With all due respect to Cambodians as the people, I just don't see how Angkor Wat was built by them. The stories carved into the walls are Indian. It is indeed true that the Indian culture influenced the Khmer indigenous people and I don't see why would they adopt Indian culture 100% and build a temple dedicated to their influencers. Look at the architecture of Angkor Wat and other Wats in Phnom Pheng where you really see the real Khmer architecture. They are vastly different, look at the Royal place as an example. As a side note, I don't see how the Cambodians work ethics have enabled them to build such temples in a few 10 years. If they had been able to pull all that work in and completed it just a few decades, think of the massive number of slaves they must have had. Where they got a slave population of half a million to 1 mil back then when these places were swamp or forested land?
