Easy speech therapy at home while baking the best chocolate cake!

Speech therapy at home happens in a variety of ways. One of the easiest ways to teach speech is by integrating your lesson as part of a fun filled activity like baking an awesome chocolate cake! This video will demonstrate some of the techniques you can use at home to build speech skills.

- No-dairy
- No-nuts
- No-eggs
- Vegan Friendly
Ingredients (TBSP = tablespoon; tsp = teaspoon):
- 1.5 cups All purpose flour
- 3 TBSP cocoa
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cup of water
- 6 TBSP oil (I like to use extra light olive oil)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp white vinegar (yes, vinegar, I know it sounds weird, you won't taste it)
Steps:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350oF
2. Grease an 8x10" pan with non-stick spray (butter if you're okay with dairy)
3. Combine all ingredients in one big bowl
4. Mix ingredients together until combined (over mixing batter will give you a tough cake).
5. Pour mixture into the pan
6. Place pan in oven on centre rack
7. Bake for approximately 30-35mins. It's important to not over-bake as this can make it dry. When ready the top will no longer be shiny, and a toothpick inserted in the centre will come out clean.
8. Add frosting if you'd like or enjoy on its own!
