  • Emirates holds the title for having the most Airbus A380 aircraft in its fleet, but hasn't been able to use them to their fullest since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Like many airlines, Emirates had to reduce its flights, which made operating the A380 less practical due to its size. However, in a surprising turn of events, the A380 aircraft has seen a significant comeback following the crisis, leading Emirates to bring most of its A380’s back into service. What's even more surprising is Emirates' recent announcement of their ambitious plans for the A380 that has caught everyone’s attention.

    I flew on this plane to Thailand 3 weeks ago, and the plane is much more comfortable than Emirates' Boeing 777. Bigger seat, more legroom. I only wished they had Economy Plus available on 6h lights.

    I am 83 and last year used my savings to go back to Seychelles for a holiday and I went from Heathrow to DUBAI on A380 and that was superb, when using a Boeing 777 to my final trip., because Seychelles does not have a runaway that could take A380. , Airbus is so superb that NO Boeing plane could be as good as the A380

    I love so much the A380! It is so quiet, safe and powerful ! They should have a program to upgrade the A380 in steps: first the engine with high-on-wing time (do not marry only with one engine maker !), then the wing material (Composite) and then the other parts of the plane! Voilà the possible strategy to get A380 back to the sky!

    One big advantage Emirates probably has over other carriers is the cost of fuel. This is a huge advantage while other airlines look to balance passenger loads and fuel costs. As the A-380 ages that is when the 777X might come into its own with Emirates.

    • @gcaflyer

    Give me a break. When will the fanboys [me being one of them]. When will someone point out the only reason Emirates made a commitment to A380 is that the all get fueled at Dubai. They rarely pay for fuel at their destination airports. This operating model can only work with Emirates airport hub paying significantly less than any airport in the world for fuel. The United Emirates is a top 10 oil producing country.

      Typical myth spread by somebody that does not know details and has not checked facts. Suggest that you download their annual report that is available on their website and do a PROPER calculation on fuel cost. You will find out that this is not much different to any other airline per gallon. The key for an A380 is to fly it full of passengers than the fuel cost per passenger is not too bad.

      @chebrubin 6 місяців тому

      @@robbroere1384 LOL "Despite our financial transparency, a few airline competitors have claimed that we benefit from reduced fuel and airport charges and receive other financial support."
      The same can be said about Lufanthasa dusting off those A380(s) in Spain and fueled up @ Frankfurt with that Putin fuel. These are state owned subsidized carriers.
      No one is paying for Delta, American and United(s) fuel costs with those funny soft petrol dollars.

    • @gcaflyer
      @gcaflyer 6 місяців тому

      No Delta, American, and United were allowed to use bankruptcy court to walk away from their obligations to their creditors, employees, lessors, etc. Even after congress had passed legislation to allow them the time they required to meet their unfunded pension obligations they still took bankruptcy! Of that isn’t state subsidized I am not sure what is.

We all agree the A380 was a terrible failure that Airbus was able to afford because of the Boeing incompetence by buying the greedy corporate McDonnell Douglas, but please do not call a relatively new airplane obsolete...it is just stupid ( yes that's true, had Boeing not buy McDonnell Douglas and invest even more on the 787 and new 757 (797) programs, Airbus would have gone bankrupt, but the A320 and 321 saved their asses
