First, thank you for making these videos. Your attention to detail is superb. I did not remove the knee bolster, I simply cut the hole for the switch box and was able to mount the fuse box by just pulling the bolster.
I had one of these pull into my bay for this kit, plus the accessories. Had no clue how to disassemble the interior being a heavy diesel tech. This vid is a life saver. Thanks for not skipping over things that "automotive" techs should just know.
Great video. You saved me a ton of time trying to get the stupid dash apart. Mine has a center console which I found a forum on how to get it out to get the bottom two screws on the radio/ heater controls off. That was a huge pain. Your video was done very good and couldn’t have done it in my short window of time without you. Thank you keep it up. Start to finish in 4 hrs.
First off, thanks for your effort on this video. Secondly (I havent finished watching yet before I tackle this so maybe its addressed in the video), I have installed an aftermarket trailer brake controller using the plug and harness GM provides. That is currently occupying the plug for the fuse box. I wonder if I can pull the pins out of that plug and insert them into the fuse box plug....
i can’t get mine to work. i followed you step by step. the switches light up and all. i go to hook my positive wire from my rock lights to the blue wire for aux 1 and i’m getting nothing.
I don’t have any power going to the auxiliary fuse panel, does anyone know where it’s powered from through the main fuse box? I have backlights on the buttons but no output
What is the mounting screw size for the fuse block? My dealership was not able to find the size in their parts system. I took the fuse block to a local specialty hardware store called Tacoma Screw and they were not able to match a size.
so GM goes years without Upfitter switches then they get them and actually make more work than just putting your own switches on the dash. The only benifit to this is that i dont have to drill holes in customer dashes. I still have to enter the cab.... I still have to install fuses and lugs in the PDB... I now have to mount another fuse panel (in the dummest place to mount a fuse panel)... Honestly if it wasnt for not having to drill holes in the dash i think i would probably just skip the OEM Upfitter switches. You want to do upfitters right GM...? Do follow the guys who have done it longer than you (Ford). Oh and start actually painting your truck frames instead of undercoating them! man i hate working on GM's lol . Nice video though! thanx for showing me where the 5th switch was!
That 5th wire goes up to the 3rd brake light and its pig tailed with a black ground and a bitch and a half to get to as you have to pull the head liner and 3rd brake light assembly to get to it,,,, easier to cut it where you said and run your own wire.... LOL
Hey CJ Great video man! I have a 2021 Trail Boss 1500 LT in black. Can you tell me where I can buy the entire kit. I tried searching online but no luck. Also I have a 30,000 lumen lights that will be going on my sports bar, will this support such a high lumen lights?
This seems like a pita to install. What was GM thinking, you shouldn't have to take apart your entire dash to install switches. I think I'll stick to aftermarket.

Same here. Did you figure out what’s going on yet?

Can u tell me if the wires are live and u need chassis ground ?

They’re just automotive sheet metal screws that screw into the speed nuts.
I have a question about the battery cable is this the same 84794790 ?
I just opened my kit. The battery wire is 84794790 so the answer is yes.
@@Mike44460 thank you

Did the screws you used to mount the fuse block come with the kit?
No mine did not come with it, just had to find screws that fit

Dealer can order it or some have it in stock. It’s around 145$ complete
