The Rolling Stones?!?!
whoa this is an impressive list!
The Beach Boys performed here quite a number of times. So much so that Lagoon was forever enshrined into the lyrics of their 1965 hit "Salt Lake City":
"There's a park near the city, yeah
All the kids dig the Lagoon now
It's full of all kinds of girls
And rides and we'll be flyin' there soon now"
Did Elvis appear in the 50’s?
The Association. Ahhhh the very first concert I ever went to. I was maybe 10, 11 years old. We got free tickets for credits buying back to school clothes in our little little downtown area. We were a small town at that time.. great memories! Seems like I saw the Grass Roots too.. @ the same location.. still in use, too! Going there to my grandsons football game tonight😍
My grandparents met at Lagoon in the 1940's, so this park played an important part in our family. I got a chance to ride The Hammer when I was about 10 with my younger sister. I believe the whole park heard us scream "Mommy, get us off this ride!" LOL
THE "HAMMER"!?
@@Artic-paws what is the hammer??
lol the hammer always felt like it was falling apart i remember being younger it got stuck with people ridding it
So happy our little lagoon was shown some love! I even learned some cool things I didn’t know before!
My husband proposed to me on that Ferris wheel 🎡 that spins around in the middle. He waited until it reached the tip top. Then broke the question❓❤️ Fond memories. It has been almost 25 years ago.
What a great memory. 💙💚
I love Lagoon. In the summer, some large companies will rent one of the pavilions for their employees for the day. Then the employees get discount tickets. Lagoon is a magical place. My wife is always so worried that people will steal from her if she leaves things laying around. However, only at Lagoon, she has no issues leaving a cooler full of food and drinks sitting by itself all day long under a tree while we are having fun. Then we come back and eat a picnic dinner. Then leave the cooler there until we leave. No where else in the world will my wife leave an unattended cooler all day.
Colossus was the biggest deal when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s! Lagoon has grown so much since I was last there!
I've been waiting for this for so long! A request made years ago finally fulfilled 😅
i LOVE how you can just see the mountains in the background and all the green. So nice.
23:00 You have no idea how much I needed to hear that today! Thank you. Also it’s called the cannibal because it eats other roller coasters at least that’s what they said in the brochure. Oh man I wish I could talk! I’ve got so much history in my brain bouncing around about this park.
Ah, my old stomping grounds! I got my first job at Lagoon in the games division. Couple years later, I came back and worked five seasons as a ride operator. Seeing your video made me all nostalgic. Hope you enjoyed! 💙
I was supposed to go for a field trip in middle school but medical problems prevented me from going. I've heard how wonderful it is.
Lagoon has a special place in my heart. I grew up going there. The White Rollercoaster was my first coaster and the Colossus was my first inverted coaster. I love it there. And it's history is amazing. In addition to the things you mentioned...
Lagoon is the largest family owned amusement park in the U.S.
The carousel was built in the 1890s, it still has all its original hand carved, hand painted animals. In 1953 there was a huge fire that burned most of the park, the owners told the fire department to save the carousel.
I have also read that the Jet Star 2 only has 3 left in operation and the one at Lagoon is the only one on the American Continent.
I want to say that the colossus is only one of two in the world.
@@briandavis6898 one of 2 Schwartzcoph Double Loopers?
When I worked at Lagoon, we were always told the owner himself came to the park during the fire and personally kept hosing the carousel down to stop it from burning.
We are from Utah and watch your videos all the time so this was awesome to see
Yes... Jet Star did have an original version. I used to go on it on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore
Remember the Fun House? My kids don’t believe me when I tell them there was a ginormous disk that would spin kids around, and as it went faster and faster kids would fly off it. 😂 BTW we enjoyed seeing you all at Lagoon on Saturday.
Oh my gosh I remember that spinning disc!
All sorts of stuff lawyers would never approve now. Haha, the generation that rode in open pickups on freeway & ain’t no thing
I miss those slides of death in there
I remember the fun house!!! I loved it as a kid with the spinning tunnel & the slide:) they should totally bring it back.. it’s like a concession stand now 😢
Oh yeah!! Now that I read it I remember that spinning disk too!!
Thank you Chris and family..so fun to watch Miles reaction to these rides...I do not think Disney gets him that excited.
I love old parks like this with the landscape and benches all around..lovely. I lived for a number of years in Santa Cruz,Ca and the Boardwalk there is very old like this one.
