Reminds me of a sign in a dealership in the 1970s. Our labor rates are; $10/hour, $15/hr if you watch, $20/hr if you help and $100/hr if you worked on it first.

That's pretty unbelievable to see a professional mechanic doing work like that. And to take some material off the new sensor to make it closer to the blades on the harmonic balancer, is priceless along with the rewire. I'm just curious now what other stuff you found out later. Definitely a good case study Ivan.

The long crank time is because it takes two revolutions of the crank for the cam to spin once.

Owner: "My car won't start sometimes, let's throw parts at it".
Mechanic: "Ok, and while I'm in there, I will go ahead and modify some parts too".

As soon as I saw that thick pink wire I knew it was a shielded wire. Honda is notorious for this and having wiring diagrams that don't show the color of the shielding wire. Good job, looking forward to watching the other videos on this car. Yes I know they are two years old but I'm catching up.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to touch mechanical equipment. If the first thing your mechanic grabs is a pair of wire cutters and a hammer, be afraid. Be very afraid.

I had the same exact problem with my 2001’acura 3.2cl types s. Cranking but not starting. I started with the fuel Fuel Pump fuse between the dash and driver side door. Wiggled the fuse and it fired up. Then I sprayed some Deoxit in the fuse hole and put the fuse in and out several times. Luckily, that was a year ago and it hasn’t come back. It’s good that that was the problem cause that’s about the extent of my car knowledge. Next problem was just a single click when turning the key. Did the same process with the starter signal fuse and it’s been fine for a month. So maybe my whole fuse box is just getting old and the connections are getting dirty. I will see.

2001 acura mdx, My car. New battery. Yes, I have gas. Crank No Sfart. My diagnosiism f1, Main relay/fuel relay need to be replaced. I unplugged the wires, but. i can't get the old relay out. If I go buy a new relay plug the wires back into this new one, will that be ok till I GET TO A MECH. and let him take to old relay out, then secure my new repay in its place? im asking will it be ok to drive without secureing the new relay?

This kind of work makes your life very interesting, but how do you charge for your work? Just straight hourly, or is there a special discount for the extra fun you have?!

It's the thing that gives me nightmares when I take my car in for service. Are they going to let the janitor work on my car ?

i have looked up this engine's wiring and i don-t see the cam. there are tdc1 and tdc2. where do you see the cam that you keep saying the engine is running of the cam?
    you answer is appreciated

    • @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics
      @PineHollowAutoDiagnostics  8 років тому +1

Yup those are the cam sensors. Just a different name for them, meaning they tell the PCM when some cyl is at tdc on the compression stroke.

Not sure where this is going to end up, but I have seen where owners/mechanics have mis-identified the shield wire and spliced it right in with the signal on several Camrys o2 sensors. This looks to be a good one. Keep up the great work!

Anyone have any common knowledge about a Cl that will crank but not start. I’ve changed fuel pump, fuel pump housing, fuel pump relay, fuel pump fuse and the car still won’t run, it’s getting fuel thoUgh, I’ve disconnected the lines and turned the key on fuel come out, with that being said It’ll run for about 7 to 8 seconds if I spray starter fluid but won’t stay running any help will be greatly appreciated

So this "mechanic" didn't bother to look at a wiring diagram before "rewiring" the circuit. Lovely.

I’m working on one of these right now. How do I set my voltage scale to read the crank sensor. I have a pico.

i guess the only down fall of this kind of work is when u have to repair others mechanics scew ups, make u dig deeper to find why all this is so fouled up. anyways good video, i like when u drop in and see Eric from time to time . see ya.

II have no idea what you are talking about. I'm just an ordinary woman, with little money trying to fix my car,. 2001 Acura MDX. I have gone on youtube to show how.. I've looked at almost every Acura thing on here. Are you making this for other mechanics or me? It seems I am really slow and boring. I can see you ae are an expert on the wiring of automobiles. . only someone with your laid-back energy could possibly do this.... Thank you, I have no idea what you say but I have a question .ill send this and ask my question. in ner comment.

And that is relevant because? And obviously, did you not understand it was friggin' hot that day? The guy we saw next to him for a while was sweating like a pig... And did you not hear him say it was so hot that the heat corrupted the recorded data on his camera? Jeez... What a pointless comment, just watch and learn something instead of posting shit like that.

Good video. Looks like you are working topless from the reflection in the Verus. Trying to bring in more woman viewers and subs? Nice... I don't know why you keep calling the guy at the shop a mechanic. He is a hack. Hope you charged him full hourly plus a big P.I.T.A. (pain in the ass) tax.
