The most curious aspect of this 'event', to me - is how theres a 'range' of effect around it. Usually when you can't pause it is a 'universal' occurrence, preventing you from escaping or ignoring it, no matter at what point of the map you're in. Thus - the chances of 'events' are not only I imagine, going to be more hidden going forward, but also 'preserved' in special positions (if we don't assume this statue doesn't move on its own), which is why I find it curious how it's so relatively close to the outside bounds, right next to the entry gate too.

The goat statue is over by the wooden shack on my playthrough currently. Scared the hell out of me. Funny thing is, it's still on it's podium where it belongs at the top of the hill, but also in the woods.
Considering the devs put Furfur - a Great Earl of Hell with control over 26 legions of demons - in the game, i wouldn't be too surprised if this was an idol of Baphomet. Also I'd like to point out that I looked up who Furfur was out of curiosity. If I were to be in a cult, it would most definitely be one that worships a benevolent Greek Titan or Egyptian deity such as Helios or Hathor and not one that worships hellish beasts or demonic beings
I want to let you both know, just how much you made me smile with these two comments lol. I do agree though that the game is getting less scary with every update, especially with things like "killable enemies" and "a literal fursona skin for Kerfur" recently added to the game lol. People are posting cool videos of new crazy events, but I'm getting spammed by fucking floating boars and firetanks, both of which are literally the least scary things in the game by far...
I feel like harder difficulties should cause more dangerous and scary events to occur more frequently and for longer while also making harmless events rarer and easier to miss also, if you want to get rid of the "uwu" stuff then turn "the funny setting" off in your game settings

That's when I stopped respecting him as a hard working developer making something basically alone. Have some fucking courage to say "Nah, this is my game" or just don't fucking add stupid shit that the masses say "This is stupid, we are literally paying you money to make a game for us on Patreon, and you get mad when we say we dislike changes" $11,000 USD a month to NOT finish his game over these now TWO YEARS, and to not appreciate considerate real valid criticism, and by basically copying other (unique) game ideas as his only method of creation; he's running a fucking RACKET on you guys LOL.
