Actually, had Jon Anderson not joined them, they weren't even going to call the new band 'yes' but rather 'cinema'. Which would have been like asia or gtr and yes would have either never been heard of again on changed shape, maybe becoming ABWH. So it was far more than Rabin, who I agree is a damn good guitarist
Totally concur! Trevor Rabin is the best ingredient for much of Yes' commercial-era sound & success (from '90125' through 'Talk'). 'Big Generator' has to his absolute best album with Jon & Co.
I grew up in the Steve Howe years back in the 70's. I saw the 90125 Tour Worcester Centrum, Mass. and Trevor Rabin blew everyone away. This was the best version of Yes w/Trevor Rabin.
Chris, RIP, was really trying to re-write history here, claiming Yes didn't "really break up" after Drama. They did break up, it was officially announced as a break up, and Chris, Alan and Trevor were the nucleus of what was to have been a new band after another new band with Jimmy Page failed to materialise.
I love how when the interviewer asks "well what did you do during this time, for these 3-4 years" and Chris Squire answers "well... Jon did some things..."
@@scottkent1223 Nice. It was on in the wee hours, that much I remember. What a treat back then; you used to have to hunt down stuff like that.... The effort made the reward that much sweeter !! I still strive to accomplish this even in the present day. I build model warships as a hobby & hunting down printed reference material for said model replicas can give me the same kind of kick from time to time.... I am also knocked out by the stuff here on UA-cam that keeps cropping up from my old fave bands. Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Headley Grange session recordings ? Or how 'bout this ? ua-cam.com/video/tvFmwT3LkII/v-deo.html
Jesus-Yeshua loves you without condition..He loves us all more than you know. It's time to turn your lives around. God bless you..You're very talented!
5:35 Like what Jon says about the eagle. ... which of course became a bit of a symbol for Yes (Roundabout, "The eagle's dancing wings create", Rejoice "the white eagle soars" and then in Owner... R Dean used the image, on the ABWH cover at least) ...Eagles prob eat tarantulas, mill worms and scorpions (as well as pigeons) for breakfast! Wonder what TR was going to say about the video "It's loosely based on..."?
Tania Armandez I did't say anything about living forever or that they looked dead. I just said they looked tired - burned out. There are other similar comments on this video. By the way, according to Ted Nugent, you never got to go.
They need to admit that Trevor was the reason for the success of that album,..Mr cocky bass player was the only one they could of replaced & no one would of noticed.,.He acts like hes the whole band When hes the most useless,..Jon got sick of that shit & now I can see why.
Chris Squire was the ONLY member of YES that was on every yes album. "Mr. cocky bass player". LOL! Jesus fucking Christ! You obviosly have no damn clue who Chris Squire is or his impact and importance in the Yes, bass, or music world! You have 4-5 bassist that are the most influential in music. Paul McCartney who laid out the blueprint of how rock bass would be played. Jack Bruce who showed the world that the bass could be as much of a lead instrument as a guitar. John Entwistle who invented how a bassist should sound. Then you have Chris. The bassist that all of the others mentioned admired! Please, don't try to insult a Squire fan! Chris was YES! Do a little fucking homework on the history of the band you mummified brain dead fuck and you would, at least by accident, gain a few nuggets of intelligence on a topic your ass simply decided to troll on. Go listen to some more of your goddamn 'old school' Nickleback fucking horse shit and leave the deeper subjects, like how important Chris Squire was, is, and always will be, to those of us who would actually have a goddamn brain stem!
Chris Squire WAS Yes. Magnificent bass player, terrific voice wonderful song writer and top end performer. He was the heart and soul of Yes and that crap they put out this year sucked. Because Chris wasn’t there.
RIP to one of the greatest bass players of all time. Chris Squire.
@Jeremy Spade 😥 I know very sad
Rabin is an awesome guitarist. He brought YES back with a new life.
Actually, had Jon Anderson not joined them, they weren't even going to call the new band 'yes' but rather 'cinema'. Definitely better than Howe.
That is hilarious. "Not the cosmic version, Jon!" :-D
Pulling off an interview half pissed is quite a talent. One that Chris Squire has mastered well.
90125 was one of the greatest records ever made. Highly influential. Long standing and it will stand the test of time.
nice to see chris;and jon getting along
Night Flight was pretty awesome. They showed some great concerts you couldn't see anywhere else.
clinke2007 I miss that show, they were able to get more in depth with bands and artists than MTV ever did.
Chris' glance was so charming... and he was so happy of having Jon back home.
I grew up in the Steve Howe years back in the 70's. I saw the 90125 Tour Worcester Centrum, Mass. and Trevor Rabin blew everyone away. This was the best version of Yes w/Trevor Rabin.
Absolutely brilliant. Chris in total control. Jon lost in it all. Trevor just watching and going for the ride. Thank you for posting!
