One of my favorite Slug verses
I LOVE this. Big Atmosphere fan, I think I like it because its so different. A true artist transcends genres. and like Slug has said "hip hop is like a tree and we are just a branch on that tree"
slug, eligh and grouch all ripped it on this song, their verses are incredibly good, who cares if the beat is mainstream sounding
if anyone does not see them live you are missing the true meaning of music
This beat is so far from mainstream that it is old school!
The best there is!
1:41 The Mac Named Dre.. And Slug.. Two of My Favorite Rappers... RIP MAC DRE
Oh that mural in the background!? Damn just caught that
BASICALLY, ANYTHING THEY CREATE, I LOVE. i dont care what style it is, who proudced it, what theyre wearing.. they are the SHIT. anything goes
Yeeez
Damn! They have everyone in this video!! Even aesop rock! Every track with slug is ill as fuck. He should just be in LL. But Rhyemsayers know whats up too! Good shit, now they need to make a video for Comin' up or Sign of the Times. This is one of the hottest cd's i've ever heard. I cannot get sick of it.
It’s like the better version of reminder
FOREVER THE KINGS 🎙
I LOVE Slug!
His work is GOLD.
this isn't a parody to mainstream hip hop, this is an ode to the hyphy music movement in the bayarea, where grouch and Zion I are from. that's why they show the mac dre mural on 1:42 , one of the father's of the movement.
people don't realize that tho but only well
i like how aesop is just walking around lookin all aesopy haha
This song has an E-40 vibe.
Oooh...
@@jeremyd.1527 it was produced by Lil Jon's label mate DJ Fresh, so it makes sense
i always thought itd be sick to hear slug with a sound like this but after hearing it, it just aint the same slug
it is *KINDA radio.. just the beat..
but the lyrics & vibes are still so underground. love it.. my favorite part is when grouch says, "im a homebody, a simpleton." hahaha this song is the SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!
I met Grouch twice. Once in Maui and the other in Seattle. Real humble dude. If u read this shit man.....thanx for the insoiration over the years. I'm positive we will eventually cross paths again. I hope next time its to do a track together
"Im your nephews idol, my rap's his bible, act like a blacklight, acknowledge my glow" hahah wow grouch is too haaard
Boom!!!! Love it!
Dude, how can you not like this?
my ears always vibrate when i hear this even when its not loud at all
matt hobbs killed that
I love this song hahaha it cracks me up, especially slugs verse, and his car!
I am always finding new Slug verses
thiss song is tight...... good progression and even better it reminds me of egyptian lover's "and the beat goes boom boom boom" i like it.....
Slug goes hard no matter what he's working on.
As soon as I saw Slug was on this, I clicked it
Well Mr Fab did tour with the Legends and Zion I. All three hailing from the city of Oakland, where slap reigns supreme. If you don't realize that this is as much a part of them as their indie underground stuff, then you are fooling yourself. It makes sense Grouch would put something like this out for the Home State, and for the Home Town! Big ups, Oakland, Whole Bay Area, We out here.
I know this ain't their usual style but I still love this fuckin song! It's nice to see them jump out their genre every now and then.
two of my most favorite mcs on one track - a dream come true!!!! luuuuuuuuvit
west coast slapper with a mid-west rapper!
and Mur's album was still a fresh breath of air.
hahaha this song is great....slugs vers is totaly me back in high school, wagon with house speakers n still pimpin......gota love the shaggin wagon
dope track and video..pays respect to all the ol skool peeps..beats and lines..youngsters dont understand about LL and RSE these are some grown folks yall
good to see Grouch still keeping it real....been listening to him since the "Don't Talk to Me" tape I bought off him on Telegraph Ave.
AMPLIVE, man you always make me smile, illllllllllll, @BrodyBlackburn, yeah, that's Aesop Rock
well said i think this songs tight. it pretty much described how me and my brother in law used to roll. in a sketchy car packed with house speakers. lol.
saw zion i and the grouch a month or two ago. so god damn dope even if i got kicked out halfway through for blazin. i still snuck back in and still got aid
Gyeah!!! Awesome video... Bay Area stand up... LaLaLand what it does!!!
Holler
Don't ever loose that sincerity man, don't let the mainstream change you.
Theone Andonly dont be stupid they all did there time. paid there dues. nothing wrong with exposure.
