Loved this interview. I had just downloaded the book on Audible. I am 61...have lost my best friend, my sister, my mother, my sweet 15 year old golden retriever and my marriage in the last 3 years. Grief is enormous in this life, but as you say, we will all walk through it. Acceptance is a challenge in this life, and we will all try our best. I have a long drive coming up and and I can't wait to listen to Valerie's book. And, of course, I love the Sunday Paper...each and every Sunday it grounds my day and my week. So, grateful for both of you on this journey. Blessings.
I no longer have family and have recently retired and accepted the world can be my oyster yet diagnosed with heart valve condition trying to live each day to the fullest ❤️ and I am so blessed 😇
You are a strong and amazing woman! I am also 61 and have very similar losses…helps to know I’m not moving through this life alone! All the best to you. :)
I’m going tomorrow to pick up a copy of Valerie’s book. Funny how you feel you know someone you’ve never met because you’ve followed her for so long. Love both Valerie and Maria. Such strong, beautiful, and inspirational women. Being in my 60s I agree, Enough Already! ❤️
Valerie B is my spirit animal. Seriously! Same for me. I'm separated and will divorce for the 2nd time. All I've known is taking care of others. I'm excited to be "solo" in this life. Looking forward to reading the book. Good interview, Maria!
Wonderful, beautiful, kind, bright, sensitive, authentic and articulate woman! Funny that she didn’t feel she was enough when most of us strive to be just like her! Love her!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love this interview, so humbling and true. With age comes wisdom (and hopefully a sense of humor too!). A time comes when you just don't give a s*** what others think of you. Things happen for a reason, it is ok not understanding why or what the reason is. Living mindfully really does help.
This book could not have come at a better time! I'm 54 and I realized that I have obsessed about my weight every day since I was a teenager! It's been decades of watching what I eat and yo-yo dieting. I wondered, "when does this stop? when is okay for me not to worry about this ALL the time?" Frankly, I realized that I was tired of it, I'm just done. As long as my clothes fit comfortably and I try to eat healthy, it's okay not to be that perfect size.
What a wonderful interview! Two women on their unique journeys, opening space for all women to love and accept themselves. Many thanks to Maria and. Valerie… 🙏🌸🦋
Thank you for this very cathartic interview. Valerie’s advice to not only stop talking but to also not think of what you will say in response was very eye opening to me. I realized I’m not really listening to anyone when all I’m actually doing is thinking of my response WHILE THEY ARE STILL TALKING. THANK YOU! ❤️
Hi Maria and Valerie. I grew up with negative attitude and unknown myself. So a few weeks,I manifest to ask universe to change from negative to positive. Trained myself and my brain to stay positive. Man it does work. My language sounds so much better my speech makes clear
Thank you, you hit it right on the head, no pun intended. At a certain point you don't want to beat yourself up for all what society pushes on woman and the man's perfection of what we should be.
I finished the most wonderful book having cried, laughed and empathize. The recipes and pictures unexpected and so treasured. Than you soooo much Valarie for in my head reading this to me.
I just finished it and I don't like the comment she made in the chapter about the Wallabies where she said she was ashamed of most everything she did and said in her 20s. There is no shame for having loved Eddie Van Halen.
I loved this interview. Maria you are looking so young! I have always wanted to get your book " I have been thinking ". Well hopefully soon. I love Valerie's new book "Enough Already ". Amazing... Thank you so much for writing the book. God bless you. Best wishes. I laughed a lot at some of the things I read. You have a great sense of humor.
I have been a subscriber to The Sunday Paper but never really had perused the content in depth. I saw this interview and loved it and am excited to continue "surfing" around the content. It is perfect timing for me. Thank, you, Maria.
Both of you are inspiring! You both come from a place of being there, knowledge, intelligence and being down to earth - appreciated. It is so hard when spouses, family or public just wont accept weight gain, times when you have down times and judge you for some parts of your life and not on your life as a whole - especially women. Divorce, weight gain, judgement is so painful and is a long journey. The only thing I find hard to understand is being kind and always being kind but sometimes that is just a guilt trigger that keeps people who love holding a carrot in front of you from looking at themselves - there are people who wont change and will always hurt you no matter the sacrifice. Bullying is real for adults and seems to be accepted when it comes to looks, depression, mistakes. Some people just have an easier journey and don't understand empathy. Love is the key word - sometimes the person saying that means something else than it means to us. Emotional abuse is a slippery slope. ENOUGH. Thank you for your wisdom.
