like the most during the detailed process👍👍👍👍👍
Mr. Ross, I really appreciate your sharing with us your thoughts as well as your artistic methods. These are times of uncertainty and quarantine, and your words are essential to enter this vast world of design. I was 4 years old and I remember Bob Ross shows. It is no coincidence that my 2 main influences in painting, share the last name, in some way, it was already written, and you two motivate me with your videos, and literally, the imagination is the limit. You already have success, so I can only wish you a long life and prosperity.
I Dont know why but seeing you hold your canvas and paint makes me happy haha
Alex Ross u r a legend among artists
Every Marvel movie should look and feel like an Alex Ross come to life. The lighting, the camera angles, the colors... give us our childhood imaginations come to life. Cmon
i am a loyal admirator of you style when you drawing the characters of marvel we stay truly out of this planet because that is other art level
Alex ross your art is amazing
Again you are the best artist I ever seen plus I met Alex 7 years ago very very down to earth guy or I think it was more then that
Wow, and to think the very first Alex Ross cover I have seen and eventually owned was DC's Kingdom Come #1-4 back in '96, one my most beloved comics till this day.
I love your style so nostalgic
Love your work.
Beautiful.
I’ve been waiting for this video for ages haha
Desenhos fabulosos. Amei!!! Parabéns.
wow this is amazing!
Every time i see an alex ross art piece my reaction is, holy goddamn fucking shit its incredible
my god, your realism is *INSANE*
I could watch him paint for hours.
More mind blowing Rockwelling stunning work. The Norman Rockwell of comics and of the 21st century.
Something funny about how you pictured spider-man, this is the first time i see how you look and i always pictured you like some old scary dude like Frank Miller or Alan Moore, but you actually are pretty young🤣
Thank you Maestro!
More Spider Man, more more more!!!
I've been waiting for video like this from Alex for years!
alex is what he's doing with the characters, i don't really understand how but i just feel it, i first saw his Batman and for me it's The Batman
That was a great video thankyou.
you are the best sir thank you for this videos
My favoueite superhero that Alex Ross draws is: Hulk.
His design or arts of Hulk is for me the Best Design, especially Hulk's face!!
I was the same way growing up. Popeye and the Hulk were mine... Always directed my schooling twords illustration but had to take time off after i got my aassociates in "applied sciences"/ graphic arts. I never went back and only dabled in cincepts just to get the idea down on paper but unfortunately thats it... Ppl who known me since childhood say this should have been my life....😒. Im a huge fan of your work and ideas, and you hit the nail on the head with refurring to the admiration of others artist work lol☺. Congratulations on your successes my friend.☺👍👍👍👍
Man i miss reading comics, read alot of both Marvel and DC books over the years, but Spider-Man was the character that made me love comics, i read almost every Spider-Man story from the beginning up untill One More Day, that story just broke my love for comics.
Since i probaly read about 5 Spider-Man books the rest have been 10 Dark Horse Star Wars, but i just can´t get into it again, i hope i one day will again, might just need to start reading the classics again.
definitely like the new style of longer, more intricate videos !
You are watching a master at work
Red and black spidey. Man of culture
Legend. Bigups 🍻
Espetacular.
Amazing video
Too cool
Yeahh!! 👏👏👏👏👏
you are a genius sir
I would love a fully drawn Alex Ross series. It doesn’t even have to be another Kingdom Come, it can be something original but I want something!
Can't wait!!!
this is the coolest guy in the world
It amazes me more that he’s talking and explain while being able to paint these details so accurately
Big fan, and I always enjoy the content, however, not quite what I expected. Just more talking about the biz, history, and process which feels sort of redundant at this point. What I would love to see is the actual physical process itself; from the moment Ross enters the studio, to the introduction of his tools and paints, to taping that specific paper onto his board, and just giving us a sense of what goes on in his head as he paints.
Same. He should do vlogs to make it more personal. I know he doesn’t run his social media presence personally but would be nice.
Omg 😳 If i had his talent, i don’t know 🤷♀️ what i would do with myself 😂
