I also learnt that God teaching Jonah that lesson was indeed a learning curve for him so that he doesnt continue to serve God with the wrong heart and attitude and genuinely acknoweldge that God is merciful to whom he pleases! ❤
Such a powerful but tiny book. Gotta love the simplicity and concisiveness of this lesson. No-one is too far gone, for God... give to him truly with your whole self. There is no impossible, i like the comparative commentary with Sodom and Gomorrah. Its powerful as well because it shows us that God does not want to cleanse out our rampant sin even though He has said the wages for sin is death. Just 3 days, and restoration which mirrors Jesus. His temple was torn down and as He said, rose again on the 3rd day.
What helps me forgive quickly is, I focus on the spiritual aspect instead of my hurt feelings. To not forgive, I would invite the same "unclean spirit of offense and/or stronghold" in my heart that could cause unforgiveness in the first place. This is why God says if you don't forgive others, God will not forgive you. Don't embrace the "spirit of offense" instead embrace the fact that God is bigger, our identity is in Him; Christ represents love and forgiveness. That helps me, hope it blesses you all.
What I have learnt from this episode and bible study on the book of Jonah is the mercy, brokenness and forgiveness that comes from God. He desires to use us in a way that we are aligned to his will and spirit that comes from knowing him and being vulnerable to share his heart with others. Moreover, the first part deals with unforgiveness that we have in us. In our lives there are times we might think and believe we have forgiven others. However, in God's eyes and view we haven't gone the extra mile to express and confess the wrong doing done to others. Also, that unforgiven spirit might hinder the move and power of God to be seen by others. In addition, this might be part that God is waiting on us to confess and forgive ourselves and those whom we hand hold on for a while. Consequently, the second part deals with the mercy that God is willing allow for us to come to the point where we surrender to the heart and mind of God. God was willing to allow Jonah go through this journey and allow him not to think it's not about his way of doing things. Thus, this self righteous act that he carried need to be dealt with and cleansed in his life. I can tell you that One Way has been instrumental in my bible journey especially the team of Xenia, Jesse, Mitchelle and Mateus in the team. You guys are amazing!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏾💯
