We just moved into this beautiful area and we love driving around on the weekend after a stressful work week.. but seeing it from the Air was so wonderful and just breathtaking. Thank you for such amazing videos. I feel so honored to be able to purchase the amazing produce from our Amish Neighbors and now to see all the work that goes into it .. makes me appreciate it even more. Thank you again for making my morning.

I enjoy theses videos, find them relaxing, just wonder why some use all horses and mules, then a power unit pulled by horses and other using modern tractors and machinery. Don’t see much difference in a horse pulled power unit or a tractor that does both. Or is it OK to have someone with modern equipment hired to do the Amish work ? Just wondering. Always look forward to the next video.

Thanks for watching. Horses and mules to pull implements in lieu of tractors has been their preferred and agreed upon method for decades. Amish culture very much respects their traditions and this is one of them. There are economic reasons as well. The overall cost of horsepower and power carts is much lower than tractor power making Amish owned dairies relatively more successful than others. There are a few groups of Amish that have settled in much hillier terrain and due to that do use tractors in the field to pull implements.
There is a good mix of ground driven and engine driven implements in Lancaster county and some of that is due to different church district rules but even within church districts you will see a mix. Pragmatically, some implements need power carts to run them due to their size and the size of fields being harvested. One of the reasons many Amish owned dairies continue to be successful is their judicious adoption of technology with an eye to tradition. It makes sense to them and their higher rate of success running dairies seems to bear that out.

I visited Bird in Hand last year whilst on holiday from the U.K. I will always remember this place with great fondness for how welcoming the people there were.

I greatly enjoy your videos, and I also enjoy the accompanying background music. Where do you get your music from?

Thanks for watching. Music is a mix of UA-cam free tracks and Audiio. Audiio is getting bothersome with copyright claims after I publish.

@@LancoAmish I hope they don't get in the way too much. It really adds a very nice touch to the scenery and such in the videos. Thanks for the feedback.

The Amish farmers prove again and again that one can have a thriving agricultural economy with a combination of equine power and modern equipment, even in our highly mechanized and computerized time.