Its a statement, this isn't about "doing time" its more about his teachings. Once the mainstream gets the claws in they're not the same.
Theone Andonly ii
LOVE LOVE LOVE the b+w!
slug love the jacket!
grouch your just the shit!
eligh, like the lyrics!
I don't care what people say, this doesn't sound mainstream. Even though the song doesn't have too much of a meaning, the lyrcis used are good. Dope song.
This song makes me want to cry. Its like even the greatest Emcee's can sell out... :(
Just in case you guys didnt know. This type of music comes with the territory. They have been underground for so long and stubbornly never wanted to change their style for any A&R or music company. Thats why they stayed independent this whole time. But you have to look at it this way, Either you keep it the way you want to do it independently and not sell records, or you give the "masses" what they're used to and sell records. It's inevitable.
never stop bringin it please
this vid is one on the funniest things iv'e ever seen in hip hop history
amplive on the beat, slug and grouch on the mic - dope!
my head went BOOM! love this song!
Guys, chill. Let em take a rest and have some fun! btw this song bumps if u have a system in ur car. i dunno anything about that stuff, thats all my bro but its fun to bump hah. this song never really gets old. a bit of a change but its still a great song.
ahhh i peeped that cufish cameo... keep ur thang grouch.. we need more dope artist like yall
I love how the song is a total attack on mainstream and how a lot of people don't get that.
Love me some G&E
Sooo dope
Yeah! Nice track... It`s all about the bass in my trunk!
Bruh, anybody else notice Aesop Rock just chillin in this video lol
haha. this video is great for so many reasons. catchy song with intelligence. mistah fab cameo. turf dancer. and the best part, aesop rock randomly pops up a few times! YES!
its wierd seeing these dudes do a track like this, slugs verse reminded me of my 1st ride. I DUG IT
Doesn't matter what your opinion is , it's just fire!
Y'all need to stop dissing this song. Not all underground rap has to have a boom bap beat. This is just the Bay Area sound where the Grouch & Zion I comes from.
I am a big fan of G&E.
I am highly disapointed in this song.
All time favorite song from them....
"ever after" &
"highwire love"
greetings from the future. this shit bangs.
good Cool Awesome hip-hop music
honestly, if i was much younger when i was all angsty and listened to liek ultra underground stuff, i would hate this song but. even if this is NOT a satire or a joke song from them, i don't care. it enjoyable. I dunno why some ppl go all nuts about musicians well..having fun. God forbid entertainers, writers, emcees having fun in life. they made enough dope ass songs, let em have fun. i actually get hyped when i see commercial joints from underground artists these days,
Aesop Rock lookin' like Buck 65 with that hair!
believe it or not i heard piece of this beat from a old krs one song
so they chopped it up so good that u can barely reconize it
this one bumps
this is awsome cos i used to rock an old stationwagon with old house speakers
F YES!....Amp is a gatdamn genius....everything the cat touches if redonkulus....
Would love to see that happen....
I just saw Eligh, The Grouch, and atmosphere it was amazing I had a blast front row seats Grouch has the biggest head.
🔥🔥🔥✨Boom ✨
this songs tight why do people hate on it?
We don't hate on it, we make fun of it because its a parody of todays hip hop.

DOPE, DOPE, DOPE, DOPE!!!!!

The Grouch is another one of my favorite MC's this is actually a great album...and this is not a rhymesayers label.
good shit as always...my three favorite guys... man id love to be in that ride with all three..
Some people say this doesn't have enough lyrical content, but this is one of the few songs that has the truth and can be a club banger.
All 3 of em tear it up!! Why would anyone think otherwise haha?...
man, i dont know what y'all talkin bout, this track is sick! G&E!! and why would "ANT" be in this video when he didnt produce it?? AMPLIVE did his thang on this track real HYPHIE!!! everyone's verses were on point!! keep doing your thang!! LEGENDARY MUSIC!!!
Wow that video is great! I love the production!
Gotta love that these guys rented a car (see rental car keychain at 1:36) for this video. Still true to the game....

This is fresh. Didnt know they made a video for it.
i dont know why people dont like this song. i know its not really like them, but the song is to show that they are from the bay area and show their respect to it.
