B420LD EPISODE 10 PART 2 - C5 CORVETTE VATS PASS-Key BYPASS

In this Part 2 of Episode 10, I go through the process of installing a bypass in the GM PASS-Key anti-theft system because this car was experiencing intermittent "Start / Stall" conditions. Sometimes it would quit at some distance from home base causing some stressful and embarrassing moments. I go through the steps outlined in the GM C5 Corvette Service Manual without taking any short cuts to do the update.

Hi. I am experiencing the same things with my 2002 c5 corvette automatic. I purchased online approx 7yrs ago a vat bypass module but recently while driving the security light will come on and at times after being parked to run errunds it will not start for about 3-5 mins. Any input would be appreciated and if you can kindly supply me with the company/supplier of the vats component you used. I have a 2 pin.

Hi James. It turned out, mine had more complicated issues. The VATS control module worked for a while but the issue persisted. All diagnostics led to a failed Body Control Module. I got a replacement reman from Rock Auto to try. I went through the install and relearn process, but still had anti-theft issues so I bought a complete system by-pass module from New Rockies. No more antitheft fault, and now it starts every time (but only with the new module). However, now I am getting Engine Control Module codes when I use the Cruise Control. One code in particular may be causing this issue. A system voltage fault. This leads me to a charging system issue. Turns out my battery is older than I figured so that is next but I am not getting an economy one this time. Will be getting a top of the line battery and see if that clears out the remaining faults.