It just looks inviting Chris
Thank you all again
Yeah this also reminded me of Boardwalk and California Great America (which was my first job)
Thank you for introducing me to a new amusement park Provost family! I have never heard of anything like this in my life before. It's been nice seeing some fun activities to do in Utah and this is on my bucket list. I grew up going to amusement parks when I was a kid. The rides look so hey day and it's bringing back memories that I need to relive. Seeing the whole family reminiscing together is so lovely. Miles is getting so big and he is just the most adorable little thing on this planet!
Cool to see some Utah content. Been looking forward to a Provost Park Pass Lagoon video.
Loved this...they sure have updated the Terrorride 😂! You forgot to talk about the funhouse and dime toss! We won a lot of ashtrays back in the day! Lol
I miss that funhouse. 💙💚
did they get ride of the dime toss? i like the rc boats they had near it
OMG!! Chris so happy to see that you visited Lagoon!! We love this park and have season passes every year! Thank you for posting and sharing this video! We live within 25 miles of this park. Hope you had a blast !!
Thanks for answering my question at FANX about whether you would ever do a Lagoon video, and thanks even more for actually doing it!
FYI, I think the new ride is called Primordial and I think it’s going to be an interactive coaster!
Lagoon was my high school summer job. It’s changed a lot since then.
Love the "pumpkin arch". Lagoon is a favorite of (ACE members) Very well kept park of both old/new attractions. Schwarzkopf built Colossus & Jet Star II (JS was designed to not have to use lap bars) Love the mini steam train (Silverwood in Idaho runs steam too) Miles had Chris/Amanda enthusiasm while riding a coaster! Terror Ride is what we called a (Kiss ride) Thanks for showcasing such a wonderful attraction! I got go go to AstroWorld as a lad for perfect school attendance one year from elementary school to high school graduation. 1978-1985. I missed 1 year when I was sick. My senior yr. I got a job there. So I gave away my '85 ticket.
I love your comments so much. 💙💚
I've been coming here since I was a kid, but my favorite time ever going was this most recent time. My work put on an event a couple of weekends ago, and I took my 15 month old, and was shocked just how much he could do. Seeing his reaction on those kid rides was priceless and the cutest thing ever. Also, Cannibal rocks haha
They have a ton of fun rides for the young kids, and my boy had a similar reaction last year when we took him.
I am a 5th generation Utah Native, never been to Lagoon.... Maybe next year.
Go!! You gotta go if your haven’t ever!! Unless your getting old like me & getting to be afraid of coasters… no but really they have a lot of awesome rides.. I would start with the swings & then go to the swinging pirate ship, then Bombora & then maybe then move up the chain.. they have new coasters; but the good old Colossas fire dragon with the double loop is my favorite; but then again I’m old 😂
Yay!!!! Lagoon!!!!! I am so excited you are doing this park and showing home.
Arrow used to be located in Clearfield but they actually went out of business several years ago. Wicked was manufactured by Zierer out of Germany. Utah does still have a lot of rollercoaster manufacturing though. S&S is located in Logan and built the Rocket at Lagoon. Also the largest track fabricator in the US is located in Springville. They did the track for Cannibal, Bombora and the new coaster...they also do a lot of stuff for Universal.
My younger brother and I always start the day at lagoon with Colossus! It's the best way to start your park day.
oh..has anyone told you how awesome you and your family are today?
Well you guys are!
Ogden High School had a senior sluff day in May where seniors spent the day at Lagoon.
4:30 In the Beach Boys song Salt Lake City, they sing about Lagoon.
The water ride with the skeletons is called “Cliff Hanger” 😉. Fun video!
Do you remember the Fun House with slides and spinning tables?
Fun place! Cannibal looked kuh-ray-zee!
Yay!!! Thanks for the video. Fun to see you doing our local park
This is one of the best amusement parks I’ve ever been to
I’m so glad you guys went to a local park
I was so surprised to find the Stationary Store moved...........
Thank you so much for showing the world this great park that people may not know about!!
Sunday is the best day to go to Lagoon. No crowds.
Looks like a cool place to go have fun, Miles is so adorable and brave, thank you nice family for the video.
Terror Ride is not a bad dark ride simple and black light fun lil thanks for sharing
Oh wow! Growing up we would visit family in Utah and our summer was not complete until we went to Lagoon! Once I had kids, we continued the summer tradition! They are all grown now and soon we will continue the tradition with my grandkids! Thanks for the blast from the past! Disney is losing it's shine and I am grateful we have such a amazing option!
I could go on and on about this video. I am so stoked, you finally showed this. I have done both the extreme rides. The Catapult is awesome. Highly recommend. Cannibal is a lot of fun too. Love you guys!
