- Who doesn't love to watch corn being harvested for silage? Watching corn being harvested for silage by vintage forage harvesters in Lancaster County's Amish Land by Mennonite Farmers is the absolute best. New Holland Model 1900 Whopper Chopper.
Просто загляденье, молодцы ребята Дай Бог вам здоровья успехов в вашем нелегкой благородной работе желаем процветания и благополучия
Nice unit. Thanks for sharing!!
Wont need to worry about flat tires I guess lol Seems like it handles the 6 row rotary head pretty well. They look to both have horning kernel processors on them.
Thanks so much for watching. Definitely no flats but I bet the ride is less than great!
Nice to still see alot of small farms using the older equipment. The newer equipment is just mind blowing in itself. I would rather stick to the older equipment. Cuts really nice to right down to the ground. Barely leaving any short stalks.
Wish i could fix that ac for you so you could close the door
Nice video
so there was 2 New Holland? i thought i saw one with a 4 row header and one with a Kemper taking 6 row
Yes, there were 2 different ones in the video. Thanks so much for watching!
In europe this new holland mounting motor daf.
When you mentioned a whopper chopper with a twist, being silly I think of a patron at a fast joint that asked for extra dill pickles on their burger. 😂😂

Whats the story with the wheels on the NHs ?
All steel or steel centres with rubber grips ?
Either way i wouldn't fancy hitting the road on them
@@DanMurphy-w3m , Thank you so much for watching and asking. They are owned by conservative Mennonites. They don’t use rubber tires.
@@LancoAmishthere are welding shops specializing in steel wheel conversions. They are a source of replacement wheels and duals for us English.
@ronzimmerman8968 On the upside, no more punctures. On the downside I'd imagine they would be prone to slipping in damp conditions and positively lethal on high ground. The noise must be brutal on the road
@@LancoAmish Wagons have rubber tires.
@@randybennett5417 , metal tires a on vehicles that they could travel with. They try to make it inconvenient to travel “long” distances as this would have a detrimental affect on family and community closeness. The same thinking is held by many Amish groups.

6 rows is too much!
in germany the chopper has up to 1000 DIN horsepower.
Isn’t 1000 DIN close to 1000 SAE HP? That seems quite excessive for a 6 row forage chopper. If this chopper has the CAT engine it outputs 270 HP. It is doing the job and should at an appropriate ground speed.
@@LancoAmish
1) That is not appropriate ground speed, that thing is crawling along and doesnt get work done.
2) The corn isnt very high and not very thick.
Nevertheless, the machine is running at the limit of its capabilities. 1000 hp is indeed a bit too much, but 600 would lift the whole thing out of its dormant state.
I think the colleague with the 1000 hp, ignoring the actual topic, wanted to say that the world's largest forage harvester is built in Germany and that it has around 1000 hp.
@@pearlyhumbucker9065, it obviously gets the work done fast enough for these guys as they’ve been using it for years. Why do you believe fast is the only way to get work done?