Felt sorry for these guys with the bad questions. Good to see them, RIP, Chris.
Shine on Chris. Heart of gold. Jon and Trevor are the bomb too. Glad I got see them on the Union tour. That was a concert
Clever Trevor...he gave that band a new lease on life.
That awkward moment that you point out there was a Yes album between Tormato and 90125 that was without the singer sitting next to you
its cool to see old interviews....thanks for posting this!
Neat to hear them talking normally; only heard them singing for years
Are you joking? Without Chris' bass, Yes ain't Yes.
At this point Yes is Yes. They arent gonna stop lol
I love how when the interviewer asks "well what did you do during this time, for these 3-4 years" and Chris Squire answers "well... Jon did some things..."
😂
I remember Night Flight aired Yessongs. I recorded it on VHS tape and watched it for years afterward.
That was my introduction to Yes, around 1981. Blew me away. Still my favorite band

I saw Yessongs at a movie theater in New Orleans in 1977. It was the midnight movie. They had midnight movies every weekend. They were great.
2:55 "Yes didn't really break up it just sort of...um...y'know...uh...split." Well done Chris. This should have been in Spinal Tap.
So much talent they had to form multiple bands.
Has Chris ever done an interview not stoned?
...and Trevor looks like he's auditioning for the lead role in "Back To The Future"
Why can't they ever get a freaking interviewer who gives a shit and knows what he's talking about?
I think Chris had a joint just before this interview.
YEAH, THEY ARE BAKED!!!!! RITE ON!! :D-~
Oh man that part about the eagle is hilarious.
+SweetDjehutyBlueEyes "He doesn't want the cosmic version; he wants the funny version!" Classic.
"mr cocky bass player"? Chris Sqiure IS Yes
omigosh! what year was this? Are they even on planet Earth? what did they smoke before this interview?
God they’re all so cute❤️
My Gosh they look so young !
"not letting go of the thread"? the thread will not let go of me! Long live YES!
Trevor is amazing!
Jon did In High Places with Mike Oldfield.
Jesus-Yeshua loves you without condition..He loves us all more than you know. It's time to turn your lives around. God bless you..You're very talented!
Amen Joy. Sadly, Jon Anderson is still lost in a world of New Age cosmic deception.
Sitting next to Chris, Jon looks like he was left in the dryer too long and shrunk.
Where and when was the show broadcast? What channel?
At least they provided them with comfortable chairs so they would be comfortable during the interview. 😳
YES! FUCK YEAH!
This interview feels like “Where were you the night of..and when did you first come into contact with the defendant”?
of course storm made that excellent video, he also designed most of Pink Floyd's covers!
Awesome video. Some parallels to the Owner video in PF's Learning To Fly video 3 years later, btw :)
Is that Bob Coburn?
Rabin essentially took over the band...amazing coup.
Says the guy who's nickname is "always open".
3:24 28 years...... I didn't realise he was joking from here in 2022.
5:35 Like what Jon says about the eagle. ... which of course became a bit of a symbol for Yes (Roundabout, "The eagle's dancing wings create", Rejoice "the white eagle soars" and then in Owner... @arweiss100 They all seem completely mellow to me...almost stoned, really. hahaha
Wow, the guys were really bored here, huh ?
Nope, just stoned as fuck.
I think it’s more English reserve.
awww... everyone kept interrupting Trevor. Even the music video at the end...
@pryt86
you think? ;)
hahahah they really dont want to be there
It's Al Bandiero. He sounds a little stiff.
let trevor talk
well it ain't Beverly Hills, (thank the maker!)
@eennymo THEY ARE NOT FROM EARTH....!
No original members in actual Yes, no 90125 members neither.
Trevor Rabin. How did Yes ever get involved with this guy?
don't be ignorant.
Chris was cool to the audience when I saw him. What a great guy. Lost a good one. His story about meeting Jimi Hendrix is funny. Good storyteller
What happened to "not letting go of the thread?" Yes needs Jon Anderson, plain and simple!
Drama was a stellar album. One of my all time favorite Yes albums
yes Drama is amazing
These guys look tired
It's unfortunate we don't live forever!
Tania Armandez I did't say anything about living forever or that they looked dead. I just said they looked tired - burned out. There are other similar comments on this video. By the way, according to Ted Nugent, you never got to go.
Pretty fair bet they were touring when this came up.
Awkward interview. Great musicians.
This guy is the worst interviewer ever.
They need to admit that Trevor was the reason for the success of that album,..Mr cocky bass player was the only one they could of replaced & no one would of noticed.,.He acts like hes the whole band When hes the most useless,..Jon got sick of that shit & now I can see why.
5664788 this is probably the most ignorant comment ever. Chris Squire was an AMAZING bass player.

Trevor is a gay name.
the voice of Jon Anderson is like voice of Sting