The hammer ride you mentioned that was next to Rockoplane was called Rolloplane. I miss that ride. I also miss the fun house. That arcade in the dance hall used to have my favorite video games: Frenzy(the sequel to Berzerk), Crystal Castles, and one I was really good at, Discs of Tron. The log flume has been permanently closed
I saw Chris Ledoux at Lagoon back in the 80’s. He was amazing!
You missed one of our favorites-Dracula's Castle-the Terroride for wimps. 😆
THAT PARK WAS IN COMPITION OF GREAT SALTAIRE PAVILON. BUT OCEAN RECEATED. AND THIS PARK ONE. THANK GOD ITS STILL HERE❤
I live just under an hour away from lagoon so I’ve gone my fair share of times. Love this video!
What really neat to me is that Cannibal was nearly completely designed and manufactured in house.
Yay!!! So happy you did this!
@Chris Provost I remember that 9th Grade day from our 9th grade. Well done on the video! Great memories with this kid!!
I remember those scout demolition derbies you mentioned. Such a fun childhood.
Good old Lagoon. I’ve probably been there literally a hundred times. But not for a few years. It was nice to see your tour. Thank you.
The new coaster looks amazing! Love the mountain lifthill. I bet theming on it is going to be great!
Representing home turf!
Thanks for the video of the TerrRide mural! I loved that ride when I was a kid and I was fascinated by the mural. Obsessed with the octopus too! Later after reading some Cthulhu Mythos in college I wondered if someone was badly describing Cthulhu to the artist?
I’m so excited you did a Lagoon vlog!!!!
So happy to see you in Utah a lot!
I grew up in salt lake and this was my childhood park. I've been going since the 1970s. What I love is how many of the original rides are still there including there terroride, Dracula's castle, and the roller coaster. Jetstar 2 was awesome when I was little.
Thank you so much for this video! It brought me back to my childhood. Grew up, for the most part, in Ogden! Went to Lagoon many times! Have so many memories! Even my parents had their first date at Lagoon. Last time I went to Lagoon was the first year they had Frightmares went with co-workers!
Hi Chris!! could you please consider coming to Northern California and vlogging from Great America? they recently announced the gradual closure of the park scheduled for 2032ish. it's a fun park full of personal memories with great coasters. have the best day ever! thanks!
I remember them building Great America around the mid-70s when I lived in Mountain View. The Demon and the Tidal Wave were my first experience riding a significant roller coaster.
I grew up going to Great America in the 70's and 80's. Just took my teen son last summer. It was great! So sad it is going away.
I love lagoon. I appreciate this video we are unique for sure.
My hometown!! Many trips to Lagoon as a child. Cannibal is incredible.
I've only been watching you for a short time but I really enjoy your posts. Your little guy, Miles, is so brave. Front row, Joe, wtg buddy.
Thank you. And yes Miles is so brave. 💙💚
Chris I used to live in Utah. Graduated from Bountiful High 1983. Went to lagoon often. Haven’t been since 1984 moving to Oregon and starting my family. Your video brought back all these incredible memories of my teen years. Thanks buddy
i live in southern utah and lagoon was my first trip with my now husband when we were dating! we go about once a year now. it’s so fun. the terror ride is actually terrifying. i kept my eyes open for the first time in it this last august and honestly wish i would’ve kept them closed. 🤣
We had a Jet Star coster here in Santa Cruz at the beach Boardwalk but sadly it was replaced by another coaster. You did sit like the matterhorn used to before they updated the cars. Fun Times and Great memories!
Such an fun look into a park from someone with a history with it.
Yes the coster manufacturer is called Arrow Dinamics and it is located Clearfield Utah.
That looks really fun! When I go visit relatives in Ogden, I’ll have to make a trip over to this one and the other village you showed us.. this will make teenagers and me very happy!! Thanks guys!!
So fun that you did a Lagoon video!! :) Man it's been too long since I have been there.
The last time I went to Lagoon was the year Rattlesnake Rapids opened... And I didn't even go on it. 😂 The line was too long.
Love how the coasters sound very old school. It’s giving me awesome nostalgia for Boblo Island, a now gone amusement park located on an island in the Detroit river. You had to take a massive paddle wheel boat to get there. Thank you! ❤
we have to be grateful fo rwhat they have - Lagoon is now about 95% surrounded by suburban sprawl gone made. Primeval may wel lbe the last Coaster they ever have room to build unless they take out something else.
Miles is a wildman! He could do Six Flags for sure.
FINALLY YOU GUYS DID MY HOME PARK
This looks like fun! I'm gonna need to take a trip there. I live in Vegas so it shouldn't be too hard.
