Correcting Loose Tension on Topstitching (After the Fact) - An OKSew Quick Fix

- This video is part of a series I am doing where I will go over fixes for common sewing issues that arise in bag making. In this installment I will be demonstrating how I tighten a topstitched seam when my sewing machine tension was off. This method works when the both sides of the fabric can be seen such as on a strap or around a bag opening as well when topstitching a surface only seen from the front such as when topstitching next to a zipper. To prevent recurrence, increase the tension of your upper thread prior to topstitching thicker materials and test on scraps prior to starting your topstitch on your main project.
Be sure to let me know if you have any suggestions for future quick fixes for me to include in the series!

Great tip. I love this series ❤
Thanks Julie!
WOW. Great tip. Thanks
I've been doing this for quite awhile! But I use my seam ripper gently instead of a needle!
Great idea!
Cool! Trying to imagine doing this on a long crossbody strap … PATIENCE REQUIRED!
Haha!! I was doing it on a long strap when I came up with idea for the quick fix series, so yes my mind was wandering 😂