Loved the interview! I felt like you two could be my friends and we could share so many similarities of our lives. That’s the vibe this sent off as I watched. I’m in the same age group and totally get what Valerie was saying about herself. Thank you. I needed that.
Valerie you sooo wise!!! I love you for your amazing insight..it has truly helped me listening...and I hope it helps others😊 Cannot wait to get the book!!! Although Valerie you said no more books probably in the future....The last thing you spoke of was handling death and what we learn from it....sounds like a great topic for another book some day....just sayin'😄
Valerie is so amazing, and shes right, knowing who you are,Valerie and Eddie were such a nice coupke, there again its life, whatever the reasons we go through these things,as long as you come out the other end and in one piece. 😊
How we beat ourselves up. We become what we say. Enjoy your life 2020 was a really hard year for you. So lm sure you're a emotional eater using food to comfort yourself I've been there and I do it . You're beautiful person in side and out. God bless
Love you Maria and Valerie And I want to share Dr.Carolyn Leaf Neuroscientist with you, she is all about Neuroplasticity! And I will check out the Therapist you mentioned.
You are on the verge of meeting the greatest lover ever I truely love you Valerie. I will let you need to know you do not have to worry. Because I will make your life each day a blessing of life my dear. If you would just take a chance on me. Love Always UJJones JR
I just want you to know I grew up with you every sense you young you inspired all us young girls dreaming to be like you your personality is so electronic and still is loved you on cook shows you were on ......our time back when we were growing up then was judged by people so we felt we had to live by image s put forth as young women at our age and I'm 6 yrs. older now learn to live in our skins learn to love our self s except our self s to think each generation has different timing of images they all get caught up with as we did in our time my Dear your a inspiration with lots of love to offer teach and share so rite that other book that you wanted to god is opening more doors for you sip a cup coffee enjoy the birds Amen
So very VERY sorry for your loss hon. And I mean that genuinely. There are no words but you DO have wonderful, loving memories. From experience they can and WILL sustain you when you least suspect it. Sending you thoughts of support, peace love and healing.💛
You touched me..my Dad has been gone for 5yrs…it’s feels like yesterday….it’s devastating and I almost hate it when people say he lived a good life..he lived a long life but that doesn’t help when it’s your father who you will never see again…my heart is crying for you.
I wish people would love themselves like they are BUT please please if you cannot go to the gym and do something about it. I have lost 30 pounds and have gotten my diabetes under control. Loving yourself at the gym 3 times a week is my therapy and is how I say ENOUGH already. I believe making yourself the best you can be is your true happiness and is the best revenge for those who don't know your worth.
Looking in the mirror and seeing droopy eyelids I know mine are from aging - hooded eyes due to aging. Why do we expect famous women to look younger than they are and to get surgery if they don’t? Personally, I respect Maria for not giving in to that expectation and having an eye lift. Isn’t that the point of the interview? Maria and I and thousands of other older women who choose not to have surgery are going to look stoned together.

My dad, who lived with us, died Thursday. I feel like someone kicked me.

Being alone is great 🤠 never again....time for you....selfish is okay.
AL-ANON SAVED ME! I ALSO SAID I WAS FINE AND BECAME A CO-DEPENDENT CONTROL ADDICT!

Then who is that on the cover of the book? Enough.
What is that supposed to mean? Its Val.
Valarie is AMAZING! Maria looks totally stoned- Droopy eyelids. We thought she was gonna fall asleep during the interview.
Looking in the mirror and seeing droopy eyelids I know mine are from aging - hooded eyes due to aging. Why do we expect famous women to look younger than they are and to get surgery if they don’t? We need to stop and BE STILL, get off of the hamster wheel! Let go and let God! 🙏🦋🌻
Hummmmm....
Valerie is a great lady. However I truly believe she is terribly unhappy....teary-eyed alot. She is I believe not happy being obese.