I love, love love the ping pong ball game!!! They have that at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg PA. Lagoon Park looks great!!! Thanks so much!! 😄
Chris, I gotta say... Amanda is simply adorable. You should consider yourself a VERY lucky man!
I do. 💙💚
Will have to visit that park sometime. Good video.
Lagoon! I'm surprised you didn't do the pioneer village photography. Also the first one you called the samurai is actually the cliffhanger.
AWESOME!! I love every one of your videos better than the last. SO good. And Sweet Dee is CUTE!! Tell her that I want to ride Terroride with her.
We will be there tomorrow. We have season passes each year. As we’ve done Disneyland and Knotts I’ve often thought lagoon could learn from them. The food plan that Knotts offers would be good for lagoon to adopt. They always have fun merchandise that they could get more season passes if they had season passport discounts. Thanks for the fun video.
I remember that one was called the jet Star 2 .back in the late 80s.
Oh no!! I just watched all the urban legend movies!! Lol I'm sure its hallened at least once.🤣😱💀
Also, my mom Jan requests a Magic Mountain video if your in the area and up to it? We lived there when I was young lol
Great job showing it. If you want a few facts on it, look me up.
Oh my goodness you were in my hometown 😁 I've lived in Utah my whole life, we would go to Lagoon every year , we would get season passports almost every year. Took me years to stop being chicken 🐔 and finally ride the coaster 😂🎢
Thanks for all you do 🤗
Lagoon is such a great park!!!
I remember lagoon. My very first job was there back in 06 or 07 I think 🤔.
I worked as a game attendant mostly on the ping pong ball game but I also did a few others. It was hot stressful hard work but overall it wasn't to bad a job compared to others I'd get later on. The worst part was counting the prizes at the end of the night you would get in so much trouble if the count was off by even 1 small prize so sometimes you'd be there counting and recounting for 2 or 3 hours past closing.
Even the occasional violent or scammer guest wasn't that bad and there where more then a few of them. Like the guy they cought one time passing out counterfeit 20s. Or that time a dad pulled a knife on me because his kid lost at Jacobs ladder and I didn't just give him a prize anyway. Security dose a good job at keeping stuff like that to a minimum though and dealing with it when it dose happen.
Overall though I'm glad I had that experience. It was a decent first job and like I said it was far better then a lot of others I'd get later on.
Though I'd much rather be a guest then an employee.
Thanks!
You ever consider going to knoebels amusement resort in Pennsylvania.
14:32 That was the Rollo Planes. Two people forward two in back. 4 on top and 4 on bottom, and then you'd switch. Then it would change direction.
Woow I didn't know that theme park existed.Interesting 🧐🤔😯
I know you like history facts so here is some I just learned a few weeks ago. There was an amusement park on the coast of Oregon called Pixieland. It ended up closing mostly because it was built in what became a bird/wildlife preserve and because it was out in the middle of nowhere. As matter of fact, there are now no traces of this park left in it's original location. But before they closed, they sold two of their rides to Lagoon. They were the train and the log flume. These were the last two remnants of this park still in operation until Lagoon tore down the log flume (something I found out from a different video). Its sad to see it go but I can only hope lagoon sold it rather than just scrap it.
Although I grew up in Sothern California, I currently live in Ogden Utah. I was in the Air Force based at Hill AFB and when I retired, I got a job in the area. I've been here for about 24 years now and I actually haven't been to lagoon in about 10+ years. This is in large part to something that either I missed in your video or something you skipped/avoided (anyone who's been going to lagoon for a large part of their lives would know). If you ride the train and only if you ride the train, you will see some animals in very small cages. Lagoon receives of criticism for the horrible living condition and treatment of these animals. There is no reason for these poor animals to be there especially as lagoon keeps them mostly hidden. The family who own and run lagoon just don't care. I know you like to keep your videos positive and upbeat but by avoiding this issue you ate basically saying that this is okay. And that is disappointing.
I’m loving the Utah videos! 🏔️❤️
At 5:47, that ride is actually called Cliffhanger! Samurai is a different ride at Lagoon.
Cannibal is NOT meant to be "cannonball" because the promo for it is "It eats other rollercoasters."
You missed Dracula's Castle which is Terroride but for wimps😂
Overall, loved the video! I would love for more videos at Lagoon for the kiddy rides and your reaction on other rides.☺️
Thank you for giving some light to our tiny theme park.
(I had to write this like 4 times cause I kept accidentally leaving the video😭)
Awesome video!
I worked there as a stuntman in the wild west shoot outs for several years. And actually saw the ghost in the Millinery shop!
Hey wait, you didn't talk about the Giant Mountain roller coaster they're building in the back of the park!!
