How do the half tracks maneuver? Does the steering wheel do all the work or do you have to brake steer alot? Does it turn worse with them on vs off? Thanks I am contemplating a set for a tractor with weak brakes.
@@off_grid_life well this tractor actually has no breaks lol it works quite well, sometimes when your trying to turn sharp it will shove you ahead a bit but I haven’t had much trouble with it. Iv been getting a lot of questions about them so I may do a video explaining a little bit more and show some examples in the woods with them 😊
@4Dan21 thank you very much! Just the answer I needed.
Towed, vehicles need to be pulled out from the lower part of the frame, not the upper part, where you're pulling up, not down ✌️❤️🇨🇦
@@edkennedy9090 lol you are correct! Unfortunately for me the cutting edge of the plow blade, cuts straps and tow ropes :p if I had a chain in the truck at the time I would have hooked that to the bottom of the plow mount then the tow rope to the chain but I did what I could with what I had handy at the time 😂
Man I see them old Massey Ferguson tractors in the background and would love to see a video on them even if it is just you telling about what they are and the spec's on them
@@SteveLynd they are good old tractors! They are in some other videos using them for hay and such but I will definitely be doing more videos of them 😊
@4Dan21 yeah man that sounds good I'm just a big fan of the old Massey Ferguson tractors I've got an old 65 gas it's a good tractor haven't found much I couldn't pull with it
@ yes they are great tractors! They start easier and are cheaper to fix as well! The older looking one is gas 😊
Great video just the Machine and you no music that great really like the old Tractor video

@@4Dan21I'm in Maine. I have a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee tractor. I have the kit for the half tracks, but need the tracks. Gotta love the old Detroit Iron!
someone gonna be bizzy in spring....lol...so did ya finish the job or just make a mess......
@@donduck6621 we may make a mess sometimes but we always clean up after! 😂
Haha great video. Im convinced to get one now.
Please don't attach your recovery rope to your trailer hitch ball. That's extremely dangerous. People have been killed doing that.
@@jerrymoats7987 yes I agree you shouldn’t do that! And I didn’t do that lol that is a pintle hitch so it closes over the rope so that it can’t come out 😊
Great it appeared it was the trailer hitch ball 😊
Don't smoke cigarettes people have been killed for doing that
The people that’s been killed they have used a 10 inch drop.
A recovery point on a trailer hitch ball? Ratchet straps? No one packed the correct equipment? Soft Shackles, Snatch Blocks, Recovery Mats, Metal Shackles and Kinetic Recovery Rope.
@@AFerron lol well if you listened to the introductory of the clip I explained I was at a family Christmas gathering when I got the call so all I had was what was in my truck at the time witch was proper recover gear lol. It was not a ball hitch it was a pintle hitch so it closes over the rope to keep it from coming out and yes it was a kinetic energy rope with a pull strap as a extension but unfortunately I didn’t have enough strap to reach a tree as a redirect so I had to improvise with what I had to get the job done 😊

@@jonathanfreedom1st lol thanks man! 😊
Your both idiots, hook the strap under plow to plow frame or truck frame to pull it upwards not up high like ya had it were it yanks down on plow and front end. Would have came out alot easier matei!!!
Lmao 🤣 I should have explained that! We couldn’t do that cuz the cutting edge of the plow cuts the straps when it pulls up on it now if I had a chain with me then we would have used that to hook to the plow frame at the bottom then a strap onto the chain so the strap was past the plow and wouldn’t get cut. But good observation! 🤣
Some folks have. NO CLUE
Now, Trump will coming...
Can u use spickes? Thanks.
@@johnsmart3587 no we aren’t allowed to here cuz they are hard on the roads apparently but I wish we could :p
Better get a Yankem rope....
I worry about you driving so fast on those snowy roads, especially the curves. Thanks. (Hee).

