11:32 - Ivana, yes Malaysians or maybe Asians love pickled fruits. We don't have cucumber pickled, but we do salak (my fave), papaya, chinese dates, mangoes, guavas, kedondong...many more..

You can totally make Mexican casserole with Doritos chips. It’s the best. So yummy!!!
Hock Choon? It's a great place for some imported goods. You can also get some at Ben's by BIG at LINC or Berjaya Grocer at Intermark, Cold Storage at Suria KLCC or Village Grocer at Avenue K. You can get reasonably priced wines at those places as well.
You can walk around 10km radius and record what you can see around Jalan Ampang, Jalan Damai, Jalan U Thant etc. There are many hidden gems in the area that many people including KLites do not know. Embassies, High Commissions, restaurants, international schools etc
Since ur in M'sia, cooking Nasi lemak is a must. Try it..
Should check Ampang Point Shopping Centre and it's Surrounding. /Tesco Ampang (for Kluang rail cafe)./JM briyani house.

yes, hock choon prices are a bit pricy. its located near embassies and a lot foreigners stay around the area.
my suggestion, both of u should go to ampang point mall, have gaint supermarket. around 3km from your apartment. can go with grab around 5 ringgit, more cheapest.

That's the first time I see a real durian cake. To me a durian cake looks like a foot long sausage which is the traditional type 😋 I believe you have tried that one? It's very good too 🤗

There’s a lot foreign produce at Hock Choon not just because it’s near embassies, but it’s also owned by Jaya Grocer who sell a lot of imported stuff. Just learned this yesterday through Jaya Grocer’s Instagram.
Just grab a car and go to ampang point where u can get much cheaper groceries. It just 6 min from ur aprt. Oppsite ampang point u can shop at 99 speedmart or korean shop.
OMG... u r just nearby. Hook choon market was like 5 min drive from my house. U must be around the corner

300/week is expensive to my opinion, not that my opinion matters though. RM 200/week is acceptable for two. But, food makes people happy. Buy as you wish. I shop locally at Wet Market/Giant Tesco/Giant every week. I shopped internationally (AEON, KOREAN MART) only once a month to keep my shopping cost low.
