No problem for me. I entered OCS just 3 months after I graduated from boot camp. In between, I was made an assistant company company while awaiting orders to OCS. I was already indoctrinated into the Navy life for 5 months before entering OCS E1 to O1 in just 6 months is the best that I can do.
Swim isn’t until week 5 and 6. Yes the swim qual is 3rd class swimmer same as bootcamp in Great Lakes. There is a strike system. If u false a graded evolution, you get a strike. You have one day to retake as if you double tap the same evolution. You get rolled into H company (holding for 3 weeks till you class up again)
I have a question about the IST, on the Navy website it says you can do a 450m swim instead of the run for cardio on the PRR, do you know if this also applies to IST, and if so, how to you go about doing that?
@@evanjohnson4133 The thing is I'm still in high school, so I was thinking that talking to a recruiter 4 years in advance didn't make sense since so much can change in 4 years. But I don't know, if you think it would help, I could reach out to a recruiter.
@@evanjohnson4133 thanks Evan! Let me rephrased my question a bit. For the officer candidates at OCS that are going to BUD/S afterwards (Civilian or prior enlisted individuals that were selected at SOAS and are now attending OCS), are they given additional time at OCS to stay fit, work on running/swimming/etc.?
@@ducekilla111 OCS is to create Naval officers. SOAS is different from OCS. When you get selected to attend OCS, your goal is to graduate and earn the title of Ensign in the USN
Thank you sir for the videos, they helped me prepare for my OCS journey. I commissioned with class 14-24 on 8/2/24!

Great question and no, unfortunately. You only swim for your third class swim qualification. Everything is running in OCS and enlisted bootcamp.