@@Nick-nw6zg thank you 😊
I pull my kids on an old pickup hood with our JD Gator here in Kansas like your doing with the four wheelers. The horses look more romantic and nostalgic, good memories for your family. My family used to pull the hood with a pickup when i was little until my cousin broke her arm....that stopped that tradition. The gator is a little safer and I'm not as crazy as some of my relatives. We also have a stearable sit on sled exactly like yours. Lots of fun. We're in a blizard here now so we're making memories today. Thanks for the video
@@davidstrnad-km8iz that all sounds like good memories except for the broken arm of course :p
I remember those plastic skis from the 80s, "Olympic 80" we called them. I had a lot of fun with those. We have a lot of mountains and hills around here and all my family and friends played in the snow. Good memories of a 70 years old man.

Why do you guys not keep a set of chains with you I always have a set of chains in my in my XJ when I am plowing
@@jacobrobinson175 lol cuz we plow over 100 driveways if we chained up for each one we would spend all day putting chains on and off :p plus we are never alone plowing and it’s part of the fun ;)
Cool video. I love riding 4 wheeler in the snow.
@@Wheelloader__ thanks 😊
Two words. "Tire chains".
@@beyondmiddleagedman7240 ya they would help but we do over 100 driveways and roads and we would spend all day putting chains on and off :p
@ 11:31, the stuck truck should have had his wheels turned all the way to the driver side to help bring the front end out of the ditch.
Tire chains would help
@@kevincole3352 Ya they would but we don’t have time to put them on every driveway and road we plow lol there is more then 100 places :p

@@kevincole3352 getting stuck is all part of the fun anyway :p

08:02 Is that a 6.5 in the Chevy 1 ton? I’ve got a ‘92 3/4 Chevy w/6.5 mech injection. No trouble ever with it. Just don’t try to do too much.
@@ulhpilot7757 yes it is but it’s a 99 electronic injection witch gives me trouble but other then that the rest of it works great, the mechanical was definitely the way to go! Should have kept the electronics to a minimal! :p
@ulhpilot7757 I too have a 6.5 sitting in a 1993 C3500. I've had it going on 22 years. They say they manufacture the 6.5 for economy and longevity. I believe that because of the lack of power they have compared to other engines that size. The biggest problem I've had is a glow plug system finally I had to bypass it and install a manual switch if I need to override the automatic system. No mechanical failures just the TPS (throttle position sensor) had to be replaced.
Very Nice Dozer/Truck/Tractor Actions 👍👌😇🖐Cheers 🍻🍻

Always nice to have a sleigh ride on Christmas be safe and Have a Merry Christmas
@@ronaldwood9911 I agree, thank you and merry Christmas! 😊
My dad had an old Ford 8N with a set of half tracks like that. He built a set of skis that cradled the front tires. They were about 3.5 feet long and 10 inches wide. That thing could go over the snow just like one of those snow cats that the rural electric companies had. And he had a Dearborn loader on it. It had a gravity dump bucket. After he dumped the bucket he would have to drop the loader down while backing up, then the bucket would roll back into a spring loaded latch and be ready to go for the next bucket full of corn silage to dump. He fed a couple hundred head of cattle with that thing for two winters. Then he moved up to an M International with a wide front and a 525 Dual loader. That little Ford was quite the outfit.
Oh ya! You still see the odd trip bucket system every now and then but mostly they have been converted to hydraulic with a cylinder added to the bucket but at one time that was a top of the line machine 😊
Enjoyed your video.
Mate, my wife and I are staying in our caravan overnight at The Woolshed, a popular rural cafe out of Sanson in the lower North Island New Zealand. They have one of these exact same rusty beasts featured in their car park (the only identifier was OLIVER on the inlet manifold), so I did a little digging and found your video!! Thanks to you and Victor for pulling it apart and getting it going, so now I know how it works, and what it sounds and drives like. The only difference is their battery plate is left of the motor, plus it also has a crank handle, but otherwise it is yellow and rusted and identical including the wide wheelbase. I’m sure it’s too rusted internally to go again, but I would love to know what jobs it did back in the day. Thanks guys!
@@musicman53 that’s pretty cool! See if they will ship it to Canada and we will get it going and put it back to work again! 😂
